ONLY GIVING 5 STARS SO PEOPLE CAN SEE THIS!!! Its more like 5 stars on my angry scale because I am LIVID! I had found that my dog had eaten 2-3 caplets of Acetaminophen 500mg each. Its very toxic to pets, especially how much she ate.. This whole thing started at about 6:30pm... When I called all the assistants were very nice and very thorough. I asked them the price of the exam and the treatment that they give when this happens and it was more than my budget so I asked for home remedies. The first time I called the assistant said the vets advice was to give her hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting as quickly as possible. So after giving my dog the recommended dose with no luck I called a second time. However, a different assistant named Gabbi picked up, asked the vet his advice and she said that his advice was to give her some food to fill her stomach and suggested milk and bread because it expands in the stomach and then to give her another dose of hydrogen peroxide and see if that works. So thats what I did. I ended up feeding her 3 slices of bread and giving her 2 more doses of hydrogen peroxide and STILL no luck... So I called a 3rd time and a different assistant picked up and said that the vet told her that the milk and bread actually settles the stomach instead of helping with the vomiting.. So all that time I had been counteracting the hydrogen peroxide and helping the Acetaminophen digest faster..!! We had been given misinformation from one of the assistants telling us to give her something that the vet said would help her and it ended up just making things worse for us... So my dad and I go in after it had already been almost 3 hrs since she injested the pills and demand some answers. After talking to the assistant at the desk for a bit she gets the vet and we explain our story. And the vet tried to tell us that "Nobody in my clinic would say that. You must have misheard that information." And he just kept saying things like that. At this point my dad and I were so upset we were starting raise our voices... And the vet had the nerve to tell me that if I "didnt want to be civil" then I could just drive down to the emergency vet on Bradshaw which is all the way in Elk Grove when I live in Placerville and our case was pretty time sensitive.. So that just made me even more pissed because it just seemed like he was trying to cover his ass and try to get us to leave. But that was not gunna happen until they helped us because theyre the ones who made it worse... So eventually we get a discounted bill which was fine but the vets attitude didnt change much until after the whole procedure and was still a bit rude when I was trying to explain myself more at that time... We finally made it home around 10:45pm, so you can imagine this was a long night for us... Overall our experience SUCKED!! The assistants were lovely and very understanding but the vet was, pardon my French, a douche. I just feel bad for the other customer in there that had to hear all of it...

Unlike what I had been lead to believe by the previous review, I found the doctor himself to be unprofessional, uncaring, and only interested in getting paid. We paid an exorbitant fee to try to treat my cats infection, and when the medicines and surgery and such didnt work, he tried to get another couple of hundred bucks out of us, casually remarking that my cats infection was "the worst he had ever seen" when my cat was brought in, and that he could get us "the strongest antibiotic he had." Well, if it was the worst hed ever seen, shouldnt he have done it in the first place? Or simply suggested we put our cat down to save him and us three weeks of misery? Anyway, we just buried my cat... surprisingly enough, putting him down was cheaper than the other places we called by about half the rate. Im not blaming him for the death of my cat, as he was an old kitty and likely to die within a year or two anyway, but I feel ripped off and that he was only interested in getting every last dollar he could. To be fair, though, his support staff was very nice, friendly, efficient, and knew what they were doing. I give them five stars, for all three of our visits. The vet himself? I would never go again and would caution others from coming. Zero stars out of five, but when you convey the impression that you care more about your pay than my cat by substandard treatment, a lack of a medical opinion, and an attitude of unconcern thinly veiled as professional arrogance, youve lost whatd otherwise be a three.

My dachshund ate rat poison late at night and living right down the street I had seen Dr. Baders office before so being in a panicked I took my Daisy girl there. They put everything on hold to take care of her, not to mention I did not have to wait at all to be seen despite others being there. They didnt hold off on looking at her until the paperwork was done but instead took her right back and began treatment. I appreciated the importance they put on it. Dr. Bader didnt leave her side until he was sure she was OK to go back home. The moment I met him I could tell he had a plethora of experience, and a calming demeanor. I was a mess and he put me right at ease and I appreciate his honesty. Also reasonably priced. I definitely expected to be paying a lot more. As I was walking out the door he assured me that he would be there if there was anything that came up despite the hour. He is definitely my go to. Thank you Dr. Bader, you saved my best friend.

LIFE THREATENING MISDIAGNOSIS BY TWO OFFICE DMVS. ONE DOCTOR, THE CLINIC OWNER SUGGESTED MY K9 WAS HAVING HORMONAL ISSUES AND I SHOULD HAVE HER THYROID TESTED -- WITHIN HRS AFTER CONVERSATION WITH DR BADER I RUSHED MY DOG TO A VETERINARY HOSPITAL WHERE SHE UNDERWENT MAJOR PYOMETRA OPERATION. DR BADERS OFFICE ($300 TOTAL FEES!) EXAMINATION OF MY 17 LB DOG PERFORMED BY DR BURTIS CLAIMED HER UTERUS HAD NO DISTENTION (ENLARGED) AND SIZE WAS NORMAL (4 OZ) AFTER EMERGENCY REMOVAL OF MY DOGS INFECTED, EXTREMELY DISTENDED UTERUS/OVARIES WEIGHTED OVER 1/2 LB. THE INCOMPETENT, NEGLIGENT CARE RECEIVED FROM SHINGLE SPRINGS VETERINARY DOCTORS COULD HAVE KILLED MY DOG! IT WAS MY OWN PHONE CALLS FOR A SECOND OPINION THAT SAVED MY DOGS LIFE. 5 STAR RATING ONLY SO THIS REVIEW GETS POSTED UP FRONT FOR PATRONS TO READ AND BEWARE - WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS OFFICE TO MY WORST ENEMY!! BTW, MY DOGS THYROID TESTED ABSOLUTELY NORMAL. DATE OF INCIDENT >FRI 04/28/2017<

I have had the experience of doing business with Dr. Bader and his staff on several occasions. I have seen Dr. Baders concern and care first hand in treating our animals that have come through the clinic as well as his visits to see our horses. His dedication to the healing arts have taken him to new avenues of treatment in animal care. Dr. Bader has a Laser Surgery part of his clinic that helped with cancer in the cat. Our horses have had the benefit of the lasre TREATMENTS (not Surgery) in which th elaser is used to propote healing and pain relief of our horses. The Staff are well versed in the treatment and care of all the animals that come in the clinic while i was there on my visits. All in all i am very satisfied with the Shingle Springs Vet Clinic and give it a good rating and recommend it to all pet lovers.
