This was the first place I trusted and brought all 3 of my kids since they were infants. I finally left after so many terrible experiences had happened to me and my children. My daughter went for her shots and there was a new nurse who gave her the shots she needed. She placed both shots on the top of her thighs, a few hours later my daughter was crying and in pain and couldnt walk without crying over and over again that she couldnt walk mommy because my leg hurts. I called concerned and they told me it would get better and go away. The next visit there was another girl who was giving shots and when i asked her are you suppose to insert the needle on the top of her thighs ? the face she gave me left me scared. She said NO NEVER. In the past I always remember them placing them on the sides of the thighs. I was so upset and I asked her where that girl was she said she no longer works here. My son developed a rash on his hands feet and around the mouth buttocks and his legs. I took him in to see Dr. Samuel mehta. After giving the dr all the details and symptoms my son was having he said he didnt know what was causing it. Did he eat something, sometime bite him...skin reaction??. he didnt know. He sent me home with an antibiotic. That night my son was worse and very irritated. I took him to the emergency room. A nurse took his info and vitals after she saw the rashes she said this looks like "hands foot and mouth disease" As soon as the dr there saw my son and looked at the rash and where it was he stated that is was " hands foot and mouth" (coxsackie virus). When I went to work the next day I talked to a friend that has kids and told them about my son they said oh my kid had that before its called " hands foot and mouth disease" Why is it that 3 people can clearly say what is was based on the symptoms and dr samel metha could not. He could only tell me he didnt know and just gave him an antibiotic and sent us on out way. I could have googled those symptoms and google would has guessed what it was. I NO LONGER GO TO THAT PLACE ! I tell every parent I know not to go there either. TERRIBLE AND NOT PROFESSIONAL. I trusted them and they failed me. Be careful.

I have read some bad reviews about this office but I realize people tend to write these out of "emotion". I will give an honest review here for those who may consider having them as your pediatrician. Dr.Paytel and Dr. mehta are great doctors and genuinely love their job! I can say that wholeheartedly after being on both sides of having government issued (state dictates PCP), subsidized insurance (which you pay a lower premium depending pon your income) and now having private insurance (I get to dictate choosing my doctor). After dealing with doctors that seemed to roll their eyes when you ask a question or dismiss your knowledge, these Pediatricians expand on what you know. I also love the fact that they talk me like a human not a resident. I understand what they are saying and I dont leave any less knowledgeable than when I arrived. My son has special needs and tons of allergies, and both Drs. are very helpful with him. All the of my children have been seen by them and I come all the easy from S. Tampa (near AFB) to see them. I guess the bad at this office is sometimes the longer wait(ranges from 5-25 minutes) but that is more so due to scheduling, sometimes both are there and sometimes its just one. Whenever I need a last minute visit, they can accommodate same day appointments if you "really" need it or next business day. You can get scheduled within 2 days during a busy week. When you find a doctor right for your family tybhst speaks "your " language, you want to stick with them. Just because yoiu dont connect with a doctor, doesnt mean they are bad, they are just not for you and thats fine since there a ton of amazing Pediatricians out there, patents need to be deligeny in finding them.☺

My family and I recently moved to Florida from North Carolina. My son had ear tubes put in just before we moved and they need to be checked every 3 to 4 months. Dr. Patel could not properly clean his ears to inspect the tubes and insisted we use ear drops which I knew was against the recommendation of the surgeon who performed my sons surgery. After consulting with the NC surgeon and being told to absolutely not use the ear drops suggested by Dr. Patel and to have an Ear, Nose, Throat specialist treat my sons ears, we asked Dr. Patel for a referral. He immediately became rude, condescending, egotistical and belittling, telling us "this is the LAST referral I will be giving to you. Do you understand? The LAST referral!" This was the first referral wed ever asked for and this was after Dr. Patels 3rd unsuccessful attempt to clean and inspect our sons ears. I work in healthcare myself and am painfully aware of the arrogant God complex many physicians have. Dr. Patel is correct, however, this IS the last referrall he will be giving us as we will be finding a new pediatrician. A Dr. should never let his ego and arrogance impede the care of his patient.

Dr. Mehta and Dr. Patel are phenomenal pediatricians, the nurses are very nice and patient with my children. The only complaint I have is the size and lack of toys for children. By the time the waiting room has two different families in it, it becomes cramped. The bathroom doesnt have a changing table, so I either have been forced to wait until we get a room or just change my toddler/infant in the waiting room, in front of others. There are no toys in the well waiting room, only in the sick waiting room, and once you get called back to a room to see a doctor, there are absolutely no toys in the rooms to occupy my kids while we wait for the doctor. By the time the doctor comes in to see us, my child is bored, annoyed, and on the verge of a meltdown. When I lived in Tampa, my kids had a pediatrician that had all of these amenities in her office, if I was willing to make the drive, Id go back to her in a heart beat.

have switched pediatricians for my daughter several times because I was not happy. My midwife had suggested Sunshine Ped. because of good feedback from friends. Even though it was a bit of a drive for me I decided to check them out. I am so happy I did because Im done trying to find new pediatricians because Im sticking with them. I love that they let me make decisions for MY child and support me with my alternative views. They are very kind, gentle, and attentive to my baby. You can tell they truly do love kids. If there is anything negative I would have to say is we went in for a sick visit and were there for about 2 hrs and wasnt too busy. I cant get upset though because I called at 8 and they had me come in at 10 same day. Well visits are not as long. Overall I am very pleased with this practice and look forward to growing with them. I just wish I lived closer so I could attend the events they hold.
