yesterday I went to E.R. with an ongoing condition, which has gone on for about 11 years now and the cause remains unknown. I think its pyloric-stenosis, the adult version because most of the symptoms match and I had it has a child, also my oldest son had it as a child and later developed the adult version . His symptoms very much like mine. But it was ruled out by one of the specialist. Maybe I am thinking he missed something! So I am very frustrated and every time I go to E.R. it is an awful experience. My sphinter closes tight and bile builds up, incredible awful experience and yet from the outside apparently I just do not appear as badly as I feel. Every trip to E.R. I have to give them the entire story over and over 20 time or more. and depending on how long the attach has been going on it becomes very hard to think coherence, so the story is not always as lucid as it might be. On one of my visits they gave dilotin and it stabilized me within 15 minutes. Great! except some doctors gave me less than the dosage that worked, some not at all, resulting in an early return of the symptoms and no help at all in the latter. once I understood this fact on subsequent visits to E.R. I made sure to indicate that information. Sometimes it was received well, other times the doctors were doubtful. I made the administration of E.R. aware of my problem last year. Yesterday, I was treated by a fine E.R. doctor G. Gomez who bad a pun I apparently did not get at the time, because of my circumstance. Bottom line he got me stable in no time at all. I appreciate his expertize. My frustration is with the entire system that some how keeps putting me in very difficult circumstances coming to E.R. and needing a powerful drug to stabilize me. But it works and saves me from the attach. Some of the doctors tried different drugs, muscle relaxants, so far only the dilotin. I have no opinion I just want the episode to be over -- what ever E.R. can do I appreciate. what ever drug works its there deal not mind, but I know what works.I am open to anything better. somebody speak up. All in all St Joseph is a fine hospital, except for my unusual condition, all my other work at the hospital has been pretty good. But yesterday about an hour out of E.R. and heavily medicated I wrote a scathing review of my experience, but today I wrote this one. more exact! and to the point It would help if somebody in the system would make a standard policy for treating me when I go to E.R. that is until someone figures out what causes the attacks. In the mean time showing up at E.R. with abdominal pain id very ify, sometimes 30 minutes, sometimes hours. That is the torture part, while my inside are dissolving in acid. It can be hard to wait.

I came in with a serious fever, nausea and chills. Wasnt able to hold down food or water so after nearly a day of pain, I decided to go to urgent care. The place was a mess. Littered with unorganized, untrained, unhelpful workers who cared more about shuffling patients into different forms of waiting than creating an atmosphere that was remotely tolerable. After 3 hours of terrible lobby service, I finally was brought into a room. They asked me (for the 8th time) what the problem was, then I proceded to wait another 30 minutes before the doctor, an older man who seemed more interested in sleeping than listening to my issues. He said I was dehydrated (obviously) and asked to put me on an IV for fluids. Oh yeah, and for the pain, an Advil. After the 2 hour drip was finished, I kindly asked a passing nurse if she could call the doctor and if they could remove the needle from my arm. She replied snarly "NO. We have to wait till the doctor gets here." After about 6 hours of me asking agitated nurses where the doctor was (by the way, this is 6 hours AFTER the 2 hour drip, AFTER the 3 hour wait), I was yelled at my the nurse for my "insolence." She said I was acting like a baby and they were doing everything they could to find the doctor, who, for all we know, was at the bar down the street. I talked to an intern and he was the only person who seemed remotely sympathetic. I asked him if he could remove the IV, which at this point, my arm was in so much pain I was having trouble seeing—and he said he couldnt, but that there was legally no "obligation" for me to stay at the hospital. He basically winked and left. After a final 30 minutes of painful waiting, I decided I had enough and removed the needle from my own vain. I got up, wiped off the blood, put on my clothes, walked outside, past the assistant desks, past the check in area, outside to the parking lot...without a single staff member raising an eye. Not a good place to go if you like being treated like a human. Oh yeah, then the hospital had the audacity to charge me $800 - and yes, I have insurance. $800 to spend one of the worst nights of my life with a tube in my arm and an Advil in my stomach. AVOID THIS PLACE.

Kathryn, one of the occasional nursing supervisors at St. Hospital, has brought their 4 star rating ( 220 long emergency room wait times even if you are vomiting blood and bleeding rectally and are brought in by ambulance you may be put in the waiting room and have to wait for 12 hours prior to getting admitted and getting a bed. This is quite unfortunate. Every person I discussed the problems with this nursing manager as soon as I mentioned her name theyre faced with which are smart and they knew exactly what I was about to say without having to say it. Also, in the emergency room it is very dependent on which ER doctor you get as to the type of treatment you receive. My husband has severe PTSD and is supposed to be with his service dog very well-trained small dachshund. Twice she has contacted the Humane Society and he has called me hysterical to come get the dog before she was taken away from him in the guy did not appear very humane. He had a rod with a thing to grab the dog by the neck and a portable cage to put her in. My husband has stayed there five times recently. of course the other five times this Katheryn was not on at the time or not working at the time or whatever, so of course there was no problem. But because he was admitted on the just before the weekend I couldnt speak with anyone above her to resolve the problem and I was supposed to receive a call from risk management a person named Marty Jones I believe regarding this issue and never received the call. It is really disappointing because usually st. Joseph takes great care of my husband. It is really irritating that if you have a new or talk to her the wig out about sending you home with prescriptions for an aspirin and just dont spend hardly any time with the patient and if you go there and you have family and friends you want them to advocate for you to the maximum ability so that you get the best treatment. Im still waiting to hear from Marty Jones 2 to 3 weeks later LOL Im sorry Kathryn has destroyed the reputation of this Hospital
