OK this is going to be a chunk, but worth it, I promise: 1st let me preface with courageous vulnerability and say I have never had a pet as an adult before we rescued our german-shep pup, Phoenix, and I was the type of person who, if a friend said their dog/cat/rabbit-or-whatever was lost, hit by a car, or had to be put down, Id secretly think "No big deal, just get another one" O.O Yeah, I just said that. My thinking didnt change until just recently after 8 months of living with Phoenix, her swallowing a rubber bouncy ball unbeknownst to us, and being told after X-rays that without immediate (expensive) action, she would die; until the night we came home from X-rays and watched her buckling knees, her reddening eyes, her dehydrated nostrils, her conspicuous pain, and even amidst all this, her relentless desire to give and receive love.....it wasnt until then that I knew that my former lack of empathy for loss of animal life was completely egregious, and a huge mistake. I am also a teacher, and I teach my students that mistakes are marvelous, because they are learning opportunities, and so I really do live by this, and our experience with St. Louis Vet is a testament to that. We called dozens of vets who either wouldnt take extra pets, or were offering help at costs that were completely unpractical for our familys survival. We were beginning to think that our challenge was not saving her life, but having the courage to be with her as she transitioned back into the earth.....Dr. Tan was THE ONLY VET COMPASSIONATE ENOUGH TO ACCOMMODATE US IMMEDIATELY, AND MINDFULLY. He literally said, "I can tell you really want to save your dog, and I want to help you, and you should bring her in right away". Dr. Tan was busy, but he was calm, and immediately took Phoenix in for surgery. He got that ball out of her, cared for her overnight, and called us the next morning so we could pick her up, and we could instantly see her life force returning. 3 weeks after her surgery, she is right here as I write this, being silly playing with an ice cube and taking breaks to assume the rub-my-belly-and-love-me-position. All that said, I see mixed reviews here...Most great, some not so nice, and thats how the world works...cant please everybody. What I will say is that Dr. Tan, and the St. Louis vet team did their best to help us help Phoenix, and that effort is priceless. So lessons learned from this epic fail: 1. Vet clinics and hospitals do not get government funding, hence those outrageous prices originally solicited to us for surgery....and I get that part! Can you imagine the costs of vet supplies and meds?! Vets, like most of us humans, are a part of this often oppressive system called capitalism, and for these hospitals to survive, they have rules to follow, too. I imagine the woman behind the desk at St. Louis hospital has to deal with so much of that work, and I have empathy for that part. 2. Sometimes you have to pay for a lesson. 3. You cant put a price on life, or love. 4. Dr. Tan gets that. 5. No more bouncy balls! lol

I dont know how the hell these useless people are still in business but they literally watched my dog die and did absolutely NOTHING I dont know where these incompetent people got their licenses or what idiot is doing their hiring but DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT THEM. On the way into the clinic my dog (chingona) seemed to be having trouble breathing and had collapsed my grandma not being able to lift asked someone from the vet to help but not until after seeing the dog, going inside to see if ANYONE ELSE could help, coming out and saying "everyone is busy right now, oh and she pooped" my grandma had to ask again if he could please lift her and take her in she doesnt bite and he says "oh...okay". Once lifting her my dog went limp, seeming to pass out After laying her down on the lobby floor again he leaves to find someone else to help and asks where he dog can go and someone carelessly replies "room 5". The whole while my grandma is asking why arent you rubbing her chest or something ?! They take her to the room and again he leaves to get someone and returns with a woman who tells my grandma she needs to pull the dogs tongue out to open her airway and then leaves my grandma to find ANOTHER PERSON. DOES ANYONE HERE KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING ??? She tells my grandma to hold the dogs tongue out and continue rubbing her chest. By the time the third person comes she takes ONE LOOK and says "shes dead" with no more emotion than saying its cold outside. Everyone here needs a change of career if they dont have any compassion for animals and dont care to try to save them. No effort was even made to see what happened to my baby and Mrs. Tan is just as useless and heartless as the rest of them.

These vets are butchers and dishonest to boot. My dog was mauled and I was told that he did not need a cast and would walk normally after treatment. Not only is my dog permanently disabled and will never walk right again, but Dr. Tam has refused to refund my money ($700) and will not even give up the medical records -- which belong to me as I paid for the services. My new vets have requested the records in order to treat my dog but the Louis Veterinary Butchers (I cannot use the term "saint" in connection with this group) still will not provide copies. DO NOT GIVE SUCH UNPROFESSIONAL CONDUCT YOUR BUSINESS !!! If they screw up on your dogs, you were warned.

I totally disappointed ! after the surgery of my pitbull puppy he was 4 months old and weigh 30.8 pounds. they go by the weigh of the puppy or a dog for how much you will pay. Well anyway after they remove the bandage one of my dog ears was smaller than the other and it was going in and the other one was going straight . I`m very very disappointed with DR. TAN and the wife.. This is ALFRED ARDANAS residing at PITTSBURG CA. The name of my pitbull puppy is BRUTUS..

THE WORST EAR CROPPING EVER!!! After countless, and repeated surgeries, and broken promises; I had to say stop for the well being of my Doberman Pincher. He was all talk! You know what blew my top, is when he offered me one of his own Doberman, I was like WHAT!?!? my K9 is like family, I wouldnt trade him!....SMH!! I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS CLOWN! He gets negative stars but this is not an option. My poor k9 had stitches left on his ears to this day!

They registered my dog in 2013 as a dead cat. Apparently the microchip they used was previously registered in 2008 for the cat in their office. Its 2017 and they refuse to contact 24petwatch to fix the chip tracking number. I do not know if they re-use existing chips, but clearly I paid for my dog to be microchipped. I expect at least they would go through the motions of pretending to be professional. I do not know how they could mess this up.
