We absolutely love Dr. Nelson. We were having issues with another animal clinic...we have a rescue lab mix who survived parvo, and recently he started losing hair around his eyes and scratching until his eyes were raw. After $600 at another animal hospital with no results, and having to wait a month or more (if they even called back) with results, we were nowhere closer to getting poor Beezle any relief. A neighbor suggested Dr. Nelson, saying he had a more "traditional" approach to veterinary medicine. We were really impressed. We got in quickly, he performed a test for mites, went back to his lab, and came back with results. It was the same exact test that had taken the other clinic over a month. He suggested a biopsy which would give us a definitive answer...we were a little nervous about the cost, but within one test, we got an answer, had a plan and spent far less than we spent at the other clinic. Beezle is now on a maintenance medication for the itching, and the price for the medication is fair. It may seem like Ive mentioned cost and price a bit in this review...our pets are like family, and getting the best quality care is important. But I feel like there is a new breed of vet that is more interested in making money than finding solutions. Anyway, Dr. Nelson seems to truly love animals, charges a fair price for his services, and is knowledgeable. And his "bedside manner" for our dogs is wonderful. Which brings me to our other dog...Disco. Shes a mess...kinda high-strung, very intelligent, lots of energy. She is in LOVE with Dr. Nelson...she throws her head back and looks up at him with the most adoring eyes. Weve tried in the past to cut her nails, and she bites and is a real pain. At the other clinic, they put a muzzle on her, three vet techs held her down, and the fourth cut her nails. She was really traumatized. Dr. Nelson got her up on the table, nuzzled cheek to cheek with her, gave her some squeeze cheese out of the can, and gently lifted her foot, and she let him cut her nails. For that reason we now call him the "Disco Whisperer." He really has a way with animals, and weve found a lifetime vet. I recommend him highly.

Dr. Douglas took great care of my 7 yr old Kelpie after he was diagnosed with cancer. She and everyone else at Nelson genuinely cared for Buck and made it a priority to make him feel comfortable during each visit. When Buck passed away the staff were incredibly compassionate and caring during that time. Fast forward to the present, I have a 4 month old German Shepherd and she had an infection on Friday night. Pet owners know their animals tend to get sick right before the weekend when most vets close. I called early Saturday morning before the office opened and they returned my call in a few minutes and asked if I could come in before they opened. The staff, and Dr. Douglas really went out of their way to accommodate my puppy when really there were no appointments available. I highly recommend them for both their veterinary expertise and their compassion and care for all animals.

Weve been taking our dogs to Nelson Animal Clinic for going on 30 years and just by saying that I think indicates that weve been happy with the doctors and the price. And you cant beat the service - for instance I just called them about 15 minutes ago to ask about a recurring problem with my old girl (over 16 years) and within 10 minutes Dr. Hitchcock called me back to discuss the problem and suggested that we try another round of the antibiotic that he previously prescribed (that had worked before). Our regular vet is Dr. Douglas and weve always liked her level of competence and compassion. Dr. Nelson is also one of the best although he is semi-retired and doesnt spend as much time in the office now. All in all were really happy taking our dogs there and wouldnt consider any other vet practice.

This is the best place I have taken my dog. Prices are reasonable. The care is great. They care about the pets and encourage repeat business by providing the right level of care. They dont try to get extra money out the owner nor do they perform unnecessary procedures or medications. I will never use another vet. Even if I move, I want to continue to take my dog here. Also, I found them initially through word of mouth. 2 coworkers who have taken many generations of pets to them said they would never use another vet.

Love Nelson. Easy to work, top notch expertise, no upselling like I have experienced at other Vets. Performed luxating patella surgery for my 90 lb dog and he was walking the day of surgery! Dont understand how someone could say they are overpriced, I have found it to be the opposite compared to my other experiences. And as I mentioned since other places up sell you or scare you into extra services or product, I always shelled out more elsewhere for my furry best friend.

We have used Nelson Animal Hospital for over 17 years. They are well versed, honest, and genuine with their care. I also like the fact that they wont add on a bunch of extra tests if not needed. Some larger vet hospitals do this no matter what. We have referred well over 10 people to them and they have the same feedback.

Dr. Douglas is by far the best vet Ive worked with! Unfortunately I had to put my beloved dog down earlier this year but she was very supportive and caring throughout the whole process. The techs are also very nice too. I have not had experience with the other vets at the clinic, but have heard nothing but good things.

I cannot express how pleased we are with this vet group. They are very kind, caring and skilled. They honestly care about your animal. When our 16 year old dog passed away over a year ago, they showed nothing but compassion. We take our new puppies there and recommend it to all of our friends and neighbors.

I have taken my dogs here several times and absolutely love the veterinarians. But there is a huge problem with reaching them and scheduling appointments. The receptionists are very rude. I honestly will never take my dogs here until they get better staff. Very unhappy with their terrible rude service.

We have been to other vets and specialist for our dog who is very high maintenance. (Really, there is no such thing as a FREE dog, lol!) Nelson repaired both her knees beautifully and for less than other estimates we received. They are always available for her numerous ear infections, too. Great place!

I was quoted by another Vet 1,200 for my dogs teeth cleaning and 2 extractions. Fortunately, I scheduled a teeth cleaning with Nelson Animal Hospital and the bill was SIGNIFICANTLY less and they did 6 extractions on my old Boston Terrier. Better yet...he seems much happier now.

I absolutely love this group of people. They provide excellent care, information, and customer service. I take both puppy and kitty there for everything. I switched from Parker Animal Hospital and have never looked back. Absolutely fantastic!

Doctor seemed good, but I sat and waited for 35 minutes after the appointment for the front desk staff to give me my bill. Not impressed on that front, plus theyre pretty expensive compared to some of the other vets in town.
