I have 3 dogs and 3 cats and have been a client at the Animal and Bird Hospital of Clearwater for approximately 15 years. At one time I had 9 pets, including a parakeet who were treated there. I have the utmost respect for the veterinarians and their staff and am impressed with their professional knowledge and understanding of animals. They have treated my pets with humor and compassion , creating an atmosphere of safety and comfort for them. I have had pets with serious injuries and medical problems, including a cat with a hind leg that was broken in 2 different places, a cat that had her eye punctured and a bloated parakeet. The vets showed expertise in their treatment and sensitivity to the needs of the animals, as well as to me, during these crises. They were even there for us on a Christmas eve. and I was able to take my cat home on Christmas! I have also had 2 dogs that had reached the end of their lives and were euthanized there. Again the staff responded to these difficult times with gentleness and compassion. The veterinarians and staff have always taken the time to make my pets feel welcome; I have a Bullmastiff who refused to go into the waiting room during his initial visit and the veterinarian came outside with two others to "ease" him in. Now he gallops in and loves to visit his doctor! I have a rescued Labradoodle who is timid on approach and when I informed the technicians of this, they got down on her level , so she felt safe. We have further benefited from the other multiple services available at the hospital including The grooming at The Pet Resort and Obedience Training led by Kristen White, their animal behaviorist. Kristen has helped me to understand and work with my dogs using positive reinforcement, which has been rewarding and fun. She has been available for consultation whenever there has been a behavioral challenge. I believe that our pets should receive the same care as humans, and be treated with the same respect, comfort and quality and I am assured of this at the Animal and Bird Hospital of Clearwater.

I would never suggest this place to my worst enemy. We called and made the laser cropping appointment I had called two days later to add a litter mate they said the doctor was going to be out of town the day my appointment was scheduled so they mad another appointment. I had called the day before to confirm my own appointment because they didnt at that point they told me they didnt even have a record of us but could squeeze us in even though I made an appointment two weeks prior. We got there and the doctor was mad that the receptionist quoted us the wrong price and was bitching at us that we were under paying then he decided to run a bunch of tests b.c my dog had only gained 5 lbs that week and was malnurished. After driving 2 hours for the appointment and it was the last week we could do the surgery b.c the doctor had to push it back because he was traveling did we finally convince him to do the surgery. We got her back he never gave us after care instructions the nurse gave us our puppy by a closet b.c they didnt have rooms they didnt wrap her ears or tape them just left the fresh ears flopping around and we got home and he butchered her ears which I believe was on purpose b.c we were quoted under priced now we had to find someone else that would fix his horrendous mistake I will never bring an animal here very unprofessional .

Dr. Murphy was a true blessing to meet and care for our Doberman Pinscher. Our dog needed corrective surgery on his ears. As you know, Dobermans are known for their appearance. Especially having their ears pointed straight up. Well, our big boy had is his ears cropped by a different vet, but his ears wouldnt stay up. If he wanted them to stay up, his right ear would flop down. We researched online for a doctor who could fix this problem and lucky for us we found Dr. Murphy! Long story short, she was there for us 100%, including her staff. Our dog stayed at the clinic for 19 days after surgery per our request to make sure he would heal correctly. We live 6.5 hours away! Dr. Murphy updated us with texts, phone calls, and video footages while we were apart. Our dog was not only in the best of care, but he was happy (photos proved it)! What an incredible, gifted doctor who did a beautiful job on our Dobermans ears. Very caring doctor and staff! Today, our dog is looking bad a - -! His ears stay straight up and he knows he looks good too! Thank you Dr. Murphy!

We had called this particular vet hoping to find some answers for our German Shepards separation anxiety. We work full time and our dog stays at home (like any normal working americans situation) We had tried to not crate him but he would eat our furniture while gone and howl for hours. So we started crating him. One start started he was trying to break out to the point where we has hurting himself. Upon speaking with the behavioral specialist she advised that crating the dog while we are at work was the problem. I tired to explain to her that thus goes past crating, that we have tried to leave him out and we have the same issue. She then proceeded to tell me that German Shepards should not be left alone while we work, that they are not that type of dog. This is the most ridiculous thing Ive ever heard of. No one works full time and has a German Shepherd? Also her lack of professionalism was quite astounding. She started off the call with a very nasty approach. We have use this vet in the past and loved it but we will no longer be customers.

Although I will say Dr. Murphy is very nice and knowledgeable, her counterpart is rude and condescending. She tried to push vaccines on me that my animals have never had in 7 years and after I explained I didnt find them necessary she said "oh are you a vet." Also, will run test on your animals without discussing the reason, benefit, or cost. Expected a bill for around $50 for a visit and left with one closer to $200. Also will unnecessarily sedate your animal for grooming claiming animal is "too aggressive" because either they do not have the patience to deal with your animal or want the extra $40 to knock your animal out. Even though sedation is an extremely unnecessary risk to your pet. Found new groomer who has stated my pet is an absolute delight and should 100% never have been subjected to unnecessary sedation. Beware!! This office is more interested in making money than helping animals. They even have the girls at the desks hustling outrageously expensive food and products. Keep your money and go to a vet that will care about your animal.

I was introduced to this office by a friend, and I am so grateful I was. My dogs previous vet offices were cold, disorganized and near impossible to deal with. The drive from Tampa to Clearwater for this office is well worth it. The whole staff is kind and funny, and very sweet to the animals and their owners alike. They were very helpful in making appointments around my work and school schedule. My 13-year-old Sheltie came in with numerous problems, which were all solved by the deft hand of Dr. Culpepper. The day after her surgery, when I called in because my dog wasnt doing well (shes old, and it just hit her hard) but I wasnt able to bring her in, I was given reassurance and guidance by Dr. Culpepper herself and a personal number to call in case of emergency. I have also received calls and explanations about my dogs procedures from Culpepper herself rather than a tech or front desk associate, which was surprising and wonderfully pleasing. This place is the best!
