As an equine professional operating a hunter jumper boarding, training & showing facility for over 28 years I have had the opportunity to work with many veterinarians both large & small animal in the Ft Myers area, across Florida & the eastern United States, also being active in small animal rescue, & having a house full of animal companions for more than 20 years, I recently found myself in search of a small animal clinic to take over the care of my personal beloved animal companions. After taking my dogs or cats to several other well known/advertised small animal clinics in the Ft Myers area over the past 2+ years, I simply could not find a small animal clinic I felt comfortable placing the care & well being of my beloved animal companions with. Recently I was fostering dogs for a local rescue & was taking the foster dogs to Best Friends Animal Hospital, I was very pleased with the expertise veterinary care, level of compassion, dedication of both Dr George & Dr Black, the entire staff was always friendly, helpful, knowledge & eager to get to know me. Two weeks ago I found myself in a very difficult situation with one of my personal rescue dogs, Best Friends & Dr Black was ready & willing to help me, showing kindness & caring even though I was not actually a client at that time. At that time i decided to make Best Friends my vet clinic to care for all of my small animal needs. Earlier today (7/7/16) I took my older dog with multiple issues in for care after her chronic arthritis left her in extreme pain. The appointment with Dr George was so refreshing & a truly positive experience, her understanding of my older dogs multiple issues, taking time to discuss "quality of life" aspects of care for my dog, as well as taking into consideration my financial budget available for diagnosis & reasonable care for my beloved old dog. The decision to make Best Friends Animal Hospital the veterinary clinic to care for all of my animal companions is a decision that has proved to be a fantastic decision & the care provided in every aspect of the clinic is well worth the extra time to drive to Gateway for me.

Although I liked Dr. Black and Dr. Hernandez, I was greatly upset when I brought my cat to them on two occasions for treatment; it seems to me their office was more interested in my money than what was best for my cat. Within 18 months of spending nearly $400 and what I believe now to be a misdiagnosis, I returned from a weekend away and found my baby was not eating or drinking, and throwing up vile. I was originally told she was in renal failure (which meant little to me at the time) and that the treatment would be about $400 per day and might help to give her more quality time to her life. I had to put her down the next morning because she was in total distress and I was charged $1,293 for one overnight treatment. I was very upset that after being charged $1,293 I lost my cat anyway. Knowing my baby was that close to death, I should have been told there was no hope for her, rather than charging me an excessive amount for treatment that was too late and not going to work. I am seeking a new vet.

I had a horrible experience at Best Friends Animal Hospital in Fort Myers, Fl., stay far away from this vet hospital !! Brought my dog for her first visit which was with Dr George. She lacked compassion, their policies are not flexible or reasonable, the front office was confusing & scattered as we walked in, guess theres not ample staff. The visit was so bad that we had to bring our loved dog to another local animal hospital and of course we had to pay another office visit fee. But it was worth it in the end, as we found another animal hospital nearby who were absolutely wonderful & caring, so we came out ahead. Luckily, it wasnt an emergency & we had the time to find a better vet after the very negative experience at Best Friends.

Best Friends Animal Hospital is by far the best office and staff we could ask for. Weve been taking our dogs there for many years and we trust the doctors and staff implicitly. They take a lot of time to explain everything thats going on with your pet and what treatments may be needed and if there are available alternatives. They even call the house after a procedure or visit to make sure that everything is OK and to ask if you have any questions. I wish I got the same level of care from my own doctors. Now that BF is offering grooming, they truly are a one-stop shop...awesome pet care, boarding and grooming. I just cant recommend then highly enough. Thanks for everything - youre the greatest! =o)

We were in Ft Myers for Christmas and our dog needed attention for an intestinal obstruction. Best Friends was conveniently close, but I was wary because of the reviews I saw. They were great in a challenging situation. Turns out the obstruction was a large tumor. Dr. Seredick was very professional and compassionate in reviewing our options. Dr. Black assisted with the complex and lengthy surgery. The staff was pleasant and professional and kept us well informed as we fretted about our girl. It was a challenging day for us, made easier by the team at Best Friends.And our dog is now home and recovering. So far so good.

We were visiting Ft. Myers from Nashville when our beagle got a eye infection. I looked up this place online and saw that it had excellent reviews, so we took our beagle to see them. They definitely deserve the excellent ratings. If we were locals we would probably choose them as our vet clinic. The staff are extremely friendly, the operation is well organized, and the efficiency is high so there was very little wait time even though we were from out of town and they had to contact our vet back home. Highly recommended.

The office staff never knows what is going on. On one visit I waited for 20 minutes for them to call us for a simple exam, finally I asked when they would call me, oh yes, bring your dog right back. I could still be sitting there. On another occasion, we were away on vacation and the sitter brought my dog in, they ran every test in the book over a three day period, $1200!!!!! It was a case of the owner away, lets go play with their money. Found a new vet, will never go back, horrible money grubbing and stupid staff.

Had my rabbit neutered here about a year ago while staying with my parents for a month. Dr. Jackson did an excellent job with the procedure, and the staff was great help when I was concerned about his decreased appetite after the surgery. He is just as happy as ever. They were also very accommodating when I had to bring him as a walk in when he hurt his leg/foot, and helped me out a lot with pricing. I would highly recommend Dr. Jackson and his team.

i would like to say that best friends animal hospital is the best place to take your animal dr black is excellent doctor i have a german shepard and he loves her shes so good with max shes the only one i trust with my dog im sure there are other good doctors there but i just love how she treats my dog the staff there is very nice they always help me with max i would like to say if your lookind for a place to take your animal best friends is the best
