I was admitted here in the adolescent unit about a month ago, while being at Saint Judes hospital waiting to be transported there, my mom looked it up and we were both worried because of all the bad reviews we saw. Upon arriving there, it was around 5pm on a Thursday and thats when the kids have school. I had to talk to a nurse and answer her questions and sign papers and I had to see the doctor to get checked out and everything. The rooms were super cold but they said to just ask for blankets. All the nurses that were there while I was there were nice, there was only two nurses who were rude. I got a new nurse each morning who just asked the same questions and I got a new night nurse every night. Theres a room called the day room and I choose to be out there all the time they let us instead of just being stuck in the room but they have lock downs when people have a breakdown or something and the time a lockdown can vary so youre just stuck in your room with your roommates. In my room, there was 4 beds total and we had our own bathroom and shower but I heard some other rooms didnt have their own bathroom. One thing is boys and girls are seperated for everything. We are not allowed to talk to the opposite gender or even be near them. When I was there, there was about 13 of us total and out of that only being 3 boys there. There was different phases or levels 1-3 and they had different privledges but in my opinion I found them stupid but on phase 3 you could get take out food twice a week. I honestly didnt find it that bad, the food wasnt bad but not the best thing ever and they gave us a lot of snacks like jello or chips or cheese its or pudding or gram crackers and more and there was always these things full of juices we could drink. I didnt find that place beneficial at all but it wasnt a bad place to be in. I wanted to write a review because I was scared going because of all the bad reviews but I just always stayed in the say room and went to all the groups because if you do and just sit there and answer what they ask you itll help you leave faster and if you make your bed and keep your hygiene up, itll also help you leave faster. Theres groups everyday and I didnt find them helpful at all but thats just me. On weekends you get more free time which means more time to watch movies out in the day room and more phone time to call people. I made the best out of it by just always being out and going to the groups and answering all the questions and being cooperative. You get to go outside and we played volleyball and we had free time to walk outside in the backyard but its all gated and high walls and you cant be in 10 feet of it but it was nice being outside and not stuck inside all day. Just make the best out of it and youll be okay there. I was so scared because all of the comments and I just didnt want someone else to be so scared

Patients are treated like livestock or children instead of patients. Their rights are violated, they are never taken seriously, and patients are helpless to stop the 14-day hold process. My wife was there, and the ridiculous Dr. Ross wrote a report saying she had been hurting herself and that she fashioned a noose in her room... the cuts were from BEFORE she got there, and the "noose" was a twisted shirt sitting on her bed, not tied to anything nor tied into a loop. She was sexually messed with by a STAFF member, and that male staff member got transfered because of it. Dr. Ross said she is delusional and making it up. Really? Why was the staff fired then? Hmm... They never believe anything a patient says, and they dont care what the family says. Never have your family member admit themself there... it will be hell, and they could spend up to 3 months there for minor incidents or for crap that the staff cant even substantiate.

I was recently there and let me tell you instead of helping me they traumatized me more I was in the adolescent unit . What I noticed they do is that the staff messes with your mind a lot. When your hold is done sometimes you have to way 2 more days or even more . Even if so.etimes your feeling better .They will tell you that you are leaving and than say oh its up to your doctor he is the one that decides everything .And if you ask for your doctor they will tell you he is gone and no their when its time for your hold to finish .This was one of the worst experience.ever people there are on medication , and when they dont receive that medication things can go bad . Also they dont let you go outside they treat you like animals. Please dont take anyone here especially your kids the staff there will make them feel insane.

I read reviews here every 6 months and thought id leave mine. The good and bad. The good is i was at rock bottom alcoholic bad. Lost job car almost family...got sent here 2 years ago and stayed 5 days. Im sober since. Thats the good and best thing. The bad? Everything in every review is true and i believe all of it, it would be impossible to experience everything described but i was strapped down, given medication, never got a visit, got into a fight w security, and slammed. (Dude was huge what can i say) . i was very bad though, hallucinations and no sleep plus like i said i was the worst alcoholic going through worst withdrawls. Anyway, my recomendation to soneone reading this, dont send someone here and sign off to let them be held. My mom never forgives herself.

Very upset. I was recently released after a 3 day stay. I was told by one of the nurses specifically what medications I would be prescribed upon going home, given that they also give you medications while in there. Then I was told by Dr. Michael Bishara M.D. that he didnt say that, and that I dont need them. Went home and within an hour I was within terrible withdrawals (and I was one of the very few people to attend every single group session, I guess I should have just laid in bed sick). While sick after my release, I spoke to a young lady who was released a day before me. She was give full prescriptions, with sleep aids, etc. I guess guys are just supposed to "tough it out" Dr. Bishara. Shame on you. Send your loved ones to any other medical detox but here.

I was patient there 3 times, each time worse than time before. I was new to this world of "mental health care." If there was "care" there, I never saw any. I could give so many, many examples of the staffs incompetence, but I think this horrific example sums it up. A good friend of mine checked himself into hospital because not feeling well. They checked him in, took him to his room, AND DIDNT CHECK ON HIM FOR 6 HOURS ....AND THEY FOUND HIM DEAD!!!! HIS BODY HAD ALREADY BEGUN TO STIFFIN!!! HE WAS ONLY 36 YEARS OLD!!! No one checked on him for 6 hours!!! R.I.P. EMILIO! MUCH LOVE, FOREVER. DONT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONES TO THIS DEATH HOSPITAL. THEY DONT CARE ABOUT THEM! PlEASE BELEIVE ME!! GOD BLESS.
