No longer offers the same quality of service as they did when it was a private veterinary hospital. I have a diabetic dog that nearly died if I had not found a new vet. Too busy to discuss after a glucose test I was told will they will call later - over a month later and I still have never received a follow-up call. Before that another doctor gave analysis after a glucose curve that did not make any sense and I was told to increase insulin by 3 units and return for another glucose test in a week. 1 unit can make a world of difference and low sugar can put a dog in a coma or seizer. Never increase insulin that much at one time. The next week my dog showed a very low glucose reading in the low 100s, the doctor told me it was good news and to keep it up and return in a month. The next reading was very high reading was very high, the one where I am still waiting for a followup call. After a week I selected a new and private Veterinary clinic. Under the care of a new doctor I now have my dog stable, My dog was at 81 glucose units when the new doctor first saw her, way too low for a dog. Apparently she was spiking high to low and could have died. I am back to a privatly owned vet and getting excellent service. If you continue to go here under the new name Firehouse or any other veterinary clinic under this name expect poor service. Firehouse has bought out at least 4 private vet offices and is now owned not by a doctor of veterinary medicine with compassion but by a bunch of business men looking for profit. I have gone to Arapahoe veterinary hospital for 10 years and I have not had any issues until I started to see Firehouse on the caller ID. I have only touched the surface of poor service I have seen.

My pet is a patient at the VCA Firehouse Animal Hospital up north, and I have developed a repertoire with the staff there that is beneficial to my cat, I prefer to use Firehouse. However, the Littleton Animal Hospital is closer to my residence and therefore easier for me to pick up my pets prescription food. Unfortunately, they would not allow my to transfer my cats prescription without first seeing my cat as part of a "Free Exam". I have zero interest in going to this VCA without it being an emergency, and I do not want my cat examined by the staff here unnecessarily. My cat has been on his prescription food for four years due to kidney issues and has had an examine within the past six months - after moving residences, the last thing I am going to put him through is a needless trip to the vet to be told what the vet I trust has been telling me. They simply could have said they would call VCA Firehouse, as other VCAs have done for me in the past. The "bring your pet in for assessment" is their bait and switch towards more treatment. Lost my trust immediately.

We have been using VCA Littleton for our cats for the past 2 years. We got our 1st vet check free when we adopted our little one-eyed himalayan from the South Platte Humane Society. He had been cared for my VCA when he was in the shelter so it was nice to support them for their work with the shelter - they also support Freedom Service Dogs who is nearby. In addition to having charitable hearts the staff is great. From the person scheduling the appointments to the techs and vets who provide care. Recently we took our other cat - a 12 year old tabby - in for his check up and rabies shot. He has claws and is quite ornery with anyone handling him. The vet had already read this in his chart and had GREAT strategies to make him comfortable enough to get the exam done so he could go home (she was also very kind with us as we had the talk about his weighting going up and needing to re-visit a diet plan -- she had new ideas as past ideas had stalled). Thanks VCA!

This used to be a great family practice back when it was Arapahoe. After being taken over by Firehouse things changed but werent too bad. At first. One by one the staff that my pet and I had come to know and trust were sent packing. New, seemingly less experienced, vets came on board and then it hit the fan. The employee turnover is horrific and I no longer feel comfortable taking my pet to a place where we dont have a chance to get to know anyone. The facility seems nice but comes with a price, literally. The cost of even basic services sky-rocketed when Firehouse took over. Now I hear another giant national corporation has taken over- VCA. None of the wonderful vets are there any more and as far as my pets and I are concerned, this vet is not worth half the cost we would pay.

I wouldnt want to take my pets anywhere else. This place has been where my family took pets growing up, and was my first choice after I moved out on my own. They were very caring and helpful as my cat grew old, and I believe they truly helped extend her life. She made it to 17.5 years, and when the time came to put her down, they were very sensitive and comforting through the whole ordeal. They even sent me a personalized card signed by all who work there. I still take my two dogs, and now my new cat there. Theyre just the best Ive found in the whole Denver area.

My dog got into some windshield washer fluid and AVH was the closest to me, my regular vet had me take her to the closest hospital to get a baseline blood draw, they whisked her in without any worry about payment or anything, got the blood draw and even game me directions to the major emergency clinic that could care for her, and hurried me on my way. They put my pets health first and that is what is important. My regular vet moved out of the area and I am switching to AVH right away.

Staff are really quite nice. Doctors are knowledgeable. Every time we drive up, the dog always seems to know where we are. She gets out of the car and wants to go inside. So that tells me they do a pretty good job. Merging and acquiring is the wave of the future, unfortunately. It is an economic necessity. VCA still does a pretty decent job of trying to act like a smaller independent practice. Which is a lot better than some of its competitors!!!!

Today my ferret got really sick. After calling my usual vet, I was told that they no longer are seeing ferrets and to call someone else. I called VCA and they were immediately helpful. They got me in quickly and the vet was great! There was nothing we could do for her and the vet was very supportive and caring. They helped make a very hard decision a little easier to deal with. I will bring all my pets here in the future.

We had an elderly cat that needed to be put down and had never stepped foot into this hospital - Arapahoe brought us into a room immediately and allowed us to spend time with her. We normally go to a very expensive "high-end" vet to receive the best care possible, but the care we received from Arapahoe was so much more genuine. They truly cared about our animal and that made such a difference to us!
