Patient be aware!! this hospital was taking over by mission about a year ago and they fired 75% of their staff. Yes the hospital is running only on 25% staff. I was sent there when my doctor thought i needed urgent care. he called them a head of time to let them know about my condition.when we arrived @ ER they said they dont have any beds and waited 1. 45 min before being admitted. the place was clearly under staff. they had beds but not enough people. it would take forever for a nurse to come back after they would say Ill b right back to change that bandage for you. it seemed like they had hard time finding supplies. each time they came back they were missing something and had to go back to get something else. they warped my leg but when i got up to go to restroom the wrap fell off after an hr. then i found out that most of the nurses and doctors were contracted through a third party agency. that explained why they didnt know where things were and why the amateur job of wrapping. long story we checked in at 4:30 pm and didnt leave the place till midnight. most of the time just laying around waiting for very basic stuff that had they brought it the first time didnt need to come back and get distracted. at one point she left my wound open for 30 min going back looking for something. than she came back wrapped it and didnt have tape so went back again didnt come back for over 45 min. if you are in pain dont go there.

The experience I have had with mission hospital since it has been under St. Joseph is exceptional. Pacific Coast Recovery is located on the 4th floor of the hospital and is headed by an exceptional doctor, a doctor that is recovering himself. The entire staff is made of recovering nurses, counselors, and assistants. There is a inpatient and outpatient program. The outpatient recovery meets 3 nights a week and Sunday afternoon. The entire program is based on the 12 step plan ,with a lot of group process/sharing, plus spiritual, meditation, yoga, addiction disease classes, and light excersise. If YOU are serious about YOUR SOBRIETY and can put at least as much effort into getting clean-sober as you do drinking and using than this is your program. Beware of the May "sweet" kids from orange county that are heroin recovering adicts. Most are forced by parents to be there and most fail and are extremely disruptive. Concentrate on yourself and do what the staff says. Attached is a pic of the sunset as seen from the room where many process/yoga meeting are held. Go for it.you can change your life with Dr. Hedricks help. I have been in the emergency room twice, both times receiving a doctors personal care and conversation about my condition. I totally recommend mission -Laguna hospital.

This hospital is not very busy, so there isnt a long wait in the ER, but at the same time they seem to drag their feet and take a long time getting you in and out, the nurses are a lot friendlier that before it was taken over by mission hospital, it seems like a better place now. I would recomend it for minor injuries and illnesses. But mission is right up crown valley a few miles away at the same time. Minus one star for the slow treatment and the occassional nurse with a bad attitude or a doctors that just seems not to care. I used to work on an ambulance and when we brought patient here they would ask us why they needed to come here and tell us that they could have gone to another hospital. Even when they had no patients(that was before mission took over) but 1 or 2 of those nurses are left still in the ER

I went there for a very painful jaw condition that lasted all day and waited for 30 min in an empty ER, the staff were rude as if screaming in pain was something voluntary, I was crying from the pain and all they did was give me a very little amount of Advil, if I wanted Advil I could have just got to Rite Aid. I know damn well other hospitals would have x-rayed me and gotten further testing, all they did was give me two little pills after talking to me for 12 minutes.

I have gone here three times in the past year with my now 4 year-old for various aliments. Today the staff went well and above expecations when he came in today with a head laceration. The staff got him in right away, and the nurses and aides made him feel comfortable and happy. Dr. Dodge was also very attentive to him and talked to him on a personal level when giving him stitches. He never cried and we were in and out at a reasonable time. Thank you everyone today.

I visited the emergency room recently because of a severe pain in my left forearm. At admission I was well taken care of; the service was great and the nurses were professional. The doctor, on the other hand, was incompetent; spent less than 2 minutes with me; sent me for unnecessary x-rays; prescribed painkillers ... Seven days later I had to visit a specialist, and now Im in a 3-month treatment plan. I hope your doctors can do better with future patients.

Always better than mission in mission viejo. Went to mission viejo with painful kidney stone. 45 mins to speak with someone. told me was a 4 hour wait to see someone or get pain meds. called Laguna.... 15 minute drive and received meds for pain in another 15 mins. note: they are not allowed to tell you that the wait is minimal or nonexistent in Laguna.

Have had surgeries at both the Mission Viejo and Laguna Beach campuses. At Laguna Beach, I was able to stay in recovery for quiet a long time. One of the nurses commented if I had been in Mission Viejo, that would have released me 2-3 hours earlier. Sometimes bigger isnt always better. Small hospital, more one on one and personable.
