Pretty ridiculous I cant even head back with my OWN wife to the evaluation room? Thats the FIRST time Ive ever heard of this. Meanwhile, everyone else in lobby is allowed to go in with their loved ones and accompany their heterosexual spouses to the back. Hmmmm....It must be because were a lesbian couple. Thanks for deciding also to give her and several other patients no room with no HIPPA protection whatsoever. You completely violated her rights and others. Her treatment and private info completely out in the open for everyone to hear: social security, physical history, address, name and birthdate. This is disgusting that Swedish Medical would be discriminatory to this level against LGBT couples. Behavior like this in 2017 is abhorrent and should be investigated! This happened in the ER of Swedish on Monday August 28, 2017 at 6:01 with the nurses that were providing check in. Jen and Adelita. My wife finally came to get me and take me to back, as everyone else had family where I was told I could not be. She wanted to refuse treatment here after a male nurse named Matt K. in burgundy scrubs and beard jammed incorrectly the IV into her arm. You did that TWICE. You blew out her vein. Also, Matt was a complete jerk when registration came in and my wife asked for them to come back and jammed the needle in while she was talking. Matt also used the same dirty tourniquet to draw her blood that he used for everyone elses draws. He had it slung over his shoulder that had dandruff also. Staphylococcus much? My wife at this point is in fear for her life and wanted to leave. I asked for an AMA for her and for IV to be removed as it was placed sideways and too far up, the professionalism of every health care provider we came in contact with was inappropriate. Vicki an RN said she didnt need to sign anything because paper would take too long and that we could just leave. Vicki then came in with a smug face and RIPPED off maliciously the tape holding her IV and yanked out the catheter with such force that in the exit while leaving, her arm started to bleed profusely. Vicki did not bandage her arm correctly to prevent this from happening intentionally. There was so much blood it covered her entire arm up to her shoulder and my hands and clothes. She almost fainted and NO ONE came as they were watching this unfold. Not Adelita, not Jen, as I mad eye contact with them. Not even the Officer in front tried to help until I screamed for it. He went right to touch her open wound without gloves and it hurt immensely for her. I had to tell him to back off not only for her safety but his also! Connor at the front of ER desk was the ONLY one to come running. Tonight was surreal. I cant believe in Denver there are humans working in a hospital that are incapable of helping or saving anyone. All of you working tonight in the ER should be ashamed of your actions that could have killed or further injured my wife. NONE OF YOU have ANY business being in this environment or having this amount of patient responsibility. Peoples lives are in your hands and you treat it with little to no respect. Shame on the ER team of Swedish Hospital! Please dont tell me to call and contact your patient advocacy department.

Where to begin. Worst hospital I probably have ever been to. Nurses and DOC, how do you even get by with this? After 3 previous back surgeries, a rod in my back from Sacral to T-6, broke another rod in my back and knew it. When I got there, zero spinal cord precautions were taken. They staff so incredibly rude, no Ivy, no blood work, they were mostly concerned about giving pain medication which I declined. Your staff is so incredibly unknowable about chronic pain and patients that" HAVE NEVER ABUSED THERE MEDS". I WAS told that there was nothing wrong with my back, they told me I could have A CT, but I had already received such poor care that I would have rather stayed that way then deal with these people. I went almost a month without getting my back repaired. I ended up finding out , via my records that there was a problem that was not disclosed to me. I had requested my records, to include my entire history there. They violated my HIPPA PRIVACY RIGHTS BY giving my records to someone that was" NOT" AUTHORIZED to receive them. THEY DIDNT EVEN GET MY SIGNATURE TO RELEASE THE RECORDS. AFTER RECEIVING THE RECORDS, I WAS SHOCKED AT THE INFORMATION THAT WAS IN MY RECORDS. INACCURATE INFORMATION THAT I NEVER TOLD THEM, LIE AFTER LIE AFTER LIE. DOCTORS AND NURSES THAT HAD AMENDED MY INFORMATION THAT I NEVER SAW, NEVER HEARD OF AND NEVER SPOKE TO. SO MANY AMENDED DOCUMENTS THAT I COULDNT BELIEVE THIS COULD HAPPEN IN AMERICA. I CONTACTED THE ADMIN OFFICE AND TOLD THEM OF THE VIOLATION AND THEY ENDED UP HAVING TO SEND ME A LETTER OF LIABILITY STATING THAT MY HIPPA PRIVACY RIGHTS HAD BEEN VIOLATED. THEY ALSO SENT ME AN AMENDED INFORMATION FORM TO TRY TO GET ME TO JUST CHANGE ALL THE INFORMATION. I WOULD HAVE NEEDED TO WRITE A NOVEL TO GET ALL OF INACCURATE INFORMATION CHANGED. I HAD TO WAIT TILL 2 weeks after my surgery to go back in and try to speak to the Compliance Officer and was told that the employee was just" punished" for violating my rights. Not OK. I am currently seeking counsel to get this handled one and for all. If not for myself but for others that no one will ever have to go through this. Please, I urge you to please retain a complete copy of your medical records and go over them with a fine tooth comb. You will not then likely be as shocked as I was. I also had requested" COMPLETE RECORDS FROM ALL VISITS" , THEY EXCLUDED A COMPLETE HISTORY OF MY MAJOR BACK SURGERY. NOT ONE RECORD OF IT INCLUDED IN MY HISTORY. NON DISCLOSURE OF INFORMATION AFTER A COMPLETE RECORDS REQUEST WAS MADE. THE BOTTOM LINE HERE IS THAT IF YOU DO THIS TO PATIENTS, YOUR GOING TO HAVE TO PAY THE CONSEQUENCES AT SOME POINT, THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE! THEN TO DO EVERYTHING YOUR POWER TO GET IT TO GO AWAY RATHER THEN JUST ACCEPTING RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT IS EVEN WORSE. IF WE CONTINUE TO LET HEALTH CARE WORKERS GET AWAY WITH THIS, MORE PEOPLE WILL HAVE THE SAME EXPERIENCES OVER AND OVER. NOT IF I CAN HELP IT. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION YOU THIS AND SHARE, NOTHING CHANGES UNLESS OTHERS SPEAK UP. THIS COULD BE YOU, NEVER SAY NEVER. KRISTEN D SALAS.

Careful of THIS emergency room, they were going to let my mom go home with a 94 over 46 blood pressure, in a hypertensive, high blood pressure elderly woman, whose pressure is usually 140-160 over 80/90, with a severe head injury, which any laymen would know and say , "Looks like shes lost alottt of blood" ( which she lost about a pint, you should have seen the hallway racked with blood all over the place and I told them this) ) They told me when I questioned the extremely low blood pressure she never had in her life, before a severe head injury, they responded by saying that it was : "Healthy to have a 94 over 46 blood pressure", which according to blood pressure charts "Would make a child pass out". They insisted on releasing her, after they sewed her head up with 9 staples, 9! As soon as she got up, she completely passed out, was admitted and needed a transfusion. not to mention her hematacrit ( red blood cells) was at a level of 23 , when 30 and up is normal. She had to be admitted to the hospital. If she had gone home like they said she should , quoting the nurse there" If it isnt a physical caused injury, we dont keep them overnight anymore, if it was a mechanical injury" , If she had gone home, she could have passed out god knows where and I dont even want to think about the consequences of that decision, and to let her go home and not keep over night for 24 hr observation. Are they kidding? she fell while approaching a step to go up to go to the bathroom, and lost her balance as she has a balance problem ans split her head open on the wall. Shes had to go into rehab now, after the hospital, where they failed to keep her full range of motion for fear of her falling ( liability fears but wait, they are trained to deal with fall risks right? youd think so, and they restricted what she used to do at home to keep mobile because shes had so many surgeries on her legs from a failed abdominal anuerism surgery ( at a dif hospital) and then now? shes in another rehab center to make up for the loss of range in motion, the first rehab center screwed her out of... I complained about the hospital ER but get these cover up responses of how they checked her blood pressure and it was "Fine" for her to go home.. So you tell me, this my moms fault???Should she have to be going through all this instead of being home right now for her birthday and where shes happy? where she could have gotten around like before with more help??? No she s sitting in a skilled nursing home now, miserable she cant be home for her birthday. Dont think because you see Drs or ER rooms that you can completely put your faith in them, Be vigilant around your loved ones.
