My father, a WWII Vet, was transferred to this hospital from the Lake Nona VA CLC late in the afternoon of Friday, February 5th. He appeared confused - but otherwise he was strong and in good health for his age. Basically, nothing was found to be wrong with him except a UTI and this could have influenced his confusion. That weekend at a doctors recommendation, I agreed to have a lesion on on arm tested and removed. I was told the procedure could be performed that Monday or Tuesday - and then he could be returned to the VA. Days turned in to a week for the procedure to be scheduled. While waiting and complaining about the delay, I wrote to express concerns. My father was not getting exercise and, because of mittens they put on his hands, he could not feed himself. He had been active before coming to the hospital, he wasnt used to being confined to bed and now was deteriorating with the lack of care. I kept asking the nurses if the hospital was communicating with the VA so he could return soon. I was always told "yes." One morning I came in to find him naked and without a sheet or blanket - anywhere in the room and the temperature down to 68 degrees. When I asked his assigned nurse about it she said he was a new patient to her and the night nurse said he was kicking off the covers . Please! I left the room and returned with a sheet and blanket and turned the temperature up for my father. I think he was trying to exercise in bed - just as he had done back at the VA. My father was becoming weaker, they werent feeding him, again, and they stopped giving him physical therapy. He was getting sores on his backside. I kept asking the hospital staff about my father returning to the VA and staff kept telling me all was being coordinated with the VA . By the week of the 16th when I asked the VA about all this, the VA said they wanted him back and had called but, if the hospital was contacting them, "they must be talking to the janitor." Trying to get him out of the hospital was a horrific experience. I had been given misinformation by hospital staff. On the 20th I asked the weekend caseworker about who was coordinating with the VA. He looked at the chart and could find nothing in the records. On the 21st I asked the doctor who was talking to the VA and he said the caseworker. On the morning of Monday the 22nd, I contacted the lead case manager to find out if she was talking to the VA and to get him out of there ASAP. She said it wasnt her responsibility to talk to the VA - it was the doctors!. That morning after both the VA and I raised strong concerns, my father was finally discharged and transferred back to the VA . He died in his room at 5pm the same day - February 22nd. By 8pm he was draped under the American flag, an announcement was made in the VA CLC and vets came out of their rooms to salute my fathers body as he was taken away. He was posthumously awarded the Stars and Stripes Medal at a brief ceremony there on site. I thank GOD that I got him out of the hospital - but it should have been sooner. It is my opinion that he didnt get the best care possible at this hospital and hospital staff misinformed me. Possibly some at the hospital were blind to the fact that staff was misinforming itself. His stay there is not an experience I would wish on anyone.

My aunt Nancy Restko had an ambulance take her to the hospital on May 5th in the early morning hours. She was having a hard time breathing, had a terrible headache and could not speak clearly, she was very confused and could not remember her own address. When the ambulance arrived they noticed she was awake and alert but very confused. My aunt is a diabetic also. The first thing the paramedic said to her was "Are you sure you want to be in the ambulance as it will cost you $500.00" My aunt normally refuses an ambulance but this time she knew something was going wrong. She gets to the hospital and they put her on a bed and left her there screaming in pain that her head hurt and asked for relief. The emergency room nurse or whoever she was (wish i had her name) told my aunt that she needs to understand how busy she is and had to go upstairs to attend to someone else leaving my aunt sitting there!!! Finally her blood pressure is checked and it is 300 very high. The staff there in this death trap gave her a prescription for her blood pressure meds and told her to go home and that all her symptoms were due to high blood pressure. They never checked her heart or anything else to rule out other illnesses, since she does not have insurance and is living below poverty level they threw her out of the hospital! When I went a few hours later to pick her up she was sitting outside the emergency room alone with no one to comfort her. A week later my aunt called me and said she was not feeling good pretty much the same symptoms as last time but not as confused. Instead of calling an ambulance and having to deal with their attitude about $$$$$ she drove herself to Florida Hospital (Which is a great hospital) she explained to the staff there what she has been experiencing and they right away started running tests. My aunt was having a HEART ATTACK! They admitted her right away and since then she has had a triple bypass! Yes Florida Hospital did all of this without her having any insurance and are helping her get Medicaid etc. Osceola Regional is a horrible place she had a stroke the first time and said those idiots said she felt bad because of her high blood pressure and that was all!!!! She could have died so i tell anyone who is sick or has an emergency to please not go to this hospital the staff is rude and have no compassion for the poor. As long as you do not have insurance you will not get the care you need. This is not the first incident. My mother almost died too. She went to Osceola Regional to have a blood transfusion, she stayed for a few days and was let go to go home. The next day she had a seizure and we almost lost her, come to find out this death trap overdosed her with blood. The staff are uneducated, so I say again avoid this hospital at all costs. I have thought about suing but you know all these jerks think they are god just because they went to med school will try and cover everything up like they always do!!!!! Beware of this place. Florida Hospital has three locations, One in Kissimmee on OBT and two in Orlando. The staff are great there and they saved my aunts life.

My wife had to go to the emergency room for stomach pains and relentless vomiting. After we get to the ER they are asking her about her pains and conclude it might be appendicitis. Turns out that it was not, tell us shell get a ultra sound... Never happens... Tell us shes going to get a pelvic exam... Never happens... The whole time shes telling the doctors and nurses that her mother had the same issues and she had ulcers... They tell her that shell get a GI camera to her stomach to see... Never happens We arrived to the hospital at 0930 and she was consistently looked at by nurses and doctors until about 1300. From that point it just dwindled to nurses giving pain killers and meds for nausea, and no information on whats going on, when a doctor is going to us what the next step is, asking one nurse where or nurse is. They didnt let my wife eat because of her nausea and her throwing up. She went consistent without throwing up for 2 hours and we were asking her nurse to findout if she could eat and all we got is "let me ask" this doctor that we have no clue who it is at this point. Fast forward to the next day as she was admitted into the hospital snd they have no idea whats going on. Nurses are continuing to give prescribed meds and answers about how they dont know when the doctor will be seen. The doctor (Dr. Asrar) never showed until 1500, and said we think you might have an ulcer do were going to treat it add such until the GI can see you. Tells us he put in the order for the GI to see her at 2000 the previous night and that he had 24 hours to even see us. It is now 2115 and he had still not shown. I was also told that this Dr. Is consistently late and that he has another patient to be seen and theyre just as pissed as we are. His name (Dr. Fleitas forgive my spelling) he literally just showed up as Im writing this review. This place is terrible the nursing staff had about 2 decent people out of the 5 nurses weve had, the doctors here are worthless. They need to do a medical review board on this staff or build another hospital because this place is just terrible. Further note... He just left and all he had to say was that tomorrow he will be doing his check on her explained a couple of quick things and left... Two days time wasted for something that is only going to take five minutes and her to more then likely be discharged with some oral medication and some tips/rules on what to/not eat/do. Come here with this warning in mind but be prepared to be thoroughly disappointed
