And it’s official: I love going to the dentist now. I switched to Dr. Nushin Shir’s practice because of a few different people saying she was great (she is!). But then I was a bit confused by her practice’s name, Artistic Center for Dentistry in Santa Monica CA. I was like “take out the word ‘dentistry’ and put in ‘dance’ or ‘fine art’ and that makes sense… but Artistic Center for… Dentistry?” Here’s the thing though, kind of a weird-seeming name? Yes. Totally appropriate once you enter the offices? Yep. Dr. Shir’s practice feels like a mix between a high end day spa and an art gallery, with a bunch of state of the art dental equipment hanging out in a few exam rooms. I was immediately impressed with how the place looked and how clean it was, and then it turned out that Dr. Shir’s demeanor and experience matched the expectation created by the place’s looks! She was friendly and bright, and clearly explained to me a few procedures I needed after my exam and cleaning, and also explained the different ways to go about them (I had a pretty bad cavity that I chose to just have filled, even though I may need a crown there in a few years). Even her assistants seemed more poised and professional than some of the other actual dentists I’ve been to in the past! And it seems the Artistic Center for Dentistry lives up to its wacky name in making teeth that need some serious help look great again, based on all the cosmetic services they offer, too. Fortunately, I don’t need any of that stuff. Yet.

I first became a patient of Dr. Nushin Shir in January 2014. I had recently had 3 implants placed by another dentist, in the upper left and was unable to chew properly - the teeth didn’t quite meet. There were many other issues with my teeth: one of the three relatively new crowns in my front teeth - just one year old - came out. Apparently the post was too short and therefore there wasn’t much to hold the crown in (I ended up replace all three crowns and splinting them to make them more stable); work needed to be done on the lower right, lower left. A lot of work. Nine months and many thousands of dollars. Dr. Shir was very careful and conservative in her approach - it was challenging because it seemed every week there was another “emergency”. I am happy to report that I am able to finally chew properly, my teeth look great. Dr. Shir took the time to match colors, to create a mouth that was not only functional but pretty. She really cares about her patients. I consider Dr. Shir an artist and a healer. I would highly recommend Artistic Center for Dentistry in Santa Monica.

Very unpleasant experience overall. I came here really hoping to have a new dentist in CA, as I just moved here. Unfortunately, I will not be coming back. I was told I could get "half" of my teeth cleaned and come back another time to finish the other half by the receptionist. They were clearly overbooked or understaffed. Then, we proceeded to battle about finding a new time when I could come back. I took time off of work to driving an hour up to Santa Monica, thinking I would be getting my teeth cleaned... didnt happen. Every dentist Ive been to in the past has always been able to complete x-rays in 30 minutes and a full cleaning in an hour to an hour and a half. Here, after 2 hours I left with just x-rays- no cleaning, no fillings, and no trust. Its too bad because the doctor is nice, but the rest of the staff just isnt very friendly or accommodating. As a new patient I was expecting top-notch service in hopes of returning, but instead I was left feeling uncomfortable and defeated. I would not recommend this dental office to anyone.

Absolutely happy I switched to Artistic Dentisty with Dr. Nushin Shir. Im a total dental chicken to the point where Id find any excuse to not go to the dentist and when I did it would be after years of not going and needing a great deal of work. Dr. Nushin Shir made me feel safe on the first time I had an appointment with her. A couple little cavities in my mouth and some other little tid bits and she made me feel at ease, like I can call the pace of what needs to be done and totally in control. She and the front dest were extremely helpful in explaining everything, not feeling lost, and we walked through every step to help me feel at ease. Daniel, Laura, Heather, and the gentleman behind the desk were also extremely kind, personable, and felt like I had known these people for a while when we really were strangers at first. Im very happy to know Dr. Nushin Shir is my dentist and to be a part of a practice like theirs.

I have been going to Dr. Shir for about a year now, and I have to say she is one of the best dentists I have ever been to. When I was younger, I was diagnosed with TMJ. I had oral surgery to correct most of the problem and went through years of orthodontia to correct some other things too. Unfortunately, I was in a car accident a little over a year ago, which caused some of my TMJ to begin flaring up again. I read that Dr. Shir was a master at oral therapy from a friend. I have not been disappointed. Actually, I haven’t really had any symptoms in several months. Dr. Shir gives specific exercises for you to do at home, which really helps. I also have gotten my teeth cleaned and whitened at this location. Everyone is always nice and organized and helpful. Also, the facility is very clean but not in a sterile way, which I love. Thanks, everyone at Artistic. For parking: there is two-hour parking on 6th Street.

The Artistic Center for Dentistry in Santa Monica is by far the best dental office experience I have ever had. The office itself is spotless, with a truly calming atmosphere. They have the most state-of-the-art equipment I have ever seen, and the room I was treated in looked like a dental hotel! The staff is well-trained, and intent on making the patient experience a positive one. In addition to all of these wonderful aspects, there is a dental day spa on the premises, where you can receive a massage, skin treatment, or foot reflexology session!! I have never seen anything quite like this, and it all afforded me a shockingly enjoyable visit to the dentist--something I normally fear. Not anymore!

We moved from the Inland Empire and needed to find a new dentist. I googled dental clinics and came across the Review Artistic Center for Dentistry dental clinic. I have three boys so dental work is inevitable...I made appointments with relative ease and we were off to get check ups...We were greeted by the smiling office manager Heather who took us right into our room for check ups...We were met by Dr. Shir who was so engaging and personable, she made my boys feel right at ease. After a cleaning and x-rays, only one of my boys had a cavity. We booked a future date for a filling and left there much at ease. I recommend this professional dental organization and give it 5 stars.

Dr. Nushin Shir is hands down the best dentist I have ever found in Santa Monica! She is clearly smart and sharp--you can that from the moment she walks into the exam room. Dr. Shir asked me lots of questions and listened carefully to my answers and to all my own questions and concerns before she started even looking into my mouth, and I realized it was because she was trying to get a whole sense of my health history, rather than just looking for cavities and plaque and stuff. Overall, I was very impressed with her skill and her approach!
