When I moved to the area, the 1st thing people told me was, "You HAVE to take your animals to Courtenay Animal Hospital!" Boy were they right! Over the past 2 years, I have been so grateful to know these caring vets and their wonderful staff. Before I even took one of my animals there, I called & let them know I had a terminal dog that might need emergency help at some point and they couldnt have been more gracious, even though I had never spent one dime with them. Since then, I have just gained more & more respect for them as a vet practice and as individuals. When my dear old lady dog Maggie needed help at the end, Dr. Chosa was there for us and handled it in the most compassionate way. When it turned out my rescue Shepherd had a chronic condition, Dr.Thomas was able to treat it and has kept it under control. I take all of my personal animals plus any animals I foster to them and have never for a moment doubted their expertise. Their staff is unfailingly polite and friendly. Beyond that, anyone who has been around CAH for long, soon realizes that they are not only fine vets, but the practice does much for the rescue community as well as the community at large. Does every vet visit end exactly how I want it? Of course not. This is life, not a fairy tale. Not everything is a happy ending and doctors arent gods. But what I do come away with, each and every time is the knowledge that my pet is getting the best of care from the front desk admin staff, to the kennel, to the techs, to the vets. I truly can not recommend them enough.

I have two dogs and am very particular as to the care they receive. I believe that reviews are very important for knowing and finding good service and practitioners. Dr. Chosa is very compassionate and a good veterinarian. I have veterinarians in my family so I am very picky and she is always right on as to the best treatment. What I also like is that if she doesnt know something she will say so and look it up. That to me is a sign of a good vet. Her staff and Techs are just as good as Dr. Chosa. They listen to you and are very competent and caring. I know many people think that veterinarians charge too much money. But if you compare it to human medicine it is a bargain. Also the amount of time and work that is required of a Vet it is a good value for what is charged. This vet practice is very upbeat, clean and above all excellent medical care for my pets.

They did not care about my sick pet. ONLY MONEY . Wanted me to guarantee endless supply of CASH. Called trying to find a vet for my suddenly sick puppy and the first words I hear are "we do not take checks and if xrays & bloodwork are required that can be over $300". I stated I have that cash right now, and could get more soon. Still not interested in giving me the appointment. I said" Does this mean I need to be a millionare before you care for my dog?" The reply was " Im just sayin". Their blatent absence of compassion compelled me to just hang up the phone. I knew at that point my pet is not what they care about, and I no longer wanted the appointment OR the unfriendly attitude. ( see review of AUG 10, 2010) I would guess this would be my review also if I would have taken my pet to them.

I was a new client with a cat that seemed to be dying from a blockage of some sort. They fit me in and I was very impressed with ALL the staff, the vet tech Allison and Dr. Thomas.Of course, my cat was not dying - he perked right up as soon as we arrived at the vets - and they found no sign of blockage. He did have a skin infection under his chin, which they treated. They explained cats can be allergic to plastic food bowls - even after using the bowl for several months. I have had dozens of animals over the years and used many, many vet offices. This vet center is definitely one of the best!

Never felt comfortable there. Staff was not welcoming and always seemed bothered. Anyone dealing with our four-legged family members should be compassionate and friendly, however they always seemed robotic and annoyed. The vet himself was always rushed and non-communicative. The costs are incredibly ugly compared to many others in the area and would always end up much higher that we were quoted. We are much happier with the new team weve found to care for our pets and do not recommend Courtenay Animal Hospital. Please take the time and do the leg work to find a happier place to take your pets.

My experience with Courtney Animal Hospital was very pleasant. Dr. Chosa, along with her staff, took excellent care and time with my dog. They were very helpful in making my dog feel comfortable during her exam and treatment. I wouldnt trust the care of my animals to anyone else. They have numerous ideas to care for aging dogs and I felt confident that my dog was getting the best care available. I will recommend this vet to anyone I know who needs care for their pets! I look forward to the "Pet of the Day" posting on face book.

Courtenay Animal Hospital is awesome. The entire staff is friendly, warm and genuinely cares for all animals...and their owners. I have taken all my foster dogs and my personal dog here and would absolutely recommend them to anyone. I drive 1 1/2 hours just for Courtenay Animal Hospital. They are patient and caring and take extra time to explain in detail anything and everything that may be going on with your pet. I feel completely comfortable and confident leaving any furbaby in their care. An excellent group over there!!!!!

Our red nose pittbull died from leg cancer. She couldve survived if it wasnt for the long wait for the results. 2 and a half weeks. We waited for a call that was supposed to be given in a few days tops. So we called numerous times, sometimes no answer, sometimes an answer with no results. By the first week, her arm swelled up. Second week she was put down. My advice, dont trust the lead vet here. All she cared about was $$$...

The best clinic I have ever encountered! I appreciated the great friendly service from all the staff members. They went above and beyond to help our family pet. The professional care that we received was stellar. They had a genuine concern for me and our family pet. I absolutely recommend this clinic to anyone looking for a life long veterinary clinic. Thank you very much for all that you did for me and our pet!

Skilled, Compassionate, Affordable Care !!! Dr.s Chosa and Thomas, and thier staff, are the best in town. The doctors knowledge and caring goes beyond any level of expectation. I have been taking my kids (fur kids) to Courtenay Animal Hospital for 11 years. I highly recommend CAH and guarantee you will never find such a service anywhere else. My kids actually enjoy going to the vet. That speaks for itself !!
