Angry vet. I had been going to Dr. Coogan since I moved to Wilmington a few years ago. I had an appointment to bring my two dogs that have been going for 2.5 years and my new husbands dog, who would have been a first time patient. We went for exams and a heartworm test. The tech asked about their vaccines which were coming due but Dr. Coogan only offers annual vaccines instead of 3 year vaccines, which theyd been getting. Penny gets very ill from the vaccines and I said that Id prefer to get her a three year vaccine even if I had to bring her somewhere else for it. The vet tech left the room and came back and told us that we had to leave, that Dr. Coogan would only see us if we came for vaccines as well. We asked to speak with him and he came into the room angry and told us to leave. He said that we couldnt choose what wed come to him for, he didnt want us as patients. I was happy with this vet for years and never experienced a vet coming into the room and yelling at me, telling me to get out. My dogs had seen Dr. Coogan whenever they were sick or needed care for the past few years. I had made the appointment for the three dogs for exams and heartworm tests, if he had such a requirement that we had to have vaccines there and could only do a one year vaccine they should have let us know when we made the appointment. This was upsetting and ridiculous. His behavior was unacceptable and unprovoked. Terrible choice for a vet.

I was somewhat surprised to see even a couple of positive reviews here of Kentmere Veterinary Hospital. Weve been taking our dog here for about a year and a half and have decided not to return. The service here is so bad in fact, Ive gone as far as posting this review and encouraging friends with new animals to stay clear. The prices seem so incredibly high, they appear to border on gouging. Dr. Coogan, on each of our visits could not seem any less interested in us or our dog, spending seconds with us, being rushed to get out of the exam room even when there were no other patients at the clinic. On one visit, the price was over $100 for a check up and to have the dog examined for a stomach issue.. The time the doctor spent with us for such a charge? Less than 120 seconds!!!!! About a minute and a half, and that was only after we stopped him from trying to leave quickly by asking him one last question. Dr. Coogan and Kentmere Veterinary Hospital is a perfect example of why some people just dont bother getting their pets regular vet visits, because theyre afraid of getting people like this. This clinic and its doctor are terrible examples of veterinary care.

My wife and I have entrusted our dogs, seven of them, to Kevin Coogan for fifteen to twenty years. We tried several veterinarians before we found him and the great staff at Kentmere Veterinary Hospital. In no way has Kevin ever been anything but compassionate and competent. For anyone to term him as a "hothead" does not have ground to do so. On the contrary, we always have found Kevin to be friendly and professional. Our dogs are extremely comfortable with Dr. Coogan and his assistants. We have referred countless dog owners to Kentmere and have received many thank-yous from those that we have sent. For first-rate, caring veterinary care, Dr. Kevin Coogan is second to none. Kevin constantly sits on the floor with the dogs, plays with and hugs them, and treats them with respect. Dr. Coogan is professional, respectful, and friendly; yet he is direct with respect to unreasonable owner expectations and treatment of their pets. A "hothead"? Absolutely not. An excellent veterinarian with a great demeanor? Yes, yes, and yes!

I also have been going to Kentmere for many years. I have appreciated the fact that his prices were not unreasonable and I felt the service was always good. But recently I lost my best friend of 12 years. Dr Coogan handled the entire matter in a professional but very personal way. His handling of that situation at my home made my entire family although heartbroken feel very comfortable. On that day I saw a side of him that was far more personal than what you would normally see in the office. My family and I will always be grateful for his help. In addition we expect to a member of the Kentmere family for many years to come

I took my two Yorkies to see Dr. Kevin Coogan today. As I sat in the waiting room, I could hear him talking with the parent of another patient. I hear him tell this woman that he was going to provide the best care possible for her cat. That he was going to use the info shed given him to provide as close to the care she had been giving her cat. I heard the relief in her voice. I understood how important that was for her to hear. And its important for other pet owners to know too! Always grateful to have the best of care!

The absolute BEST!!! We have been to so many places in the past. Be aware, they are Busy folks and so consultations may not last long; but that is probably because of their client base growing. Staff is great and Dr. is wonderful. They recently helped our chihuahua through dental surgery, She is Happy and Healthy!!! Giving, caring, Amazing people. We cannot thank them enough!

Ive been bringing my dog to Kentmere since I first got her. The experience has always been pleasant for me, and my dog has always been treated with care. HE doesnt try to upsell you on things your dog doesnt need like I used to experience at Windcrest, who would always give you the worst case scenario, not the most likely one, like Dr. Coogan does. Rates are fair as well.

Stopped in for a reference on a breeder for a particular breed, and vet himself came out and talked to me in person about the breed and the pluses and minuses of them. I now not only have a breeder to get me a pup, but a vetinarian who took time out of his schedule for no $$.. To help me! Thanks

Dr. Coogan has taken care of my dogs for the last ten years. He cares about them, and does not bleed you for every dime. He is realistic about end of life issues and offered to come to our house when our Lab was at the end. I trust his integrity, intellect, and care, and so do my dogs.

Dr. Coogan and his techs are very caring and compassionate and are very accommodating when I call for an unscheduled appointment due to illness with one of my dogs. I feel that my animals are getting the best care possible when placed in Dr. Coogans care.

Dr. Coogan is a fantastic Vet. His staff is fantastic as well. He really cares for the animals in his care and has very fair prices. I researched vets in this area and he is by far the best. I would recommend him to any animal owner.
