They will borderline abuse your animal. And by borderline, I mean I called the police and they said that only because I didnt PHYSICALLY SEE them harm my animal, they couldnt do anything. Do NOT take your pet here. If you love animals, even one iota, do not support these people. I had my dog spayed here, and they still used UN-ABSORBABLE STITCHES, which one of the vets (who doesnt speak competent English) seemed to have no idea about, and the other vet (who also didnt speak competent English) seemed to think it was the norm. I called three other vets in the area and each one of them was in shock that anywhere still used regular stitches, as they stopped using them between 4-10 YEARS AGO. The refused to even let me SEE my dog until AFTER they received payment in full, and what do you know? The second I signed their receipt, they finally brought my dog out. I had asked five times previously just to see her. "Oh shes still getting ready" "oh hes going to bring her up in just a second". Ha. They just knew that the second I saw her, they wouldnt get payment. They SCALDED my dogs nose with a cauterizing tool during surgery (to the point you can see the pink on a black dogs nose), and when I questioned the vet about it, he wouldnt even look me in the face. He tried to say "she must have scraped her nose when she was scratching herself in her cage after surgery". Then acted like a hero because they were going to "put some ointment on it" for "no charge". But what was the most upsetting and cruel, was that they didnt even use gauze to wrap her poorly stitched incision. They. Used. TAPE. Just tape. A 2" by 3" bandaid on the actual cut, and tape on her skin, in her fur, wrapped SO TIGHTLY I couldnt even get a finger under it. Unless your money can bring your pet back to life after putting them in the hands of these a**holes, take it somewhere else. They dont deserve to have a license or even be around animals. They dont even give you care instructions when they send your animal home. They just want your money. Ive filed a police report and theyve gone and spoken with the place, but unfortunately theres nothing they can do and have advised me to take her to another vet to document and then get an attorney. I will have that place shut down, so help me. PS, the majority of the over three-star google reviews are from spam accounts and fake profiles. They made those themselves.

First time ever visiting this place today, and was not impressed in the least bit! So, a little bit of a background on me. I was a vet tech for 15 years and have worked at several different facilities in the Chicago suburbs. I juyst recently moved to the city, and I hadnt found a vet yet. I came here because my 8 year old husky has been limping, and its getting worse. My first impression walking through the door is that it smelled like urine. Not fresh urine, but stale urine that wasnt cleaned up well. I brought records, but was told the doctor would ask for them if they needed them. I didnt have to wait long to see the doctor. He came out and asked if I would walk my dog down the hallway (tightest hallway ever, and it didnt help that bags of food were in the way!). Then, I went in the room, where the doctor (Dr. Basran) told me it looked like my dog was putting full weight on his right rear. Well, duh. Hes excited. Full weight does not equal no limp, either. He did no exam and said in order to do x-rays, they have to sedate my dog because they have to place him on his back. Mind you, I did tell the doctor I was a vet tech for 15 years. Im not stupid. You dont have to sedate a dog to put it on its back, unless you dont know what you are doing. I had to ask for bloodwork since he was saying the only way to examine my dog was to "sedate" him (really, full blown anesthesia. There is a difference.). In the end, I left paying $108 for bloodwork, and no exam, and my dog is still limping in pain. I was told I had to bring him back another day on no food (I fed him in the morning, and happened to have time to take him in.) They are walk in only, even for surgical procedures and procedures requiring anesthesia. Weird. I would think you schedule that and make sure owners know the proper before care for that. Anyway, I wont be going back. My poor dog just stood against the door, petrified even though no one was touching him. Not my dogs normal attitude at all! I think he got a bad vibe, too.....

Ohhhh yeahhh, THAT guy. Im browsing for a vet at the moment and was reminded of just how bad this place was. I had the misfortune of trusting the positive rating last time, so heres my two cents: My young cat has a "mysterious issue" that causes her to pee blood. After visiting half a dozen different vets (this one included) it was determined (by a completely different, very seasoned and kindly old vet out in Joliet) that she has a condition that causes her bladder to not produce enough mucous on her bladder walls, which results in her being highly susceptible to contract UTIs. A non-invasive test was then performed by the Joliet vet by collecting a sample of urine, everything was incredibly low-cost. The Joliet vet cleverly prescribed a medication that has a side-effect of increasing said mucous, which did end up correcting the problem for a year or more. It was a bit of an outside-the-box approach, and it worked. As for this particular doctor on Milwaukee, I did track her symptoms, do thorough research, and provided the information from other vets which would help to eliminate any possible variables, but this doctor disregarded everything I brought to the table. He handled my cat roughly, and insisted on doing expensive x-rays to rule out the possibility of bladder stones (which had already been ruled out). In the end, he was unable to do anything at all, while I got shafted with a massive bill. As for mannerisms, he was curt and a bit condescending to myself as well as other women I saw him interact with-- a stark contrast to any men he interacted with. It may very well be just a cultural thing, but is still unprofessional.

Its totally ridiculous that this place has such a low rating. If you need a fancy building with perky, and nice receptionists then this probably isnt the place for you. But if you are looking for a no frills animal hospital with good and more than fair doctors with the occasional disinterested receptionist then check out this place. I had to take in my two cats before to get checked out for worms, the Dr did not charge me an office visit he only charged me for the meds. Another time I took my possibly pregnant cat into to terminate the pregnancy and get spayed, and they refunded me the price of terminating the pregnancy because when they cut her open she was in fact not pregnant. Now would I have ever known that... no? They could have totally ripped me off and I wouldnt have had a clue. The spay went well, no hitches, and I would most definitely take my cats back there again. In this economy when even the human health care industry is suffering (my hospital has laid close to 500 people in the last year) I know that animal health care has to be taking some hits too. So the fact that they delivered quality care at a reasonable price and then some is awesome in my books. So yes, its not pretty inside, and the office crew isnt the friendliest, but if you can get past this I would highly recommend Logan Square Animal Hospital. Also the no appointment thing works out very well, Ive rarely had to wait longer than 10-15 minutes each time I go which is more than I can say for my doctor who makes have an appointment!
