If you are in or close to the Castle Rock, CO area this place is a godsend for cat owners. We have two 12 year old domestic long haired. One, Xander is a love to us and a screamer to strangers trying to give him shot. Its our fault we adore both our boys and taken extra care to feed whole nutritious foods and theyve had no cause for a vet. Until Xander got a bacterial infection and after that last shot done at our house, our vet suggested we try the cat specialists (hint # 1-- referred by another veterinarian). So we reluctantly put him in his carrier and drove to their facility for our appointment. Xander was miserable, howling, confused, angry. The very nice office person greeted us and took us to a private room (thank goodness). Another person gave us a thorough interview and then Dr. Lavallee entered. What a spark of sunshine. Open, positive, smart and very compassionate to Xanders misery. She told us how theyll relax him first and to the exam and then gave us a prescription to calm him down for the next visit. What ever happened there, totally cured us of the fear of going to the vet. I m not joking in the least. Were ready to take Xander in for some dental work and Im so much less anxious. Dr. Lavallee called and left a detailed report on their Blood and Urine results. I feel blessed that theyre both in good health. Give the Cat Specialists a try if you want to have personalized treatment for you and your feline.

I have 100 percent confidence in The Cat Specialist. I have dealt with Dr. Olson is extremely knowledgeable and very compassionate. I trust his knowledge on medical and health care, and I trust his recommendations on the proper course of treatment for the cats best interest. It is rare to find a professional of any kind in whom you can truly rely on their knowledge *and* judgment in serious situations. Dr. Olson is such a vet. Because my now-retired vet would send me to Dr. Olson for certain things, I initially thought of The Cat Specialist as a specialist to whom vets referred certain serious cases. That was wrong and I now use The Cat Specialist for all my cats needs, even though it is a long distance from me. There are few things better than having a vet in whom you have confidence. In my years of going there, I have never had a single bad experience - everyone is exceptionally nice, as well as competent.

We came across the Cat Specialist in a bit of an emergency. Our little "Mittens" who is normally HIGHLY active, was very lethargic and obviously not herself. Of course, this happened one day before we were leaving on vacation. We couldnt leave her at home without some idea of what was going on and needed immediate medical advice and insight. We found the Cat Specialist, they were able to get her in immediately and they diagnosed the problem with some relatively simple dietary course of action. Of course, we still felt bad about leaving her home and decided to take her on Spring Break with us and just hide her in our beach rental :). These folks definitely know their feline clients! Very knowledgeable, very friendly, very helpful in providing guidance on how to best care for our sick kitty. They were great and she recovered fully by the time we got back to Colorado. Highly recommend.

A couple nights ago we had to take my cat to the emergency clinic in town late at night. A few hours later that clinic told me the closest vet that could help him was all the way in Denver...never mentioning the cat specialist. Knowing the Cat Specialist existed we just called them and are VERY VERY happy we did. I cant express my gratitude to everyone we spoke with. Dr. Jen is an incredible person! I have never met such a compassionate, light hearted, and nice (yet, knowledgeable, thorough, and dedicated to finding the problem) Vet in my life of having animals. She made an extremely scary situation a little easier to deal with. When the humans are scared the pets can feel it...and this Vet is completely amazing at putting people at ease just as much as they are at caring for animals. If you have kitties please take them here....the level of care is extremely comforting! Thank You!

Love this place! They are so cat friendly and wonderful with the owners as well. We moved over an hour away and still took our cat there until he died (at a ripe old age, thanks to The Cat Specialist). The doctor and staff all love cats and know them very well...not just their bodies, but how they think and feel. They took the time to help my cat feel comfortable...something he very much appreciated. Dr. Olson is thorough and is very good at giving explanations about what was going on with my cat. He know the latest treatments and finds things other vets miss. The tech, Kirsten, is one of my cats all-time favorite people and she is great to talk to. Marla and everyone (I am not sure of the newer peoples names) are great. If we get another cat, this will be our main vet...even if we have to drive a long way a couple times a year.

The only serious issue with the Cat Specialists is that they are not closer to me! Outstanding customer service and communications. Outstanding care for our cat during her 4 day radio iodine 131 treatment for hyperactive thyroid. The staff is completely on top of everything as far as communications, logistics, coordination with my usual vet etc. The Dr took a huge amount of "non-rushed" time to explain all procedural details and simply took a personal interest in our cat, Amelias health and welfare. They loved her down there. The I-131 procedure, while not cheap, was well within the lower end of the "going rate". We went with Cat Specialists...well...because they are cat specialists and they did not have any hint of a "profits first" mentality Our experience could not have been better.

My kitty has arthritis and is in a lot of pain and also has a heart condition. We wanted to find a vet who can help us make her comfortable and help her as much as possible. Cat Specialist was recommended by our old vet (we moved) and we had a great first visit! The physician was very knowledgeable and the staff was friendly and helpful. My cat enjoyed the calm and dog free environment of the practice and was clearly more comfortable in the exam room and with the treatment. We were provided with recommendations by the physician that worked almost immediately, and my cat is already doing so much better and is quickly returning back to being her spunky little self. I can highly recommend this vet and office. We will most certainly return and continue to be a patient.

Dr. Olson and his caring team have helped us extend the quality and length of our senior cats life. At age 20 1/2 (yes, I said 20!), Ollie has special medical needs. Having a veterinarian who is board-certified in feline medicine has made all the difference. He provides expert advice and has a compassionate bedside manner. Dr. Olson also networks with other cat specialists nationwide so hes got the latest information on treatments and surgery. Besides receiving veterinary care at The Cat Specialist, Ollie also has boarded. We get daily e-mails from our "son" with details about how much fun hes having. The veterinary nurses spoil him so much that sometimes I think Ollie wants to stay rather than come home!
