Several customers have had positive experiences at Oceana Pet Hospital. One customer spoke highly of the immediate attention and surgical intervention their pet received for a life-threatening condition. The new state-of-the-art building and spacious waiting room were also praised. The support staff is described as professional and a pleasure to deal with.
However, not all reviews are glowing. Some customers have had negative experiences, citing poor treatment and incorrect diagnoses that could have had severe consequences for their pets. One customer felt that the hospital was more interested in making money than in the well-being of the animals.
Another point of contention is the pricing. Some customers felt that the estimates provided for treatments were outrageously high. One customer was quoted almost $500 for a spay/neuter surgery and was also suggested additional tests that they felt were unnecessary.
On the flip side, some customers drove long distances to consult with the veterinarians at Oceana Pet Hospital. They were impressed by the team's compassion and expertise. One customer even stated that they felt their pet's life was saved due to the excellent care received at the hospital.

Three years ago I heard about the ‘new Vets in town’ from a good friend. She raved about how nice they were and the attention they paid to her dog. After listening to how happy she was I decided to make an appointment to meet with them to see if they might better meet my needs as well. I was so impressed with my meeting with Dr Tabai that I immediately had my dogs records transferred to their practice. Later this would turn out to be one of the best decisions of my life. Six months later, my precious little girl, Shoshona, Bloated (Gastric Dilation and Volvulus), a life threatening emergency condition which requires immediate surgery. We arrived at the Vets just prior to opening. The Vet Tech arrived, got the necessary information from me and was on the phone with the doctor. Within minutes the Vets had arrived and X-rays were being taken. Within 20 minutes of our arrival my little girl was in surgery. Thanks to the experience and skills of these wonderful doctors my little girl is alive and doing well. I always like to talk to other owners there with their pets while waiting for our appointments. Its amazing how many feel good stories I’ve heard about how the doctors have gone that extra mile to help a client and their pets. Their new state of the art building is beautiful. The waiting room is spacious and well planned. There is plenty of room for clients and their pets. I’ll never forget Dr Nia’s excitement when she spoke of the new building and how they would have room now for people to spend time alone and be comfortable while visiting their ill pets. This is something they were short on at their prior location and I think it speaks volumes of Dr. Nia’s dedication not only to the pets but their caregivers as well. Their support staff are professional and a pleasure to deal with. As the Mom to three German Shepherds I want only the best for them. By choosing Oceana Pet Hopital I know I have succeeded in giving them the best medical care the Bay Area has to offer. Great job everyone!

I highly recommend you stay away from these people. I wish I had read these reviews prior to ever going here. They only want your money. I received terrible treatment as well as an incorrect diagnostic. If I had listened to them, the consequences could have been life threatening for my dog. My dog was getting very sick very fast and I had to get to a vet without an appointment. I had been to Oceana one time before and I got terrible vibes from them. They made me feel stupid for asking questions, and if I didnt choose all the options the vet had set forth, I was made out to be a bad parent. I called around and couldnt manage to get an appointment anywhere last minute. I was only able to get in to Oceana as the last appointment of the day, which was another mistake. They clearly dont want to stay a minute late if they needed to. Not only were my previous impressions validated, the vet had given me an incorrect diagnostic this time. I was told my dog had pancreatitis. The only reason he tested positive for pancreatitis is because he had been vomiting. After taking my dog home, he continued to get much worse. The next day I took him to the emergency room. The treatment here was great. The doctor thoroughly explained everything. It turns out, my dog had a massive obstruction in his stomach and needed surgery to remove it. If I had listened to Oceana, the results could have been fatal. Also, during my visit to Oceana, I also got a fecal sample taken to check for parasites. I was told I would hear back by Monday. After not hearing anything, I called on Tuesday asking for the results. The lady told me with an attitude that they only call if the result are not negative. I told the woman about the surgery that my dog had received, and she told me she would call the emergency room and get the paperwork for his file. I said that wont be necessary, and she hung up. DO NOT GO HERE. There are plenty of veterinarians in the area that will care for you animal.

This is just my personal experience. One of my sisters loves this place and the other sister had a similar experience to mine. She got ripped off badly. Im glad I didnt let the vet do any work off of my cats outrageous $1279 ESTIMATE!!! RIP OFF!! Oh....while in the waiting room, I heard her quote almost $500 for a spay/neuter surgery!!! Which she suggested a blood panel be done!!! You can get that done at a spay/neuter clinic for cheap! My cat went in because he had an abscess on his foot and something going on with his chin (small abscess perhaps?) I was expecting to get some antibiotics and be on my way.....NO WAY!!! The vet said she wanted to do a small surgery to see if there was anything inside his abscess, wanted to run a blood panel, do a biopsy on his chin, test him for feline AIDS (which had been done before. He is indoors) and vaccinate him. Oh top of this, she was rude when I questioned if all this was necessary. I did not do anything on the estimate. I told he vet tech to send me home with antibiotics. I couldnt get out of there fast enough! I ended up leaving there for $70 antibiotics in hand. My sister helped me squeeze pus out of his foot, we cleaned it with alcohol and put ointment on it and Its been 5 days and his foot and chin are healing nicely!!!! Im so glad I didnt get scammed by this vet practice!!! PLEASE BEWARE!! Do your research before hand too. If you go in there with knowledge, It could save you a ton of $$$ You arent obligated to do everything on the estimate. Dont be fooled by these people!!! We get our vaccinations done at a clinic which can also save you $$$ NEVER AGAIN!!! Ive looked for different vets in the Bay Area and found a few very reasonable ones.

I drove 250 miles to see Dr Tabai for a second opinion because I was told that my Dexter had but days to live. I am so impressed by Dr Tabai and his teams compassion and their expertise. Their compassion seemed to flow through to Dexter whom up to that time had been uneasy. They made my Dexter feel comfortable. They lovingly cradled my baby and also made me feel comfortable. They even accommodated my other babies for they were nervous. Dr Tabai and his assistant took care of Dexter and thoroughly explored all possible causes to reach a diagnosis. They also reviewed his previous X-rays and lab work that was done from his vet and the ER. They patiently listened to me in great details e.g. what Ive fed him and his behavior. Dr. Tabai calmed my nerves and reassured me that he would care for him. Dr Busey took the time to examine Dexter. He explained his findings as he performed the ultrasound. He recommended a special diet for him. Dexter was prescribed with medications and very responsive to them. I was also given instructions how to care for him and assured that I can call on them at anytime. It has been almost two months since my visit to Oceana Pet Hospital and I am very happy to say that today Dexter is doing great. I really feel that my Dexters life was saved because of the wonderful work of the people at Oceana Pet Hospital. I am forever GRATEFUL to you all!!! BLESSINGS TO YOU ALL!!!
