My dog was diagnosed with a Thyroid tumor, 90% of the time they are malignant. Though we love our regular vets (great staff, fantastic care, and state of the art facility) they knew they werent equipped to handle this type of situation and they referred us to a specialist. We took her to the oncologist they recommended and had the testing done but the quote they gave us for the surgery was more than we could afford. I made several calls to different hospitals and sent several emails trying to get information on on any clinical trials or anything that might help us help her...to no avail. I had left a message at Care Animal Hospital and got a call back Sunday afternoon (never expected a weekend call.) I spoke with Lynda and after some initial conversation we discussed the cost. I almost fell out of my chair; it was within our budget. I had a lot of questions - being the skeptic that I am - and Lynda was very patient and comforting. They were able to get her in that week for the surgery. I went to Care the day before and asked if I could have a tour of the facility - again, being the skeptic that I am - they were very accommodating. The hospital was large, modern, and it was not only well staffed but they were very kind and reassuring, they obviously sensed my anxious state. The surgeons name is Dr. Haase and he was great; he gave details without going overboard and listened intently when we asked questions. I got a call from Dr. Haase in the early afternoon after the surgery letting me know how the surgery went, what he found, and what was done. That night we got another call from him letting us know how she was doing (that was totally unexpected.) I can only write from this one experience with them but we received 5 star treatment from Care Animal Hospital. As funny as is sounds, I felt like I was getting special treatment because I knew someone on the inside and not just a first timer. I found out afterward that two of my co-workers take their pets there and they love the place. As it shows by the length of this review I really cant say enough about this hospital. Note: my dog is doing great!

Dear Management and or Medical Administrators of Animal E.R., I am writing you to inform you about a major concern I have about your facility. June 27, 2011, at about 8PM I brought to your facility a seriously injured animal which I have been taking care of and was turned away. The animal was in mention is is a wild rabbit about 1 month old and has been under the care of a Vet since finding him. Yesterday the rabbit had cut his arm very badly on part of his cage and had been sutured by his normal vet. Later it was found that some of the stitches had come out with underlying tissue exposed. Since my family and friends recomended your facility we came to you. In the words of the vet staff that met us,"Sorry, I cant touch him or Ill lose my license." Without even looking at the rabbit we were sent away without any bit of help or even where we could go for help. This event disturbs me on multiple levels as a medical professional as I have been an ER Nurse for 10 years and an ER Coordinator for 2 years. Never in that time have I seen such an act of negligence. First off, Veteranarians take a similar oath to Doctors and Nurses in which we all swear to," Do no harm," and to," Protect Health and relieve suffering." None of the above was done. I am actually embarrassed that your facility shares a title that likens it to the profession in which I work. Never have I refused a patient anything, especailly life saving treatment. No thanks to the staff at Animal ER, I was able to find a location an hour away who was able to help and fix the sutures. As it may be conveyed in this letter that I am quite upset about my expeience at your facility and it is true. Never again will I bring any animal under my care to your facility. Also, after hearing about this event, I doubt that my immediate friends and family will either.

BEWARE! Care Animal Hospital performed an unauthorized procedure on my iguana. Dr. Nicole Siegel told me my 7 year old iguana just "decided to stop breathing”. A year later they bill me for unauthorized services. Although I normally have preferred veterinarians, due to an evening concern of lethargy, our iguana was brought to the first open veterinarian office. I was quoted a high price for a "C-section", which Dr. Nicole Siegel acknowledged was unusually high due to the time, and stated the pets life would be at risk to wait until normal hours. This is a standard procedure, even Care Animal Hospitals Dr. Nicole Siegel, in writing stated "many captive iguanas require assistance in passing eggs". I paid the requested $1000 in full. I have been raising iguanas for over 20 years, and have experienced many situations, including impacted eggs. Dr. Nicole Siegel herself described the diet and husbandry that I provided my iguana to be "perfect". Despite this, Dr. Siegels, pre-surgery inquiries imposed her views about the need to spay, despite clarification that I wanted her to be able to breed. I got a call from Dr. Siegel that the surgery went fine but at the end she “decided to stop breathing". She elaborated, "We tried to resuscitate for over 40 minutes” and that “It wasnt a complication of the surgery, but rather the anesthesia". I then received a call from Linda, demanding additional fees, when I already paid $1000 in full per their quote. She couldnt even make out the bill. How can they ask for money and not know the charges? She said one was for clean equipment, and another for spaying, a service which was specifically requested to not be performed.

i started going to care 13 years ago when my dog was a pup, they provided me, a new dog owner with much information and piece of mind..oh how things have changed. I brought my dog in at the end of 2009, the vet went down a list of all of the procedures that id have to go though just to find out what was wrong with my dog. Knowing that i am a struggling college student, with no money to spare, id do anything to save my dog. he told me the cheapest test he could run would cost me $300, a cheaper test could be run but would more then likely be unhelpful. He ran though the possibilities of what could be wrong with him and then told me to consider his age and likely lifespan. He warned me that it may be my best option to either pay thousands of dollars to find out what is wrong with him or less to just let them put him down(in either case he offered to help with a payment plan) He watched me sob uncontrollably over my last family member and best friend. Im glad i sought out a second opinion...a different vet looked him over, and took his time, not rushing me out our in a hurry to take my money, he prescribed 2 pills a day for 2 weeks which cost me $50 he took his first that morning and was breathing clear and was back to his old happy self in a day. i guess there is a reason they just call it "Care" now and no longer "loving care" bc there is no love there. (also i tried to get his medical records faxed 3 times, they tried to fax it to my cell phone and every time they left out 3 years of records, were unapologetic about it and i never got them.)
