Ive tried four or five practitioners over about as many years. Appointments start on time and are leisurely. The doctors are friendly, but Im hard-pressed to say that they deliver care thats in my best interests. I think its crucial to be able to trust your primary care team to understand your health and to make sound recommendations. I havent gotten that from One Medical Group. For example, I saw something about taking magnesium on Pinterest and I asked Dr. Xenos about it. Rather than simply saying yes or no based on her own examinations of me and my family health history, she referred me to a cardiologist. Nearly $1,000 later, I learned that my heart is in excellent condition and that I can disregard what I saw on Pinterest. Um... why couldnt my primary health-care provider tell me that? Dr. Xenos also had me schedule (and pay for) about three appointments before she would sign the medical waiver for an REI Grand Canyon trip I wanted to do. In other words, thats about $300 and three hours of my time to get her to sign a form that I emailed to her. Mr. Watt (PA-C) prescribed prednisone for a rash I got from a spray tan. It temporarily relieved my symptoms only to have it flare up worse a week later. I learned from another practitioner at One Medical that prednisone wasnt the best course of action. Still, I ended up having two appointments at One Medical followed by referrals (and appointments) with an allergist and dermatologist to get to the bottom of this rash. Thats four appointments, a prescription and about $400. Dr. Kapur was the final doctor I saw at One Medical. I saw him for an annual exam where I asked about my knees. Ive had problems with my knees since college and have been thoroughly examined, diagnosed and treated with physical therapy. I wanted a doctors note to allow me to wear gym shoes when standing up at work. Dr. Kapur shocked me by suggesting a brand new diagnosis that involved doing blood-work. After the blood-work was done and came back fine, I found out that he ASSUMED that I had a health history of low vitamin D (which has never been the case). It was crazy. That blood-work cost over $300. I am holding up these examples to you because I am a healthy person. I dont have any serious health concerns and I lead a healthy lifestyle. I should only have to see a doctor once or twice a year. I should be able to ask my doctors to sign medical waivers so that I can go on hiking trips. I should be able to ask my doctors about silly things I see online and they should be able to tell me if it applies to me or not. They should be able to properly guide me to continued good health without gouging my bank account or making more dates on my calendar than some of my friends.

I used to work for a large, traditional healthcare system. When I first heard about membership-based medical practices, I thought they sounded pretty fancy, but not something I would ever be able to afford. However, when I had the opportunity for a free one-year membership to One Medical Group, I thought it would be a great opportunity to check it out for myself! (Plus I no longer work for a healthcare system, so no conflicts for me there.) I was able to easily sign up for the membership online and book my first appointment (my annual check-up). When I needed to re-schedule, I was easily able to do so, online, for the following week. My appointment was for 8am (so I could get in and out before work). All of the staff I encountered (receiptionist, physician, lab tech) were very friendly. I arrived a little early, and didnt have to wait long before meeting with Dr. Boyd. She was extremely friendly and informative. We went over my medical history, discussed things that needed discussing, and then did the physical exam. She had a very nice bedside manner. I felt very comfortable during the entire visit. I needed to have some lab work done (blood, urine and a tetanus shot), which I was able to do on-site immediately following my visit with Dr. Boyd, and the tech was good - I had minimal discomfort. And I was still able to get to work on time (actually early). After, I received my results (by mail I believe) pretty quickly. Overall, I am extremely pleased with One Medical Group and will be happy to use them for my medical needs (or referrals).

I was actually looking for an urgent care facility and found One Medical Group located in the Loop, which is in walking distant from work. I called their office and explain my issues and was given an appointment the same day. The receptionist was very informative about their practices and eager to answer anything I asked. The doctor, Veena Korah, was excellent in my view! I have been looking for a physician who can do majority of the exams I need without having to go all so many other physicians or specialists. GREAT!!!!! She is able to take of my needs. The membership is covered by FSA and knowing I can communicate via e-mail with my physicians, make an appointment on-line, and have vitals/issues (minor illnesses e.g., sinus, cold, UTI, etc.) taken via telephone without going to the doctors office and the prescription sent to your pharmacy, I was totally out done. I am telling my co-workers and friends about this group.

My review as also seen on Yelp: I have a practice that I like as well as a doctor however it is often difficult to get an appointment and at times I have had to settle for the nurse practitioner. (sigh) I booked a next day "urgent care" appointment and I was greeted with a smile and before my scheduled time! Dr. Boyd was lovely, very approachable and informed me of some things happening as it related to new findings (read: when to get a mammogram and how often). I was incredibly pleased and at some point will be returning. Thankfully I am in good health and dont often have the need but one never does know and Im excited I was introduced to the One Medical office.

The Doctors, Physician Assistants, and staff are all very friendly and helpful. I know someone else said this but they really have put the "care" back in medical care. I am always impressed at how I fell like I am being treated as a human not a set of symptoms. And you cant beat being able to get an appointment the same day you call in (or at least within a few days). Also, I love the atmosphere of the office; it reminds me of a friends apartment, relaxed and comfortable not like a stuffy doctors office.

I have looked at a number of medical clinics like this, the ones that have an annual fee, and this one was great. Super friendly--from the person scheduling my appointment, to the doctor. Dr. Korah gave my daughter excellent treatment and care. She was professional, kind and willing to ask all the questions necessary and take the time to get the information needed to diagnose her condition. The cost isnt too bad, and I will continue to have my kid see Dr. Korah as needed.

Super professional - some of the best medical support Ive received anywhere! Ive talked with nurses on the phone before or after appointments to check in and have received very thorough, responsive advice. You can even email doctors directly! Ive seen Helen, one of the primary care doctors, and she is wonderful - thorough, patient, welcoming, professional. They put a lot of caring back in medical care in my experience.
