I am 70 years old and have been in many emergency rooms in my life. This one treated me horribly. First of all I came in because I was urinating every five minutes for over an hour this morning and I had pain in my back where my kidneys were. I had to call someone for another reason this morning and she said the same thing happened to her mother and they let it go too long and it caused all kinds of complications When I was discharged they indicated on my paperwork they treated me for fatigue and weakness. Hello that was not even close. It is no wonder this morning I got up with the same issue And it wasnt in in til I was almost discharged the first time that they noticed my blood pressure was 200/100. It was only because the nurse was paying attention. The doctor was dismissive and treated me like a child. I am from a medical family and can tell a bad doctor when I see one. He shouldnt have a medical license. He has an awful bedside manner. Even the guy who wheeled me out had a bad attitude and he was studying to be a nurse! I know we have a nursing shortage but we shouldnt let every non empathetic person become one My son has less than a 30 second encounter with this person and he said who is that guy he really is someone with a bad attitude I have never been in an emergency room where they didnt have a call button for the nurse ( I had to go to the bathroom several times and the only way to get someone was to yell ). I wasnt offered at so much as a glass of water. I will just go back to Hoag in Newport Beach in the future even if the time frame means the difference between life and death. Because if it was a life-and-death issue this would not be a good place to go! The one thing then Im absolutely sure of was that they needed my bed. They were trying to get me out of there because I wasnt as important as the next person apparently and they did get me out of there without solving my problem. And Ill bet I heard "I know you need my bed" andat least 20 times while I was there and probably more

This is the least thing that I can do for my dad who passed away in the hoag irvine hospital hopping it never happens to anyone else. I have all the respects for many great nurses and doctors there, however, this hospital also has a few careless staff whose malpractice and negligence contributed to my dads death :(. My dad had to use folly catheter. When the hospital staff put it in for him, first, it was misplaced and they didnt realize it. after a day and half, my dads body got swollen so badly and they diagnosed so many acute problems such as kidney and long malfunctions. My dad was so in pain and they never checked whether urine could come out or not. Any time that I think about it makes me mad. After a day and half, they realized that the folly catheter was misplaced :( His doctor told me that this incident was reported to the supervisor of the nurse but my question always was no doctor could check this crucial thing?! after that my dad got fever (most likely because of infection due to the spreading urine to his body) pretty much every day and after 8 days he passed away because of unknown infection. Any time that I think about how much pain my dad had to go because of their negligence it makes me cry. how much they can be ignorant about folly catheter, such an important and sensitive device:(

Horrible Emergency Room ever! I took my wife for pregnamcy abdominal pain right at 2017 new year time at 12 midnight . The staff were having party and joking around without paying attention to your situation. My main complain starts with the nurse name Rebecca Rowe who never answered my questions and every time she was freaking out or refusing to answer my questions. At first she took my wifes vein in a horrible way that her blood about half a tube was spilling on the bed without any attention. She said its OK and she just did clean the area. For every normal question that I had she said Im not fighting with you! She was completely behind everything. At first I was extremely relax but when they took my wife to the radiology room she had hard time breathing during the ultrasound test and I requested to call the doctor Dr. Kain Reed but she never took it seriously. They were all laughing and making jokes but when it came to answering your questions, they claimed we are busy. Also the room was not clean and accupied with damaged medical machines and so many dirty devices with a dirty plastic covering. you could see blood spots on the eating table. Overal, I would never step in to this hospital again. I dont recommend to take your patient to this hospital specially to their emergency room.

Last week I had my first seizure, two actually, in a decade. The first seizure had me in an ambulance to the ER where the drill is usually to do blood work and an eeg. The nurse there was so rude and so bad at her job - she jabbed me with an IV needle but without the catheter attached so blood just spurred everywhere. Come on lady Im half brain dead and I could do better! I was in there for 2 hours too and she literally did nothing and no doctor came by. Considering I came in in an ambulance unconscious this is pretty bad! Then I had another seizure and woke up a few days later on the 5th floor of the hospital. I found out later that I was quickly put into icu and critical care, and for whatever reason my lower brain stem unconscious garbling was taken as consent against a spinal tap....but I wasnt cognizant! However when I did come to a few days later I found out I had typhoid fever and pneumonia. Thank you dr Robinson for saving my life. I was out of the hospital a few days later with some antibiotics and the pneumonia is pretty much gone now (though my intestines are certainly still fried). So ER: 1/5 stars. Or even 0. But the icu (from everything I heard later) and actual hospital: 5/5 thanks for saving my life

09/11/2014 @ about 6:00PM, a very busy evening at the ER. I was shocked to see the staff in particular two sloppy males, that were so rude. A woman, whos husband was in a wheel chair, she was clearly anxious over her husbands condition, asked how much longer until she could be seen, and the guy in the reddish hair, nurses told her if her husband stopped breathing he would put them in the front of the line. How rude! The two male nurses you had working that night are a disgrace, I had been in your location for 9 days, and overall my experience was good. it would have been nice to have been given some body soap prior to my last day there, especially since during my stay the floor only had two patients. I asked about my fever, they said you have none, I asked to use an ear device since the one he used in mouth was left in my mouth for less than 30 seconds. mind you my primary had just taken my temp at 5PM, 101, and they refused to take it again. and yes in the morning still had fever 101 for 7 days. shame on the staff you had on that night!
