Going to start by explaining that I am a very blunt and very honest person. I have taken 3 different cats to this VCA and at one point I was super happy with my veterinarian. Not sure of her name but she was a blonde who no longer works there. Wish I could contact her now. Id also like to request that the office not try to contact me over my review because I am simply just not coming back. Now for my complaints: First off, I again use to love this place as all of the bad reviews are saying, but something has changed...some time ago they became money hungry...if your goal is to spend money to feel good about yourself for going the extra mile to treat your pet, this is the place for you...but if you are like me and just simply have adopted a kitten from a local shelter and need to find a place to get your vaccines for free or even cheap...find anothe place. My complaint is valid because I recieced a loving kitten from the Broward County Human Society and was informed that I had around a $300 credit for everything needed to get my kitten taken care of...now upon my arrival I was greeted and taken care of and had some worn issues taken care of, but after that I had kitten vaccinations to do, which I paid out of pocket. Two of my visits cost me around $120 even though I was under the assumption that it was supposed to be paid for. Mind you, $50 something of each of those visits goes to a "consultantion" which I cant for the life of me understand because every appointment I go to the veterinarian should be well aware of why I am there so why am I being consulted? The last visit again I was charged for a consultation and a single shot totaling to $78 give or take...again $50 something went to the consultation and $20 something to the shot that Im pretty sure doesnt cost that much. Second complaint is simply the care the staff has and the knowledge they have to handle your pets...dont get me wrong I had one vet tech that was amazing but todays visit proved to me they dont all have what it takes...the vet tech during the evaluation got intimidated by an 8 -10 week old kitten and covered her with a towel to wrap her up. As the veterinarian was giving her the shot she kept fighting him and got away from the veterinarian causing her to get more shot liquid to dose her with. Needless to say while she was away I attempted to teach the vet tech a thing or two by grabbing the back of her neck as her mother would do and calming her right down. When the veterinarian arrived back in the room I kept her neck held and grabbed her front paws to insure she knew she had not way to escape...not trying to upset the vet tech Im sure he was informed other wise...needless to say this was definitely a red flag to add to my already growing book. Last complaint and then Ill be done. The cleanliness of the rooms and the waiting area are definitely not up to code enforcement standards, and I recommend this be addressed immediately, not that its going to save me as a client or anything...just for your company sake... For starters no offense to other cats but I just simply dont want to be around them when Im bringing my kitten in for a visit...simply because I dont want them giving her anything...That aside, the room itself had hair all over the place and even about 10 blood spots on the floor which I noticed when I looked down at my scared kitten. Im not saying I am the cleanest person, by all means I am not, but I am also not in the medical field offering health to someone elses pets. This place could use a lot of work considering I have spent over $200 on just consultations. I am looking for a local veterinarian and will not be returning so please as I said before dont try to contact me. I only brought my kitten to this veterinarian office this long, because it was on a list I was given by the adoption agency I got my baby girl from. Now that she has had her last shot, I will no longer be needing your survives! Id rather pay a local veterinarian who cares about not only the cleanliness of the building but also the health of the animal.

Like many pet owners, I entrust the care of my beloved dog to the best. I had chosen VCA Imperial Point Animal Hospital on a friends recommendation so I gave the establishment a fair chance. I took my dog for yearly vaccinations and in a couple of occasions for a cough that my dog suffers from. As I began to notice, the place seemed to be a revolving door for staff in the industry. My pet was never attended by the same veterinary doctor twice. This is true to their admin staff as well. Every time I had to deal with new staff. Red flag #1. Their prices on basic services seemed to be exorbitant in comparison with other vet clinics. Since I spare no expense to take care of my pooch, I didnt mind at first but also began to notice that their staff seems to spend an awful ton of time chit chatting in the interior atrium of the clinic and less attending to pets and/or their owners. As though they truly make it a point to stay within the safe confines where no one else can see them or ask for their consult. Red flag #2. The last straw was when the last time, and the time that prompted me to switch vets, the doctor merely asked me what conditions I had noticed on my dog, then he asked me what was prescribed for her (while having my dogs file on his hand) never took a glance at it, didnt even did the usual stethoscope check for breathing, didnt even glanced to check her eyes, or nothing. 20 minutes later they came back with a $300+ bill for what was an astonishing 0:30 seconds of service. That was red flag #3. Since their staff and doctors didnt earn my patronage for the services they didnt care to provide, I will entrust the care of my dog to those who will. Maybe they are too big to even care. I calmly walked away and said, "I will be looking for a new vet and will not be coming back." Gladly I found a veterinary clinic which DOES care, and provide great service to my dog at reasonable prices and an incredibly professional staff at Bayview Animal Clinic +++ in Fort Lauderdale. Gladly only a few blocks away. PS, the friend who had referred me to VCA Imperial Point in Fort Lauderdale also moved the care of her dog to Bayview. She had the same complaints about lack of care from the staff and doctors at VCA Imperial Point and about the same things I mentioned. God bless small business in the USA.

After adopting my girl, the Humane Society of Broward recommended me to this VCA location. The proximity to home seemed fine the fact that the first check up was free was awesome. I was pleased that they were an AAHA- accredited hospital. The lobby is well kept and it seems clean. The first visit with Dr Velez-Ramos went well, but I did notice that she did not make eye contact with me EVER and her bed-side manner left something to be desired. No, biggie, I chalked it up to being tired or not having a good day and left. A few days later when walking my dog I noticed tapeworm eggs in her poop. At the wellness visit I was told that she did not have any parasites. I found it really odd, but I went in and had her examined and got an RX for her. After that I went in for the scheduled vaccinations, Dr Velez-Ramos was always distant, spoke down to me, did not elaborate on her answers and her bedside manner did not improve! At my girls 6 month wellness checkup, Dr. Velez-Ramos told me my dog was overweight (not true, on a body condition scale she would be a 5!). Dr. Velez-Ramos used scare tactics before trying to PUSH me to buy Prescription "Weight Management" food. I have awarded this location a generous 3 stars but I am in the process of finding a new Primary Vet Care for my girl. Edit: After experiencing what actual Vet care is like and should be I have decided to drop the stars from 3 to 1. This location is a sorry excuse of an Animal Hospital. I wish you all well.
