i applaude this clinic for the care of my senior kitties so far. i have been bring my babies to them for about a year. however on my most recent visit i had a senior kitty undergo surgery for an abdominal hernia. there is a high risk i was told because of her age BUT we expect everything will be ok. the cat is 18 years old. everything went fine. i was told she had blood loss and ect... but looked good and was released to come back next day to have a post op evaluation and possibly remove the catheter from surgery. so...she looked fine next day post op but her red blood cell count was 20 and i was told to hang out for 2 hours and bring her back for a recheck of her red blood count. and in the meantime (i was also told) go to the store and get baby food and by the way you need to purchase from us the recovery canned food and force feed her and well recheck her in two hours. i did as told. upon returning to the cat clinic (btw she did appear not well while i did all this) i was told her red blood count had dropped to 19...nothing to be concerned about but they wanted to keep her to do a blood transfusion and fluids...blah blah blah. and oh by the way if she crashes she will be closely monitored and we will take care of her, we have all the necessary emergency equipment to do recovery treatment. my whole beef about this is: first of all why didnt the blood transfusion and supporting treatment and care take place BEFORE my cat had to nearly medically crash. she should never have been sent home in the first place without this vital survival medical treatment. come on...the cat is 18 years old, she lost blood during the surgery, if this had been a senior human this kind of treatment would never have occurred. i think not because us humans have insurance companies and health care guidelines in place to provide the best care possible. ok i know veterinary practices do not have such governing guidelines in place but this is my baby for gods sake. not only was this unnecessary suffering for the animal but my emotional stress was such that i could easily have literally thrown up from all the emotions i was going through. and while im at it, please read up on titer testing for pets as it is starting to be recognized that pets do not need yearly vaccinations. just as human babies are vaccinated only once in their lifetime for major illnesses. i could go into another story from this practice on vaccinating one of my other pets. i am on the look out to find a veterinary practice that has the experience to treat geriatric animals. i do not reccommend this practice.

During our last experience with the Cat Clinic of Woodstock, there were several critical errors made in our cat’s medical care. First, the doctor ordered a urine culture which was never performed. My cat ended up with an obviously stressful UTI and this necessitated another taxing trip to the vet. It was especially traumatic since my cat had to wait hours at the clinic since his bladder was empty and they had to wait till it was full to get a sample. Next, he was prescribed antibiotics, but an incorrect label was put on the bottle and we found that we were incorrectly dosing him. During the course of treatment, we also found that he not only has a heart arrhythmia, he also has a blood clot in his heart. He was prescribed medication for this and had a few bad days, then started to dramatically improve. But within two weeks, he started showing signs of another UTI (presumably because he was not dosed correctly during the original infection). I called the clinic the next morning (Monday) and asked to talk to a doctor. I kept being told they were too busy right now, but was able to get an Rx for a different antibiotic, though I still wanted to discuss my cat’s case with a doctor. I called several times the next two days and was told the same thing. Finally, Tuesday night I get a call, not from a doctor or even a vet tech, but from a clueless administrator that not only could not answer a single question, but also told me that it was the “staff consensus” that my cat was at end of life and I just needed to accept that. Needless to say, I never spoke to a doctor, nor were any of my questions ever answered. Right now, my cat is recovering nicely; he is still eating, he sits in the window in the sun, he sits in our laps. As long as there is still light in his eyes, we will treat him with all the love, respect and dignity he deserves. We know we may not have much longer with him…I don’t need an uncompassionate administrator to tell me that. I can go anywhere to get incompetent care and cold-hearted administrators. We will definitely NOT be driving the extra miles to the Cat Clinic of Woodstock. The busy doctors who couldn’t spare 10 minutes to answer a few questions should be happy to know that they have two less patients to worry about as we have transferred both our cats’ records to a new clinic. Based on this last experience with the Cat Clinic of Woodstock, I would rate this establishment with 0 stars if I could. But to be fair, we have had some good experiences in the past and the facility is nice for cats, so 1 star.

We have had many cats since meeting Dr. Sherry Weaver, DVM, twenty six years ago. We followed her when she set out to start her first practice, (the Animal Hospital of Towne Lake) which later grew to include her feline practice, the Cat Clinic of Woodstock. We wouldnt think of taking our cats anywhere other than the Cat Clinic of Woodstock for their veterinary care. The doctors, technicians, tech assistants, and client support staff are the finest professionals, not to mention compassionate human beings, that we have ever had the honor to know. They love and care for our "Pride" as though they were their own purrbabies. They have celebrated with us when very sick kitties recovered from serious illnesses, and they have cried like babies with us when one of them lost their battle with cancer or a long term illness. And we were proud that our Willow has the honor of being the first Stem Cell Therapy kitty at the Cat Clinic of Woodstock. The services that they provide set them apart from all other feline veterinary practices. We are proud to call them our Veterinarians, our friends, and our family. I highly recommend the Cat Clinic of Woodstock!

Thank you Cat Clinic for finally giving me the answers I needed. My poor little cat had ringworm just days after I adopted him and once that was all over, the day of his checkup appointment we discovered he had 106 degree fever. It stayed persistent for almost two weeks, and my other vet and the emergency vet all told me it would just go away...UGH! The Cat Clinic gave me answers; and while he has a terminal illness and will have to be euthanized, we got answers and they truly took the time to care and were incredibly sweet, attentive, thorough and compassionate. I truly appreciate everything you all do, thank you!
