Never have I had a worst experience with a dentist. Let me break it down for you: Visit one: Had an emergency and was in lots of pain. They saw me promptly, and took X-rays of the injured area. A red flag came up when the dentist didnt even glance at my teeth of the x-ray, but deemed that I needed a filling. First impression of the office: kind of dingy and drab and a little messy, but hey, at least it was clean. Staff nice but totally disorganized and not very well informed. Got a quote for a metal filling. After some confusion, was told i was actually getting an amalgam filling. Visit Two: Told to come early to discuss filling materials. Sat and waited for OVER TWO HOURS. No really. I think it was actually closer to 2.5 hours. Finally in to see dentist. Get a shot of novocaine, then he disappears for another 30 minutes or so. Apparently they double-book their dentist, he works on two patients at once. Long procedure with frequent departure by dentist. Eventually told I need a crown, not a filling, which will cost me almost three times as much. Maybe if he had actually looked at my teeth the first time, we would have all been prepared. The topper for me was when the dentist and his assistance got into an argument WHILE THEIR HANDS WERE IN MY MOUTH about who was going to put on my temporary. Apparently, the dental assistant just isnt paid enough to do this. Could not believe the lack of professionalism. In between: While waiting for my crown (having been fitted with a temporary, I experienced a lot of pain. They told me this was normal and the crown was probably not sealed tight enough. Visit Three: My appointment was CANCELED but no one bothered to tell me! Got a weird feeling and luckily called them before driving all the way out there. Still, furious and livid as I took a half-day from work, and would have appreciated a little courtesy from them. Apparently, my crown was not delivered on time....having a hard time believing they didnt just forget to order it. At this point I am ready to grab my X-rays and my crown (if it is ever delivered), and RUN!

Took two hours (5-7pm) to complete my treatment due to an unclear treatment plan from the initial exam. Most of that time I spent reclined and waiting, taking twice as long as necessary. No escape from the blasting level of 50s pop I was forced to listen to for two hours. No sound barrier between me and the person in the next room. No privacy at all - I got to listen to every slurp of a drainage tube and every word while I sat ignored and twiddling my thumbs, then he had to wait on the one doc and listen to me during my turn. I was charged $350 as a deposit for a crown that hadnt even been verified it could be done or prepared to be placed yet and not refunded immediately when it wasnt possible. Days later, still no refund and no answer when I called or emailed. I was also told I would be referred to a specialist in the DeltaCare plan to find out about "crown lengthening" but that didnt happen either. Not a pleasant visit, no followup referral as promised, and they havent given my money back or responded why in days - completely unprofessional, go elsewhere.

I strongly recommend Petaluma Family Dental...Disregard the older negative posts...many changes have been made, and, I am very, very satistfied with the entire staff of this group, from the receptionists to the Dr.s. I have been around the block or 2 over the years, and, PFD gets my highest ratings! I have minimal Insurance via a supplemental Kaiser Advantage plus Plan, and, the costs for some serious dental work was well within range of what I have paid in the past, and, thought they did a very fair job of settling my payments for the extensive dental plan I needed. Dr. Mak, Dr. Sanchez get FIVE HUGE STARS!!!!!! I have told all my friends to go to Petaluma Family Dental. BTW, the care is gentle, and, they really make sure you are extra comfortable during the entire procedure...very compassionate staff!

To Whom it May Concern: I want to congratulate Petaluma Family Dental for its change in management, lab, and most especially for Dr Miles. In the past, I had a exceptionally bad relationship with Petaluma Family Dental which resulted in a letter to the California Dental Board. I was without my dentures for seven months and I could get no help from anybody connected the company. Then a new manager in the office was hired, a new lab was found and most important, a new dentist...Dr Miles. I cantt say enough about dedication to his patients. Because of him, I now have dentures that fit. I thank him so much and now tell family and friends to go to Petaluma Family Dental Care for reasonable results to be expected. Rebecca Work

For three months Ive been getting the run-a-round trying to get a credit posted to my moms Carecredit account. The original dental work that was charged to moms Creditcare account in advance of receiving any treatment wasnt even necessary. I insisted my mother get a second opinion and another dentist said he couldnt see any problems that needed treatment. And if that wasnt bad enough its also like Carecredit is in on the rip-off. We have sent Carecredit forms they sent us disputing the charges saying no services were rendered by the dentist and to remove the charge two times and they say theyve never received anything. What has this country come to!

Watch your wallet! Petaluma Dental was contracted with my insurance company so I went there to have my sons wisdom teeth removed. I had a third son whose wisdom teeth were removed at another dentists office and the insurance paid most of the cost. Petaluma failed, despite my multiple requests, to get preauthorization or bill my insurance co. correctly. They told me they erred and owed me money, then changed their minds. I recommend you look elsewhere for a more ethical dental office.

I was referred here to this dental office by a friend who is a patient. When I called to make an appointment, the phone was answered by a friendly and helpful receptionist. My first visit was very pleasant - the whole staff is very friendly and welcoming. The doctor answered my questions to my satifaction. Im going back!
