Long story short...Sick dog to VRCC...Found a softball sized cyst on the prostate and drained it and was told $5k for open belly surgery and a neuter on my 10year old dog after they thought it was an enlarged bladder...following day dog was running a fever, breathing labored and drooling so I took him to Cherry Hill and they said they could give him a pain management shot and an antibiotic to see if he would make it thru the night as a 2nd option with him going to a vet for surgery in the morning...1st recommendation was across town to Parker to an emergency vet for a $3-$4k surgery or that I needed to consider putting him down in the next few days...I took him to Cherrelyn Animal Hospital the next day after electing the shots...I think the shots definitely helped get a jump on things since he wasnt responding well to VRCC meds...Cherrelyn said it was most likely a GI upset that knocked him down, euthanasia and cuttin my 10year old dog into pieces was extreme and that I needed a vet that would fight for my dog...Recommendation was a neuter to help stop prostate and cyst issues...Chest xrays cleared the dog for any masses, neuter was done, prostate was down and cutting the dog open to take a look at the cyst was considered not necessary at this time...Post Neuter my dog is the brightest hes been all week...The baytril/pain shot from CHAH def helped but the euthanasia option that was presented 2 times is enough that I will never ever recommend a vet that wont fight for my dog...I wish I would have went to them first I could have saved $1000 and I wish I would have neutered Onyx 10 years ago...One of the most nerve wrecking weeks of my life was calmed by the vet 2 blocks away...Way Cheaper than other places for the same procedures...Thanks Courtney, Lisa, Dr Gundy and Jerry

Unfortunate events have brought me and my dog in for two emergency visits over the past couple years. This clinic has taken such great care of us on each occasion. The most recent visit for Yukon (my 9-10 year old husky/malamute mix) and I was this winter. He slipped and fell and was very close to losing his foot due to a severe laceration that was very large and deep. The vets were worried because they knew this was going to be a delicate surgery and there was a possibility of not being successful with closing the wound. Guess what? Everything was successful, and it was indeed a very tedious process for the vets! They had to stitch together tendons and stretch his skin to cover an almost 2 inch wide laceration. They immediately had him start antibiotics to prevent any infection, he wore a splint for a couple weeks, and he recovered so well. No infection, no obvious lingering discomfort or pain after the fact, and he got to keep his foot. More recently, due to the ridiculous dog breed restrictions Ive encountered while looking for a new place to rent, I asked Cherrelyn for a recommendation letter for my dog and I that could be submitted with my housing applications. They were MORE than accommodating with my request and were happy to give me a letter with their official letterhead and the clinics owners signature. Cherrelyn had my letter ready for me within a few days. Overall, I am so happy I found this place. Theyve stitched up my dog on a couple emergency occasions and I feel they took all necessary actions to make sure he had a smooth recovery. Theyve even helped us in our search for a new home. I am so grateful for this clinic and everything they have done for my little family. I would absolutely recommend them.

We took our dog to this vet for an emergency visit and were incredibly thankful that the vets here got to him so quickly. However, during this emergency visit the staff was not communicative about what they were doing and why as they treated our dog. They used hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting and continued to try this method over and over again despite that it was not working for our dog. Our pup needed up with an insane amount of hydrogen peroxide (we later learned this can cause ulcers- which he developed) in his belly that after 1 1/2 hrs finally had him vomiting. The staff was very vague on what we needed to be looking for over the next few days in regards to his health and when it would be neccasary to bring him back in. They did not give us any information on emergency vets to take him to over the weekend while they would be closed (we were told this was the critical time to watch our dog). After the visit was all said and done they slapped down a $300 bill with fees and exams that we had no idea they were doing. When I asked if they offered payment options they said no I had today in full right then and there. Turns out they do offer care credit and decided to withhold this information from me. From my experience it feels more like this vet used an emergency situation to charge a lot of money on the spot - despite alternatives we later learned about. I will not take my dog back here.

My 14-year-old childhood pet, a Yorkshire Terrier, received wonderful medical treatment at Cherrelyn throughout the course of his life. It was in the last years of his life, however, that I really came to have a deep appreciation of this animal hospital. He developed a benign mass on his spleen around last Thanksgiving. They did not compel me to do surgery because of his age, but they supported me with my decision after I had chosen to do it. The splenectomy was successful. However, lymphoma attacked his liver at an aggressive rate just 2 months later. That, unfortunately, would spell the end of my sweet little dog. Jeff was such a huge help throughout the horrible but unavoidable process. He is very kind and empathetic and will care for your animal because you care for it. He will not thrust procedures or treatments upon you for your pet. Indeed, I was the one begging for the treatments because I didnt want to let my dog go, but he always gently but firmly gave me the truth about the circumstances and what he thought the best course of action was. He and the rest of the staff are very trustworthy. I work in Golden, but I always took my dog to Cherrelyn despite any inconvenience of time and distance because of what a great animal hospital it is. Your beloved pets are in good hands if you take them here, and I would recommend that you do so.

I really appreciate the staff at Cherrelyn Animal Hospital. Every time I walk in I just get a good feeling that I will be taken care of. The prices are very competitive and they charge for what is needed and I trust that with them. If my bill is higher than Id expected its because thats the medicine my pet needed and I respect and trust their judgement; if the cost was under what I was quoted I dont have to worry about them missing something it just means they were able to work the case in a more financially effective manner. I feel confident that they practice excellent medicine and have great rates; the staff, above all, are the crowning reason I come back. Id pay a fortune to work with caring professionals like these and yet I dont have to. I have read many reviews from multiple sites and it is consistent across the board, people love it here. The rare negative reviews I have read are easy to tell they wanted something for nothing and seem to have a very one sided, misleading, and unfair opinion. Everyone I know and talk to just love these people and love coming to this practice. Customer for life; I highly recommend.
