I recently moved to the Elk Grove area and in March brought home a 2 1/2 week old Pit Bull puppy....needless to say 6mos. later shes turned out to be my 3rd child...her sister, my other 2 yr. old Pit Bull / Choc. Lab mix and my 23 yr. old son... Anyway a friend suggested I bring her to VCA Elk Grove Animal Hospital. Her 1st appt. at 4 weeks was with Dr. Van Riper...The Dr. took the time to sit in the room with us and held, played and got to know my new puppy...I was very impressed with Dr. Van Riper bedside manner...A couple of weeks ago it was time to bring my puppy in to be spayed...I was very worried about this whole matter but the staff and doctor reassured me that it was the right time and she was in good hands....the spaying went fine...and shes back to her old self...minus a few lady parts....I appreciated the extra time they took to answer my questions and to explain things to me...

The front desk staff are all sweet and caring. I always receive a call the next day checking to make sure my puppy is dping okay. Ive taken my little princess there for ear infections and was not really impressed with the two doctors or the assistant in their ability to work with my puppy (she was under a year old). I figured it was because she was a spoiled little girl. Then we had an appointment with Dr. Jana Grant and she took the time to make sure my puppy had a great experience. The little chicken jerky treats probably helped. My puppy looked like she was going to need a recheck and I found out Dr. Grant no longer works there. Hopefully the good experience with doctor Grant will assist my puppy with her next vet visit.

I had to bring my very best friend in only to find out he had to be euthanized. I was beside myself and unable to process the event. They gave me time, a private room and even honored a discount I wasnt entitled to. They processed the billing in the private room so I wouldnt have to be seen crying in the public waiting room. As well they sent me a beautiful placard and pin commemorating my love and memories of my best friend. I will use and recomend them as much as I can. Compassionate, professional, thorough, explanatory and fair. You cant ask for more in such an important and complex profession.

So they give out a free exam. I have had the coupon and I noticed my cat has a abscess and wanted to use the free exam and then have him treated. Her words "No you will be charge the office visit as well" Well the doctor is already going to see what he has so why am I going to pay for a office visit when you are giving free exam coupon !!! I knew I would be paying for the treatment of the abscess. THEY MAKE NO DAMN SENSE. MONEY HUNGRY. NOT A GOOD WAY TO GET CUSTOMERS.

Great experiences over the last 4 years for my little dog. It sounds like the previous google user from 5 years ago has displaced anger issues over a grieving process. Everytime I come in they have my dogs name on the whiteboard, and the vets have been incredibly friendly. Animal care isnt always cheap, but they definitely arent the most expensive either. They have a moderate cost for excellent staff and great care.

My chihuhua was having congestive heart failure and i went there because it was close to my home. Being in a financial strain, i was in tears when i couldnt afford the tests and everything. The doctor worked with me and i was able to get his heart medicene and take him home. The doctor called several times to check on him. I am so pleased with this vet. They have showed me nothing but true compassion.

My little 4.5 month old chihuahua was dying with parvo and the vet wouldnt let me make monthly payment to get help. ALL THESE PEOPLE CARE ABOUT IS MONEY MONEY MONEY. Also, a month before his death I gave the vets over a thousand dollars in service to help my other chihuahua with a yeast infection and weak immune system. THEY DONT HELP ANIMALS, THEY KILL THEM!

Internal Screams

Ive been bringing Maxx here for almost a year now and we are still treated like new patients. Dr Becky Van Riper is awesome and super smart! Whenever we see her see sits down on the floor and lets Maxx walk up to her for sniffs and kisses. And...she knows her stuff, answers questions before I can ask (and I have unusual ones). Love this place!

I have known Dr. Van Riper and Dr. Armstrong since 1985 and would never take these two beautiful pups to anyone else. Yes, at times its a little costly but I know that value of good vets and medicine. I have had a few pets die and they were there to help me through the process. I truly am appreciative for their commitment to my pets.

Dr. Armstrong lacks compassion for her clients. She is rude and unprofessional. For example, she would incite that a patient is trying to save money over the health of their pet. It is ridiculous. They just want your money. Please take your services to a different facility.

The staff at VCA Elk Grove is exceptional!!! Dr. Grant, Dr. Larson are very knowledgeable and very helpful. I have two Olde English Bulldogges and they have received nothing but the best of care from everyone at VCA Elk Grove!!

No stars. The staff is great but a certain Dr. Armstrong is rude and aggressive. Stay away. will gladly take my business elsewhere thank you very much. poor poor customer service.

I highly recommend this vet. They are the best I have ever seen. Extremely caring and sincere. They explain everything and give you options and all of the staff is extremely nice.

The are way overpriced and dr Armstrong is is very rude and condescending when she talks. Wasted money going there and the labs cost twice what they should.
