My first visit to Dr. Hunt’s office yesterday convinced me that he is the best Veterinarian I’ve ever had, and I’ve had many vets, and many dogs in my 34 years of pet ownership. That one visit yesterday has prompted me to change vets and make Homestead Animal Clinic my new choice for caring for my pets. The clinic was clean and professionally run. Dr. Hunt’s staff reflects his value of running a caring and empathetic service to pet owners. The fees are reasonable and competitive. Dr. Hunt is a knowledgeable competent vet. But the thing that really sets him apart from other vets I’ve experienced, is his way of coming alongside the pet owner, in a difficult and emotional time, and equipping them with the information needed for the pet owner to make the often difficult decisions about the treatment they choose for their pet. This was my experience yesterday: My wife’s Chihuahua needed immediate attention due to an unexpected severe injury causing paralysis. I called my vet and explained the situation and they said they were booked. They told me to go to an emergency clinic, which was far away and very expensive. I went online and found Homestead Animal Clinic. The reviews looked positive (except for one review that turned out to be completely off base from the experience I had yesterday). I called the clinic, AS A NEW PATIENT no less, and they said they were double booked all day and the doctor was in a long surgery, however, given my situation, I could come in and they would try to fit me in as soon as possible. They did manage to get me in in a timely manner, and the doctor spent time with me and later with my wife, helping us to make an informed and very difficult decision about our little dog. Thank you to Dr. Hunt and the Homestead staff for your excellent service to your newest clients yesterday. We’ll be sending you the records of our other dog and be in to get her shots soon.

I had just taken my cat there a few months back for her annual check up and spent a thorough time with tests and getting all my information transferred since I recently moved to the area. I noticed something was wrong with my cat and called to describe the unusual symptoms and the lady answering the phones was extremely unhelpful. She didnt suggest or offer even speaking with the vet and even discouraged it after I asked for it. She told me the vet wouldnt be able to know what was going on but said if I saw the symptoms again to bring in a video. Maybe Im naive but Im use to getting better care than that from other animal clinics and have at least talked to vets on the phone with my concerns. Also, I think it is always better service for a trained professional to discredit my concerns rather than someone answering the phones. I wasnt expecting a conversation right then and there but perhaps a call back regarding my concerns given Id established care for my cat already. Guess it is time to find a new vet, which I told the woman on the phone and she agreed. I am thinking it is probably an ok place to take your animal if you need a shot or something concrete otherwise look around for some place else.

Dr. Hunt saved my dogs life. Bella got out of the yard and was hit by a car. She was missing for two days and was in shock when we found her. We rushed her to the emergency vet who quoted us several thousands of dollars to save her and recommended putting her down. Luckily, we were existing clients of Dr. Hunts and called him immediately. He had the emergency vet fax him the x-rays and advised us on our best course of action. He ended up amputating one of Bellas legs, and trying some innovative techniques to save another one, all at a price that was significantly less than what we were quoted at the emergency vet. The girls in the office are great and every time I go in, they ask about my "miracle dog." We live in San Tan Valley and make the drive to Mesa. I dont trust anyone else with my animals. Dr. Hunt and his staff are amazing!

AMAZING VET, terrible staff. Dropped our dog off for surgery and the woman at the desk had NO IDEA why my dog was there (poorly organized?). You wait at least 30-45 minutes for the appointment (bad scheduling practices?) Then, when I brought my girl back for follow up, a dog in the waiting room was growling and lunging, then the owner repeatedly physically abused her dog and NO ONE did anything. The workers werent even paying attention (impossible, since she was screaming at her dog and loudly hitting the poor creature) and didnt do anything when I brought it to the techs attention. Its too bad because the doctor is FANTASTIC; kind, gentle, intelligent, easy to talk to, doesnt push treatment, etc. Get a better staff and Id return. As it is, Im looking for a new vet.

I have only been in to see Dr. Hunt twice now. He has taken care of both of my dogs one is full grown and a former E-lister who does not care for men. Which Dr. Hunt was very good with her knowing how scared she was and treated her well. Then I took our new rescue of 4 months to see him and he went out of his way to save me money and treat my sweet pup at the same time. Again he was awesome with her and went out of his way to inform me of what all my options were and gave her the best care. The entire staff was great and very helpful with answering questions and taking care of our wonderful pups. Love this place so far, never waited for more then a couple min. and my animals are well cared for.

Dr. Hunt and the staff at Homestead are amazing at what they do. Everyone at this office cares about the animals and the clients who walk through their door. Dr. Hunt always takes the time to explain what is going on with our dogs and our cats and to answer all of our questions. He really listens to our concerns and our feedback. Because of that care for the wellbeing of his patients, he will recommend what he thinks is the best course of action, not what will cost the most. We trust him with our animals and rely on his guidance and expertise for their care. I couldnt imagine going anywhere else.

Staff could be better. They tend to not be super-friendly, and seem somewhat lackadaisical. Been going for years and are not very helpful if you call in with a concern. I like Dr. Hunt and his somewhat conservative approach. He doesnt try and sell you a bunch of supplements and will give you the option for treatment with pros/cons. I think Dr. Hunt is honest and will tell you that there isnt a magic bullet for some issues which may leave you feeling frustrated, but I prefer honesty over telling me something just to make ME feel good. Im there for my pets.

I just had a great experience with Dr. Hunt and his staff. I had visited another vet in Apache Junction that charged what I felt were exhorbitant prices and I didnt want to go back. I found this office searching on affordable veterinarian. The prices are much more reasonable, Dr. Hunt and his staff were very knowledgeable and caring and down to earth. I was even told that dental cleaning could wait till I got home to my own vet! Definitely NO UPSELL here!! Dr. Hunt is my new adopted vet while in the Phoenix area!
