I December, I was noticing my 23 lb tabby wasnt eating (flashing warning sign #1?!?) and seemed to be in pain while attempting to use his litter box. When I called the answering service, not only did I get an immediate return phone call from Dr. Setlock (who was the kindest, genuine and most professional male veterinarian I had ever spoken to), but I actually received a phone call at 7:30 am the following morning from the clinic, wanting to make sure that Keiko was being helped. I have never seen the clinic dirty or have smelled that "wet dog" odor. Every staff member has always been professional and courteous and believe it or not- PLEASANT! I have never had a problem scheduling an appointment and I have NEVER had to wait more than 10 minutes before any of my animals were seen. In any event, it turned out , as it turned out, Keiko was quite sick and needed surgery on his urethra and he had several bladder stones that needed to be removed. Ruth Helen Wolf was the ONLY clinic that genuinely cared about helping my cat and didnt mention money, fees or costs & charges ONCE! With honesty and candor, I explained to Dr. Herron that I am the sole-single provider of four (4) children and recently started a new job and didnt know how I was going to pay for their services. Dr. Herron, didnt bat a eye and continued to explain every procedure and test that needed to be performed. She was more concerned that my questions were answered and my cats needs were met rather than discussing money, payment plans or credit card applications. Words cannot express how grateful I am to Dr. Herron, because she spent a LOT of time with me and not once did I feel like I was "holding her hostage" or keeping her from her other patients (although I was!). Keiko stayed for 8 days and I was constantly getting warm, positive and loving phone calls from the staff, as they, as well, made sure that I understood Keikos progress and recovery process. I felt 100% confident that my "5th child" was being cared for and most of all, being loved. The staff members would call me to tell me that hat they didnt want to see him go! in conclusion I received a phone call at 9:00 pm from the clinic the night before I was planning on bringing Keiko home and instantly I thought the worst! It was Dr. Herron calling me to tell me that they just had a board meeting and she wanted me to know that it was a unanimous vote to have Keikos medical procedures and medications paid in full from "The Daisy Fund". The Daisy Fund is a charity organization that helps pay/donate funds for families in crisis who are unable cover the medical costs needed to treat their pet. To this day, I am so very grateful for the love and the best-in-class services my loving cat, Keiko received. Thank you to EVERYONE at Ruth Helen Wolf Animal Hospital for all of the love and care we ALL received. TO this day, Keiko is now 19 lbs and healthy and active as ever!

I adopted a young dog from Orphans of the Storm in Riverwoods on 7-14 and I picked up the dog from Wolf Clinic on 7- 17-after his neuter. They told me he was fine and had no problems. They did a heartworm test and told me he was negative. I asked if they gave him a heartgard pill and they said no, good thing I asked. He was still infested with fleas. I was told he was given topical and that he was also given the oral. They congratulated me and sent me on my way. Within about two days they called me to tell me he had a disease related to a tick bite and that they needed more blood. I also told them he still had sores all over his body and was listless. On the drive over, the dog vomited all over the car and also pooped all over the car. They told me it was car sickness! I demanded to see a vet rather than a worthless tech and she never even took the dogs temperature. She looked at his sutures and that was it. I was so upset that I was crying because this dog was so sick and they did not care. They took the blood and guess what??? The clinic called me back AGAIN the next day to go back because they screwed up the sample from the day before! I was livid as I live 45 minutes away and I did not want my dog poked again. I had a friend come with me this time to witness the idiocy and level of ineptness of these people. They told me to come back the next day and I told them I am waiting right there for the blood result because they do it in house. They said that the tick disease was miraculously gone and they gave me Metronidazole for the runs and Cephalexin for the skin. They did no other tests that I was aware of and the vet did not even know how to cut the dogs nails. I offered to pay for it and she said "Just let the shelter pay for everything, and that I was covered for two weeks". Well the dog needed a booster shot and I did not go to the Libertyville clinic because I would not bring a raccoon there and so I went to my vet to get the booster and guess what?!?!?! the dog has Coccydia!!!! Wolf Clinic did not detect this??? I feel that Wolf Animal Clinic owes me the charge of the booster and the fecal exam and meds because they screwed up big time! AND all of this has happened within the two week time period. Wolf is is joke! Did they ever even do a fecal exam? I called Orphans of the Storm to let them know this all was happening but they did not seem to really care too much and just told me write this review.

Dr Setlock and his team are a phenomenal group of professionals that provide exceptional veterinary care. They have been my pets medical home since 2001 - and I would never go anywhere else. The receptionists, vet techs, and docs all go out of their way to ensure my furry friends remain in good health. They are thorough and careful with their diagnosis; when our pets are sick and in need of treatment, the most effective and humane treatment is provided. Their care is delivered with patience, kindness, and compassion. Dr Setlock has often gone above and beyond for my beloved animals. All have shared and been witness to my smiles and joys of adopting a new pet, healthy check ups, injuries and sick visits, senior years and senior moments, to the heartbreaking tears and sorrow of saying goodbye. I wouldnt want to share that with any other vet clinic. I cannot thank him and his team enough. They are extraordinary.

I took a stray cat in and I called their office the following day to see if i could get in for rabies shot and tests and they fit me in that day. the prices they quoted me over the phone were exactly what i was charged. I was very impressed at the office how nice it was the girls at the front desk were so nice, and the doctor setlock was the nicest man, so gentle with my lil terrified kitty. he even had a scrape from my kitty it looked bad and i felt terrible but he said its nothing hes not used to. i would absolutely recommend them. i love places that go above and beyond this is one of them. I will go back there.
