My poor dog got really sick yesterday out of nowhere. I called the vet, and the recommended that she be seen. However, they were absolutely swamped: one of the vets who was supposed to work called in sick, so there was only one vet working that day, and he already had a double caseload. The clinic manager asked me to go to another clinic in the area, but it was Friday and almost rush hour, and I was worried that I wouldnt be able to get there in a good amount of time. I asked if there was anything they could do to fit me in, and the vet and clinic manager agreed to let me drop off my dog for a few hours. I was so thankful! I dropped off my dog and honestly wasnt expecting to talk to the vet because he was so busy, but he called me to update me twice, came up with a great treatment plan, actively involved me in my pets care, and answered all my questions. Simply put, he was wonderful during what I can only imagine was a very stressful day, and my dog is already feeling so much better. I would like to thank the vet (Dr. Peng), the clinic manager (Jennifer), and the whole Banfield staff for taking such good care of my dog. Also, I want to address something. A lot of these reviews are cranky at the staff at Banfield. The thing is, most of us go to Banfield because its less expensive than other vets in the area. Well, when you are getting services that are less expensive, that means sometimes you have to wait longer, sometimes customer service (mainly at the lower levels) isnt always that great, sometimes things are different than a swankier vet. Thats the tradeoff. However, I know firsthand that the vets at this Banfield are knowledgeable, care about animals, and do a good job, and thats ultimately what matters. If you have an issue or are unhappy, talk to the higher-level staff at Banfield. When I have done this in the past, they have always listened to me and addressed my concerns. Finally, you have to take an active role in your pets care. Its your responsibility to bring up issues and ask questions. All vets in the Bay Area see an incredible amount of animals, and Im sure they do their best to cover all the bases, but you know your pet best, so speak up! If you need more time with the vet, tell them!

After this program of theirs is done, Im done. They seem to be "good" when it comes to renewing the dog care program thing but after you agree to pay the monthly dues for supposedly "excellent" care, you dont hear from them again. I prefer to stay with my dog during appointments and refuse to drop her off for 4-5 hours, too many horror stories out there and she gets stressed there. I have concerns because lately she has gone from super sweet dog to every person and dog she meets to aggressive. Growling and almost biting another dog who was very well behaved towards her in a store and while at a dog park she frequents. Its happened 4 times now in the last 3 weeks. Shes spayed and almost 2 years old now and this has never happened before. I called with my concerns and they kept pushing "your comprehensive exam is due" .... fine but I want to see a vet about her aggressiveness now to see whats wrong. So she said okay and I only get the appointment for the comprehensive review which I know is BS because her last one lasted all of 15 minutes and spent more time with the Vet tech than an actual vet. Ive called Alta Vista and was able to get an appointment today thankfully!! I wouldnt recommend Banfield programs at all. Though they make it seem convienant everything mobile and online what they lack on is the actual care.

No stars! You would think that people that answer the phone would know basic information, Noooooooo... I was told that Tues & Thurs are drop in hours to get vaccinations. Nooooooooooo... Drop in doesnt mean drop in. I left work early, used my god damn not enough as it is vacation time to do personal errands so I went there only to be told that I shouldve gotten there at 2pm to be waitlisted. Once the list is full, too bad, get lost. I was there at 3pm. Had I been given the right information, I would have shown up at 2pm After speaking to a manager, Stephanie, who talked to me like I was 5, all she could say was she had faith in her staff. Probably have to say that in front of them. Did I get compensated for wasting my time? Nooooooooooo...All she can say was sorry. She had the worse customer service attitude. I was shopping around for another vet but all I experienced was frustration & rudeness. Would I bring my precious over to Banfield? Hell, nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.........................................

Not good service as I thought. Incorrectly labeled my puppy under a different owner. The vet took my pup out of the room during the exam and did not explain anything to me and she was covered in other animal hair which made my allergies react. Before I left the site I was gasping for air. My puppy is a hypoallergenic breed which Im not allergic too, however this vet did not have the politeness to clean her self before handling my pup and was rude with information. Secondly, the microchip information I paid for my puppy was entered under a different name... Why would they do that? Now, I have to wait two weeks for the transfer of the name and must have an owner who they mistakenly placed as the owner give up their rights. WHAT! Unorganized and bad service with a trip to the hospital is all that I have received from this place. Low quality and lack of respect of people and their animals!

Most of the time, this has been a good pet hospital. Once in a while, the receptionists could be pretty rude and careless with bad attitude. They would let you keep waiting until you missed your assigned appointment while answering the phone. The grooming service in the same facility has been the same situation. Its really great if you know who to ask for. Otherwise, your pet might be returned with some unfinished jobs. You can only get that if you are careful and knowing whats supposed to be included.
