I was here once in 2013 back when it was called Coastal Communities Hospital. It was old, filthy, dirty, and run down. Smelt horrible too. Incompetent nurses and front end staff. Little to no amenities, very typical for a hospital like this. I was told I would be given an injection for the pain I was experiencing. I initially refused but was very rudely told it was protocol (that was my biggest turn off to this place -- I thought almost all hospitals moved away from injections for pain meds????). About 9pm comes around a very nice male nurse comes in to give me the injection. Told him I was scared of needles (really am) and he calms me down a bit makes a bit of small talk with me and puts the needle in my rear end, screaming in pain too. Thought I was gonna be 5150ed or something. Forget his name but the nurse who did the "dirty work" by giviing me the pain injection was extremely kind and compassionate. I was then discharged and given absolutely no discharge instructions or anything (unprofessional). Im scared of this place will never return but that one nurse was my saving grace like a guardian angel or something. Thats the only thing that raises this from less than one star to a solid two stars. Hoping to never return here again, Hoag, St. Josephs, OC Memorial, and UCI are all much newer, much larger, much cleaner, much nicer, and are all far better choices. If youre in an ambulance, request one of those 4 hospitals!!! Update, lobby and records staff are super nice, lobby recently remodeled, yet security guard was creepy and everything around the lobby is still really old inside. Would not want to be back here

I REGRET soooo bad not doing research on this Coastal Communities Hospital before bringing my little brother here...It is one of the worst hospitals Ive ever been to, nurses know NOTHING!!! You ask them a question and they say they dont know, you ask for the doctor and they say his busy with other patients or that he was here but then he left...he never even introduced himself since the beginning. They take too long to give yout test results. They want to keep patients longer! Very unprofessional and rude staff that doesnt care a bit about their patients lives. Please save your time and go with professionals who really know what they are doing and who really care about their patients lives. I have no idea why this place is still running.

Would not EVER recommend this hospital to anyone. Came into the er by ambulance with severe flank pain. Immediately the nurse took his bad night out on me and said i needed to be quiet (who in thier right mind is quiet when they are in severe pain) then has not checked on me one time in over 3 hours. Still in tons of pain, sick to my stomach and NO DAMN ANSWERS. bad enough their ct machine is outside in a trailer.... sigh oh to put a cherry on top the dr hassled me about my urine sample to rule out infection which i gave them when i first got here and was still sitting on the nurses damn desk so now i have to wait even longer

Pleasantly surprised - This was the nearest emergency hospital that took my kids insurance. We are quite spoiled, living in Costa Mesa we typically go to Hoag. We walked into the small 12 - 14 person reception lobby, of this older hospital and my mind prepared for the worse. I was pleasantly surprised by the people and the quality of service. All in all we were out in about 4 hours. Waiting about a half an hour, then in the SMALL curtain areas while they treated my daughter for severe stomach pains. Nurses and staff were all quite pleasant, professional and helpful.

I had excellent treatment going in for hernia surgery. I cant think of any one thing that could have been made better. From the time I walked in, through the pre-op, post op, (I slept through the surgery but both areas of work feel fine now). They were both friendly and helpful every step of the way, right to the front exit. They made this all go smooth and painless for my repairs. Id feel good coming to this Hospital any time in the future, if need be. I went to this Hospital for nose surgery, 34 years ago. It was a great hospital then and still is today. Arty

Coastal communities hospital is the worst ever the nurses keep you waiting to long, dont know anything on whats going on when you ask them a question, some of them have attitude and are nice, the food was nasty, the security guard have nasty attitude, the doctors are never there plus they have attitude also. I will never go over there again. plus the rooms have three people instead of two with one tv they should have three tv that works to. I have to say the some of cna and nurses are okay but the rest are so rude and like to stare at you when you walk on by.

There were patients stored in the hallways overdosing on drugs, I actually informed the staff of an ambulance technician trying to get their attention through the window, patient-Doctor time=10 minutes but patient time in hospital= 4hours 30 minutes. I was quite disgusted by the facility and the experience. I listened to employees swearing about how long and obnoxious their process takes, imagine how we feel! Overall- gross, unsafe and trashy.

My grandfather went into the ER three times in one month with complaints of pain and each time he was told they cant find anything wrong with him and sent him home with Vicodin. Three weeks after his last visit he was admitted once again and they finally found what was wrong, liver cancer. We lost him in one week. Ive lost three loved ones to this hospitals incompetence. Stay away from it if you can.

Motherinlaw was treated for an infected toe and was released after a week of being kept for multiple tests....only to be discharged without explanation, a couple of days after she had to go an ER of a different hospital and had her toe and part of her foot amputated, they said that she would have never been discharged in her condition and that this hospital has had many complaints about malpractice!!!

Only waited 30 minutes to get admitted to their ER. I liked that they werent as busy in comparison to other ERs. Other ERs are too busy and overwhelmed with other patients that theyre unable to give you the medical attention you need. I quickly got my hand stitches and given home care discharge instructions. All Staff and the doctor were great and easy going.
