After scanning some of these negative reviews, I want to remind others, people typically ONLY go online to say something nasty... Most dont say "that was an amazing experience, I need to leave them a positive google review and tell my friends!" They just have a great experience and forget to return the kindness. So for every 5 unhappy people, there are 250 happy ones....anyways... I had a catastrophic fx of my humerus on a Sunday, and the ER referred me to call on Monday Dr. Northrup (he is NOT affiliated with OA of St. Aug). Northrups office said they couldnt see me for multiple days; well that aint gonna work! I then called Orthopaedic Associates of St. Aug and Dr. Sina Kasraeian saw me ASAP at the CR210 location, and he was amazing! (Megan and Trilby at 210 are great too!) My consultation became a relief because I knew I made the right decision. Kasraeian is friendly, THOROUGH, THOROUGH, THOROUGH and a GENIUS. He performed my humerus sx asap for me. What was thought to be a 45 min sx (from looking at radiographs) turned into 4+ hours because my radial nerve was twisted up in my broken bone pieces, and my humerus was damaged much worse than thought. Kasraeian is skilled enough to do something so tedious and not leave me with lasting damage! I received a long plate and 12 screws in my arm, and many many post-op visits, all of which were friendly and informative. One of the multiple breaks would not heal and I required a second sx, which was a bone graft from my hip. Kasraeian did another beautiful job, and I was healed 100% after this. For my PT I saw Tony Collins, and hes also KNOWLEDGABLE and an ASSET! Without Tony, I would not have the supination/pronation/range of motion back in my arm! When there was a billing error that accounts mgr Lynn did not address, Carol corrected it and was very friendly, professional and apologetic. (Note: Lynn is no longer there). Angela is also super friendly. For the year and a half my humerus was treated here, I was truly impressed with how bright Dr. Kasraeian is. When you are broken, pray that he is your orthopedist.

"First, do no harm." Thats the oath I thought doctors lived by, but apparently at Orthopaedic Associates of St. Augustine (OASA), its "First, make some money." I contacted this group almost 2 weeks ago for physical therapy (PT) on a finger that has been hurting since May as the result of an accident. It took me a while at Mayo to work through the diagnostic process, but after myriad appointments and an x-ray and MRI, my Mayo orthopedist wrote an order for PT and suggested I find a certified hand therapist, which I did at OASA. I clearly explained to the OASA phone representative that I had already been through the diagnosis process and only needed PT. She set me up for an appointment that was to take place today. I cant tell you how excited I was this morning to know that I would finally find some help and relief. I arrived at 8:50, went upstairs to PT, but was told to go downstairs to the clinic. After waiting several minutes downstairs, I was given copious amounts of paperwork and at around 9:20, was finally escorted to a patient room, only to find that I would have to go through their diagnostic process before receiving PT! I told them I had a doctors diagnostic report in hand and was never told over the phone that I would have to go through the OASA diagnostic process. I also explained that I had taken the morning off of work AND wasted nearly 2 weeks during which I could have found relief had I been directed properly. The office manager acknowledged their error and apologized, but said they couldnt see me. This very much feels like a bait and switch. Shame on you, OASA, for providing misinformation; for not treating me with care and compassion; and for not doing the right thing when you were at fault. I will never seek the help of your practice again and will warn everyone I can (via word-of-mouth and social media) about how you do business. Shame on you!

Absolutely livid! My experience today was the worst I have ever experienced with any healthcare professional! I waited over an hour for my appointment because the PA was running behind. They took x-rays immediately without even talking to me about my problem. Then the nurse came in, didnt even acknowledge my presence or introduce herself. She asked 2 or 3 simple questions that you could find on the history I filled out, then she left and said the PA would be in shortly. PA came in about 20 minutes later. He looked at my x-rays, asked about my pain and requested to see my MRI. He said he wanted Dr. Stark to look at me. Again, I waited. This time, over 35 minutes. Dr. Stark came in and did the same thing as the PA but this time suggested the MRI was incorrect and suggested I just cope with the pain. He said I could buy a wrist brace and he would give me a Rx for an anti-inflammatory. He works with a physical therapy practice above his office and didnt even suggest it! I asked for a referral to the hand therapist but he said, "I dont know how much she can actually help you." but eventually gave it to me. I knew that there wasnt really anything the surgeon could do for me and all I wanted was referral to physical therapy. Having to ask permission from one doctor to see another doctor is absolutely unacceptable. I wasted 3 hours of my time and who knows how much money, only to have to ask to see someone that can actually help me! The only person who apologized to me for the time wasted was the very nice receptionist... everyone else just didnt care and figured that I was OK with it! SO MAD. This is the exact reason why Physical Therapists need direct access. I should never have had to go to here but I had to in order to see a physical therapist. Absolutely stupid!

I had 3 rotator cuff tears, bicep tenodesis, debridement, compression and most likely every procedure there is to repair my shoulder. I tore 2 tendons 12 years ago that were not repairable at that time. Then 2 years ago, a deck gave way underneath me and did extensive damage to my shoulder. Ive seen several surgeons over the years even going to the Mayo Clinic for their opinion. In all the physicians I consulted, Dr. Volk was the most kind and understanding which mattered greatly to me. The Mayo Clinic agreed they would do the same procedure as Dr. Volk recommended. . Hes exceptionally skilled and with years of experience repairing shoulders, he was the obvious choice for me. If youre reading this to help you make a decision, you are in good hands with Dr. Volk and his surgical center. I am rather stunned reading the reviews here. Its almost as if theyre speaking about a different place than the one I went to. There is one staff member that was difficult but this is a large center and thats not unusual when so much happens daily. But for that one employee, there are a dozen others who helped guide me through a scary surgery; took exceptional care of me in the surgical suite, and the aftercare was thorough and focused. Physical therapy has gone well, too. Im 3 months post op and cant thank Dr. Volk and St. Augustine Orthopaedics enough. I especially thank his PA, Arlo, for always being there and all the staff it takes to bring a patient in, consult, determine surgical procedure, arrange insurance and surgery, manage post op care and physical therapy. You might encounter a bleep in that process because humans have bad days and sometimes the best of systems break down but its the exception not the rule.
