My Mother was here recently for about 10 days and this place was horrible! The nicest thing I can say about it is that when you walk through the lobby that is appears clean and you feel as if you are in a hotel not a medical care center. My Mother spent 3 days in bed in a diaper because it took 3 days & multiple calls to get a bedside commode. Even then, it would take an average of an hour each time she called for any assistance, so was then forced to crap herself. When I complained to one of the CNAs I was told that they are terribly understaffed and unfortunately if they cant get to her in time, she would just need to use the diaper. My response was, would you like to be forced to use a diaper when you have a bedside commode 2 feet away because you couldnt get assistance in a timely manner? Unacceptable! Pain medications were missed, Bedsheets were not changed when they were supposed to be, food delivered was cold, multiple people would say they would be right back and never returned, my Mother was left sitting once in her wheelchair for 3 hours waiting to be put back to bed, her blood sugar levels were all over the place because it was not checked frequently enough and due to delays. My Mother is a Type 1 adolescent diabetic, so this was on the verge of placing her in a coma. I got her out of there as soon as possible, because I am certain, they were going to kill her out of neglect. When I complained I had a call from the Business Administrator who could not answer the most simple of questions: How often does the Doctor come? How often is Physical Therapy? When was her last pain pill? When was her blood sugar last checked? What was her last blood sugar reading? When will the bedside commode come? When can the air mattress be removed? He had to check with the Nurses Station, the Treatment Team, the Maintenance Department, The P.T Dept., the CNA, the P.A., to get the questions answered. With as many different people and departments there were, nobody knew crap! The final act of incompetence was when I went to pick up my Mom after she was discharged. They set her in a wheelchair and had me go get the car to pull up front. I waited 35 minutes in the car, then went back in. My Mom was still sitting waiting in the wheel chair while the girl that was supposed to be wheeling her out was chatting in the hall with another worker. I wheeled past her and then got the "Im so sorry, I forgot all about you!" This place is rated 5 starts! I shudder to think what anything less than 5 stars would entail! This post made me rate with at least 1 star, I wanted to rate negative 5 stars!

Our experience has been horrible as I have a dear friend that is in there for hospice care. First they kept giving her food she wouldnt and couldnt eat, whenever she pushed her button it took a long time for anyone to come and help her, after two weeks she is having a hard time swallowing. We had a "care meeting" and her diet was changed but they still brought the wrong diet. We all started bringing food in that we knew she liked. Though she didnt eat much it was satisfying knowing she enjoyed what she had. I was there this past Monday and noticed a lot of junk in her mouth so I got her toothbrush and used a washcloth and brought out a lot of undigested and gross looking food. I then wiped it out again with a cold washcloth which she just wanted to suck on as her mouth and lips were dry. To make a long story short hospice came in Wednesday and found that they had not been giving her the medicine they prescribed because one of the nurses was unsure how to measure it. Really, a licensed nurse was uncomfortable giving a patient medication expressly prescribed by hospice. This hospice worker also cleaned this patients mouth out again on Wednesday and it was full of junk again. I have already filed a grievance, contacted another service who will be coming to investigate and am reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. How they get a rating of a five through Medicaid is beyond me. I was generous in giving a 2 rating as their are three CNAs and two RNs that appear very caring. I would rather have a plain looking building with much better service then some gorgeous building where Case Management is always in meetings and you have to hunt down staff to care for your loved ones. Please dont let the aesthetics of the building fool you, you will regret your loved one being there and this isnt just my opinion. There will be more opinions on here soon from another patients family.

I have arrived to Arlington Gardens care center around 5:30pm on Tuesday June 13,17 with private Ambulance Assistant when they drop me off there was no one in the front desk to help us finally we found someone the women was very rude & did not give us any greeting @ all, they went ahead & gave me a room # us soon as they drop me off to my room that I was assigned to. Private Ambulance Assistant ask them to turn on A/C do to that I was not feeling well. The room was very hot. One of the Nurse which was a male ask, maintenance to turn it on. So I was waiting patiently for someone to know that I was here & to at least get a greeting & let me know that they were my nurse or something. I continue on waited for 1hr.& 20min., I kept ringing the nurse bell like 5 times,No one came. Until the same male nurse came by my door & Assistant another patient. And I ask him if anybody was going to Assistant me & turn on the A/C because it was hot his response was that he was very busy. I told them that I been sitting in this room for an 1hr.& 20min. With no Assistant he was very unprofessional. And said to hold on so I waited longer well to get to my point the A/C was never turn on , my medication was not order on time he had to give me someone else if anything.Because I was in pain. My nexts pill was @ 1:00 am. Other nurse that was here do to other leavening and my medication still did not arrive. He tried on given me Tylenol which I said no.I needed my other pills to relaxes my nerves & for my swollen to go down from my leg do to my broken knee. So the gave me same thing they gave me last night which that only help like for 4 hrs. Which Im still in pain, and will get my medications @ 9:00 am. Which Im very disappointed because I missed my two pills that I need to take Do to my pain. It is 7:00 am Wednesday 14, 17 & no one has came to tell me any thing about the facility policy.

We placed mom here after her massive stroke on June 11, 2016. This place looks beautiful and has their 5 stars on the walls, but dont let that fool you. BEWARE! They only have ONE RN on duty for the entire facility, they have a 26 to one ratio for LVNs. There is a revolving door of CNAs. So....one night I called to check on my mom at 3am......waitied 20 mins for someone to answer the front desk phone. The LVN told me she was "one her belly" and sleeping comfortably. MOM HAS NO LEFT SIDE MOBILITY FROM HER STROKE! Found out the next morning he got my mom mixed up with the patient next to her, but worse yet, moms sleeping pill meds were not given to her, they were given to the patient next to her!! Dealing with the nurses up at the front desk is a nightmare.....on one occasion, while trying to get info about why they called me to tell me moms blood pressure had jumped sky high, we stood there for 20 mins while the "Doctor" (if you could call her that) and the LVN, argued back and forth about why mom computer data wasnt updated with this very important information and therefor the "Doctor" couldnt do anything for my mom. When I got angry about this, one of the other nurses went over to the LVN and patted her on the back as said "do you need chocolate" in a sarcastic voice and then flipped her hair and said "I need a break, I cant take this anymore". So unprofessional. About this time someone came running up to the desk to say mom was having chest pains......what a BLESSING IN DISGUISE! We got her out of there and after a short stay at Kaiser, we placed her at AFVW. Best thing we ever did! She is getting much better and the staff their are very caring and family friendly. They really listen to your concerns and DO something about them!
