Yes they are nice, yes the place is cool. I started taking my golden there soon after he developed issues with his food/eating we literally went almost 6 months trying different foods different diets, and when those didnt work then came the meds to prevent him from vomiting and prevent his diarrhea, which didnt solve anything... During the 6 months or trying different diets (the vet was positive that it was a food allergy) I urged for different tests, x-rays etc. but was always told wed wait a while before we went those routes... Until one day when he started to vomit blood, I immediately scheduled an appointment with a friends veterinarian in the Palisades area in DC. Took him in the same day, Id brought a copy of all of the Atlas Vet records for them to review, they right away started with multiple tests, discovered blood was also in his fecal sample (not good) so they did a sonogram on my baby and we discovered hed had a cancerous tumor growing inside of his stomach this whole time, which was now the size of his entire stomach. Hed lost so much blood from the vomiting that he needed a blood transfusion asap, if he survived that wed see if there was anything that could be done to save him... Basically I was too late to save him. I wasnt going to put him through all these hoops as weak and sick as he already was. But my point here is this vet in Palisades found was was wrong the same day, they listened to me and we did everything possible to see what the problem was. Why didnt this happen at Atlas??? Why couldnt you guys just see that obviously the changes in his diet were not working maybe we should do some additional testing....? Maybe I could have caught the cancer early enough to do something about it at the very least make his life less painful. Lesson learned, word to the wise always get a second opinion, it doesnt matter how nice your vet is.

I have taken both cats and dogs to vets for over 20 years and this is the best one Ive been to. Regardless of which of the vets at Atlas that Ive brought Spiderman (the cat) to, each has delivered the same kind, attentive care to the cat while also being really down to earth, friendly and positive in interacting with me. All of the staff - from the awesome people at the front, to the vet techs, to the vets, are a pleasure to work with. I (and Spiderman) loved that the exam rooms do not have the unfriendly, clinical feel most vets have. The rooms dont have that scary stainless steel exam table that all animals hate; instead the rooms have just a rug and a comfy chair - like your living room. It deadens the noise, warms the room, and immediately put my pet at ease. During the exam, the vet tech and the vets sat on the floor with the cat - again putting him at ease - and were cool with the cat wandering around the room and waiting until he was ready for the various parts of the exam (heart, ear check, etc) instead of forcing the cat to submit under duress. I think that how your pet experiences the vet is enormously important but they are also great at the medical side of things! All of the medical and behavioral problems Ive gone in for have been competently treated and carefully explained without being at all condescending or patronizing. Their hours are great - Saturdays are super busy, but that is to be expected. Even with all of the people and pets coming in and out on a Saturday, the staff at the front have always been friendly - which is not an easy task when dealing with a constant flow of people. I - and Spiderman - could not be happier with Atlas Vet. I wont bring him anywhere else.

My husband and I are so grateful for Atlas Vet. We met Dr. Matt A. well before the clinic opened, and were quickly won over by his playful and gentle spirit...Madison fell in love with him right away. When Atlas finally opened we took her in and were immediately impressed by the warm and cozy environment and friendly staff. Weve seen both Dr. Matt A. and Dr. Miller, and they play with her while conducting their exam...Madison thinks its a game. They do not prop her up on a cold metal table and poke and prod her, but tussle with her on the carpet carefully looking her over. It makes my heart smile, bc I know they love and respect animals on every level. Their approach to animals health is comprehensive, focusing on the animal’s overall well-being. They are wonderful to her and so good to us. We know when we take our pet to Atlas she is in good, capable hands, The staff is incredible and the doctors are thorough, warm, caring, kind, compassionate, and love truly love what they do! The follow-up post visit is what I always appreciate. We have since moved to the southern part of DC and there is another vet clinic closer to us, but we prefer to keep Madison at the best animal hospital in town, where everyone treats her like the sweet little girl she is ;) . We highly recommend taking your beloved pet to Atlas, he/she will get the proper care they deserve, and you will get the peace of mind you deserve.

I went to this place and saw Dr. Cartlidge, and I absolutely loved her. She was very kind, funny, and made both me and my cats feel at ease. Her goal of treatment was to be diligent but she aimed at keeping costs down. I highly approved of her scientific approach to finding out the cause of my cats issue. She also asked for my consent before she did anything, which was great. Dr. Cartlidge and the front staff are all amazing. I recommended them wholeheartedly... for a while. I referred a friend here in August 2014 and I am embarrassed that I did. I believe your experience will vary widely depending on what Doctor you are assigned. This woman basically did everything to drive up costs, including giving subcutaneous fluids to a cat that didnt need it and giving an antibiotic injection when pills would have sufficed. She did all of this without consent, and my friend was stuck with a very upset and traumatized cat and a huge vet bill. My friends cat urinated all over the place overnight - no doubt from the needles fluids. I cant believe this is the same place we are talking about. I will return to see Dr. Cartlidge, and in the future I may refer people to see her. Just beware of who you see, and make sure you state up front that you require consent before ANY treatment.

We visited Atlas Vet after moving to DC with our 12 year old weimaraner Inde who had been romping around one day, and then was having troubles walking and lifting her head the next day. It was hard to go to a brand new vet especially when our dog wasnt feeling her best. We couldnt have gotten luckier with the doctors and staff at Atlas Vet over the next 18 months until we made the difficult decision to say goodbye. They were kind, caring, knowledgeable, greeted us by name when we came in, presented different options for her care, squeezed her in for emergency appointments when needed, called or emailed to follow up to see how things were going (depending on my choice), answered our many questions, provided different ways to buy and refill medicine, and comforted both the dog and the humans through the entire process. Everyone at Atlast Vet is top notch - the best vet experience we had in 4 different cities and 13 years of a happy weimaraners very active life! Oh - and we have a cat too - shes pretty low maintenance - Atlas Vet is awesome with her too.
