A few months back My dogs snapped at each other over a bone. My female dog got scratched right under her eye and it looked pretty deep, After an hour 2 her eye was swelling pretty bad and I was worried her eye might have been damaged. It was late and my regular vet was closed. I decided to go to Community Pet Hospital based off the reviews. While I cant speak for the day shift, the experience I had with the night shift was almost unbelievable. When I walked in the employees seemed irritated I was there. They quickly took me and Marley ( dog ) back for a quick check. They looked at her a total of oh 2 minutes maximum and said, " Yep her eye is damaged. " I asked if the Doctor could confirm because she hadnt even been in yet. The vet walked in and did the exact same thing. She spoke a hundred miles an hour and didnt even ask me any history on my dog, how it happened, any health issues. NOTHING. She did not care in the slightest. I asked her if she could look at Marleys leg as well because she had a limp every now and then and i figured Id kill 2 trips in one. She had only been in there a couple minutes and said she would check on it after she set up a treatment plan. She left the room for a good 10-15 minutes while we could hear laughing and music coming from the back. The Vet tech who checked us in walks out with a sheet of paper asking me to sign it. I asked her what it was and she said it was Marleys treatment plan. I looked it over and it was 400 DOLLARS!!!! They had spent a total of 5 minutes with my dog and determined her eye was damaged and needed 400 dollars in medication and treatment. I asked them how they knew it was necessary and she said that part of that 400 dollars would include dilating the eye to check for cornea damage....That was the whole reason I brought her in was to check for eye damage! I asked politely if for now I could just dilate the eye to confirm damage as a 400 dollar bill is tough to swallow. The Vet tech then became very rude and confrontational. She said I had to agree to the treatment plan as well because it would make no sense to do the test unless I was willing to treat for it. Now just a side note I manage automotive shops, I am a salesman, I know when some one is trying to hit me with a sales pitch. I have never in all my time told some one that they had to agree to pay a large sum of money without even knowing if there is even a real problem. After having to raise my voice at her and tell her that I want the test before I agree to anything she said she had to go back and talk to the doctor. 10 more minutes goes by and now she comes out with a treatment plan with generic drugs for a low low price of 330 dollars and a CREDIT CARD APPLICATION. This is the exact process used in automotive shops! I never thought Id have a doctor ignoring my dog while trying to sell me a credit card! I became very Irate and the doctor came in and finally agreed to check her eye before locking me into a " treatment plan ". After another long period of time the doctor came back in and said there was no damage to her cornea but she still needed the treatment. I declined their plan and asked for my bill. The Vet then started badgering me and told me that I would be responsible for the loss of my dogs eye and that she was going to lose her vision best case scenario. I had to sign a release of liability and was treated like I was killing my dog by not agreeing to their plan. Oh yeah, and she didnt even look at Marleys leg like I had asked. I then paid the ridiculous price of 125$ for their " service " which left me disgusted with the fact I had taken my little girl there. I spent an hour and a half there and almost all of it was spent waiting or arguing. Ready for the best part? I took my girl home and iced her eye and took her to work with me for the next few days. With some extra TLC and making sure to keep her eye clean Marley healed up just fine. That was by far the worst experience I have ever had from any medical professional. Waste of 125$ dollars and a terrible experience.

They were available to take my dog right away so that was nice. Waiting for 45 minutes was not fun but I understand there were other emergency before me, someone did come out to make sure my dog was stabile while waiting so that was nice. The receptionist was nice but not chatty. Spent $540 for exam, xray, IV, fluid and meds. I suppose its normal in comparison to other places. Was sent home with meds and no diagnosis as to what caused the trembling in my dog. Was told white cell count was high based on blood work so was given antibiotic. Was told its sign of infection but not sure where. One of the meds had to be ordered online and was told Id get an email next day to order. I received an email to download their app and nothing was on my profile. Called next day, Jeanine answered the phone. She was not pleasant on the phone because when I explained about the online ordering the response I got from her was you should have it and just go online. Told her I have nothing and she said well you should just order it (in an annoyed tone). Losing my patience, i asked her how many doses I should purchase this prescribed meds and how often should i give to my dogs since apparently i was just supposed to purchase this prescribed meds online and figure it out. She then put me on hold and a vet tech called me and helped me out. I called her twice as to follow her advice to go online again. I mean, not happy we dont have a diagnosis but Im taking him to another vet tomorrow. Also, Jeanine needs to quit her job if she doesnt like her job. Cause I dont work there, never been to a vet where I had to download some app and order meds online. So a little education would be nice rather than giving me attitude like Im so dumb and suppose to know their procedure. I willl never go back to this place.

It is impossible to write this review without feeling every emotion humans experience in their lives. There is not a score or a grade high enough to give the vets, the techs and anyone that works or is affiliated with CHP. I will not say I am a customer; I am a family member of CHP for over twenty years. I have had the joy of bringing new life into CHP to celebrate with everyone, my kittens, my puppies, my gerbils, and one strange ferret. My son’s ferret Astor was just 6 months old when he shattered his leg. Now most vets would have told my 8 year old son that there was nothing to be done. However, Dr. Bill Stonehocker smiled and said let me try something. This amazing man took a chicken bone and fixed that ferrets leg for my baby. That ferret lived other 8 years. Dr. Stonehocker was with me and my family the day we welcomed our amazing basset hound into the world, and held us together as a family as we said good-bye 17 years later when we lost him. Even 15 years after the sudden death of my Aussie in room 2, every tech and vet knows never to put me and my pets in that room. Today, my husband and I have two amazing Aussies. I receive reminder cards in the mail, to ensure that all their health needs are kept up to date. Both my dogs compete with the Colorado Disc dogs and are thoroughly checked for any signs of early arthritis. I know you have a hundreds of vets to choose from. But you want a vet get a vet, you want someone to give your family member the love and care that you give them take them to CHP because handling a health issue is one thing. Taking care of your pet with love is what you know in your heart they deserve and what you truly want for them.
