I wish I could give zero stars. I dont live in Thornton but chose to go to Eastlake because I was staying with my parents in Thornton when I noticed both my dogs had a missing patch of hair on their right hind leg, and I got concerned it might be something contagious. After receiving a less than warm welcome (the receptionist expected me to weigh both my dogs myself without offering any help or help from a vet tech which is hard when youre trying to weigh two dogs separately in a new place surrounded by other pets), the vet spent maybe 10 minutes with them and admitted he had no idea what would cause that. I told him I have a vet friend in another state who recommended a skin scrape to rule out ringworm and mites and just for peace of mind since scrapes are inexpensive. The vet did the scrape and it came back negative for both, and then he just said he had no idea so I suggested the other thing my vet friend mentioned that it might be a reaction to a vaccine. He agreed that was a possibility and sent me on my way. I was happy it was nothing contagious but frustrated I didnt get any real answers and basically spent only about 10 minutes bouncing ideas off a vet offering no help or advice, but again was just thankful it wasnt something contagious. Then I went to pay and was charged $220! I asked why and was given an itemized receipt...$48 each for each skin scrape and $58 each for a physical exam on each dog. I told the receptionist that the vet didnt give my dogs a physical exam and that the price was outrageous given the short amount of time he spent with them and that he wasnt able to determine the cause of their hair loss patches. She said that anytime a vet even looks at your dog its considered a physical and told me she could put in a complaint with the office manager. I tried to protest the cost, but it was obvious she didnt care and had no say in the matter so I did tell her to put in the complaint, but thats also why Im reviewing them here. Completely rude, clueless staff and a total rip off!

We were multi-pet clients at Eastlake Veterinary for about two years. Although I particularly liked Dr. Miller, we encountered several business and kennel issues. The most significant had to do with the care of our then-17/18 year old cat, which we boarded with Eastlake to ensure he received his 2x/day medication. When we picked up our cat at the end of boarding, we discovered that they completely FAILED TO MEDICATE OUR CAT FOR THE ENTIRE WEEK. They further apparently didnt notice that he was in active withdrawal from the medication, which has obvious symptoms. We did come to a resolution on this issue and we boarded the cat one more time many months later. This time, they medicated the cat with the INCORRECT DOSE, not to mention that the office called us during our trip to find out if we wanted to update our dogs vaccines while they were boarded--a topic that Id spent 30-minutes on the phone with PRIOR to our trip, yet they had no record of. When Eastlake sent our pets medical records to us, we had yet another surprise: Early in our relationship with Eastlake Vet, we took the vets recommendation to have our dogs teeth cleaned with a dental specialist who came to their office weekly to perform non-anastesia teeth cleanings. We had no issue with the service that was performed; however, when we read our dogs records after severing the ties with Eastlake Vet, the records indicated that our dog HAD BEEN GIVEN ANESTHESIA, and a note in the file just said to bill the client at a next visit. We were never informed that our dog was given anesthesia, nor were we ever informed that we perhaps had actually paid for the anesthesia at a subsequent visit. We have since been extremely pleased with our pets care and business practices at Caring Hands Veterinary at 136th and Colorado.

We stopped going to this vet, despite the super close proximity to our home. Things just never seem to go smoothly at this vet. Even with appointments, I have never waited less than 15 minutes past the appointment time, including blood draw appointments, which take 2 minutes once they take my dog back to do it. The front desk is usually friendly, but has a "We cant do that" mentality. My biggest criticism is about my elderly lab mix. When he turned 7 or 8, I had blood work done on him. The results showed elevated liver enzymes, and they recommended that I start giving him Vitamin E. So I did. A few years later, when his arthritis was causing him a little pain, and the cosequin sold at pet stores wasnt helping as much as Id like, I went in for a stronger supplement. The vet wanted to prescribe Rimidyl, even though I clarified I wanted a supplement or vitamin, not pain. I also mentioned a number of times that my dogs liver enzymes were already on the high side. She dismissed my concerns, and asked me to come back in a week for a blood draw to see how Rimidyl was affecting him. A week and a half AFTER the blood draw, I called the vet for his results, since I hadnt heard (They said it would take a day or two) Someone called me back the next day and told me to take him off the Rimidyl immediately, because his liver enzymes had skyrocketed. They also gave me an expensive prescription for Denemarin, a liver medicine. (The medicine ended up not being very effective, and it took a couple years for my dogs liver to heal...) So we chose a new vet, further away. And we are much happier.

Nobody wants to think about their beloved pets end of life, but it is a reality we all have to deal with eventually as pet owners. I recently visited with my 19 year old cat, Jadzia, and knew that her time was near. The staff treated us with great compassion and helped give us a dignified end to my beloved cats life. The staff examined her, gave us the option to do blood work to diagnose, and agreed to do it in house since they knew we wanted quick answers. Dr. Miller and the staff were very caring and compassionate as she presented us with a diagnosis, presented options, and scheduled a time to euthanize the same day. We were given time alone with her to say goodbye and paid before the procedure was done. This was my first time going through this experience and it is very sad, but the way that the staff treated my beloved pet, me, and my wife really made it as easy as it could be. I previously had my cat treated here and was also happy with the care she received. I would definitely recommend this clinic if your pet needs care.
