Sylvan Vet is very clean, nice, and well kept. That being said, dont take your pet there unless you want to be price gouged. They are not upfront and do not ask permission or consent before doing things to your pet that cost extra money. A few visits ago I asked that they place a note in my dogs chart saying to consult me before doing anything to my dog. Apparently this last visit they have once again ignored that request. First of all my dog was just having a yearly visit to receive a vaccine. The vet felt like there may be an ear infection in my dog because a dirty substance came back on the q-tip. He said he would like to take a look at my dogs ear with an otoscope outside the room (why cant he do that in the room?) He took my dog and neither of them returned for over 20 minutes. Finally the vet came back in without my dog and said it looks like he has an early ear infection. Instead of asking me, he was already having the vet tech doing bilateral ear rinses on my dog ($40) and he had looked at the substance in a microscope (another $40). Both of which were unnecessary and my dog could have just been treated presumptively with the antibiotics. Dont get me wrong, my dog is my baby and I would do whatever he needs done, but that stuff was unnecessary when he could have just been treated with antibiotics. Or at least just ask me prior to doing all that stuff to my dog. Needless to say this happens every time my dog goes in for a routine visit. This time my dog went in for a vaccine and I walked out with a $200 bill.

Have taken our dog here for years. One visit our dog was DX with colitis even though the vet didnt lay hands on the dog. Then several days later our dog developed kennel cough. We called and described the symptoms and for Rx Was told no and needed to be seen. Funny thing only time he was around any other dog was when he was there in previous visit. Veterinarian wouldnt acknowledge this and prceeded to examine dog. The vet gave some long statement a lot of dogs are coming in for the same thing. Then I noticed her step in the dogs sputum and walk out into the main corridor. I have no doubt where our dog got it from but was charged FULL price for something he picked up there . Last time we give them money Update. Director contacted me about my original review and 1 star. I expressed my concerns about what happened during my visit. He was receptive and apologetic. I am increasing my star review because the director did reach out and follow up.

Why pay a hefty amount for decent vet care only for the staff to be disrespectful and blatantly lie to your face. I am horrified of the behavior of their staff and unfortunately for management this problem will not just go away. The staff there are RUDE and BLATANTLY MISREPRESENTED the facts . They lied to my face and tricked me into signing a contract, which makes the contract voidable. When I called to ask for a manager, they told me to call monday and they said " we cannot give out the managers email " . So basically if you have an issue which is serious enough to go to management , you have to go through the same incompetent staff. Go elsewhere where you will be treated with respect and dignity . Dr obrien at beckwith and the staff and vets at monte vista vet are excellent. I have also heard great things about river oak. Why spend your hard earned money here only to be lied to and disrespected.

Okay this is a review to overide the bad review I had left previously. Although it is true I feel uncomfortable about the $ at Sylvan I have to give Dr. Magnussen a lot of credit for predicting the growth on his neck was a lodged fox tail. I had gone to get a second opinion at Beckwith where we discovered troubling cancerous skin growths on his backside and scheduled a lumpectomy that Dr. M had suggested and I did not want to pay for...(I think it may have even been cheaper at Sylvan not too sure though) and we went ahead and did it at Beckwith and while he was out they explored the neck growth... The vet was shocked about the gross ooze and texture she was concerned and we had it tested and it came back from the fancy pants lab as fox tail. So long story short do yourself a favor and get a gardener. ;) thanks sylvan. Id give 5 stars but I still cant afford that extra star $$

I still take my animals here, but have learned a lot about how to get my animals the best care. Just like a human, take the time to educate yourself on your animals symptoms and conditions. I had an ill dog and let them make appointments with different vets. Didnt get consistent care or the same diagnosis. Immunizations(on a sick dog) and medicine was prescribed to her that I believe led to her premature death at 5 years old. That being said, I now make appointments with only one vet for my animals so I can get consistent treatment. They are nice and caring people, but that doesnt bring my pet back. After her death, I researched the condition and would have taken a much more proactive approach with her care. I would recommend making appointments with Dr. Cardoza if your pet has an autoimmune condition.

We have 3 Australian Shepherds and 3 kitties and have been going to Sylvan Veterinary Hospital for almost 7 years. Sylvan Vet is BY FAR the best place I have ever taken my "fur babies" to for care. Tiffany Cardoza is our Vet and she ALWAYS goes above and beyond to care for our babies. The staff is amazing as well. They always have smiles on their faces and are ready and eager to answer any questions we might have. It is SUCH a comfort knowing that my "kids" are in great hands. The prices are extremely competitive and I have never had an incident where something was pushed on us that wasnt necessary for the well being of my babies. I highly recommend Sylvan Vet Hospital with absolutely NO reservations..

I only have one experience with this place, and it was horrible. I will save the gorey details and warn you that Kip is not a vet I would ever want to take a seriously ill animal to. The place is so busy, I dont think an animal in serious condition can be properly taken care of, but there is no way they would admit that. (I will say the lady vets seemed decent, though.) To everyone: stop judging your vet by how nice the underling staff are and how glittery the office is - focus on the important things like the staff to patient ratio, how honest the vet is with you, and whether you see the glimmer of dollars behind the staffs fake smiles.

SVH is the ONLY veterinary practice in Modesto we will use. We have always received the best care from Dr. Tiffany Cardoza and everyone on staff there. Our Yorkie has been a patient there for several years and we have never had one sub par experience in that time. We have recommended SVH and Dr. Cardoza every time we are asked and will continue to do so in the future. The facility is always clean, the staff are professional, courteous, and kind to both humans and animals alike. We dont trust the health and safety of our lil Keegan easily, but Dr. Cardoza and SVH havew a proven track record with our family and have earned our trust.
