BEWARE AT ALL COST!!!!!! NOT ONLY ARE THEY IN IT FOR THE MONEY THEY WILL CHARGE YOU FOR SERVICES THAT YOU DO NOT GET. I WENT THERE TO SEE ABOUT GETTING GLASSES THEY RAN MY INSURANCE AND GOT ME A PRICE ON THE PAIR I PICKED OUT. AFTER INSURANCE IT WAS GOING TO BE $185. I DECIDED TO NOT TO GET THEM BECAUSE I WANTED TO SHOP AROUND. I WENT TO AN EYE CARE BY MY WORK AND FOUND THE SAME GLASSES AND IT WAS ONLY GOING TO BE $25.00 OUT OF POCKET WITH MY INSURANCE. SO I DECIDED I COULD DO BETTER THAN THAT. THE THEN TOLD ME THAT THE INSURANCE WAS SAYING I HAVE ALREADY USED MY BENEFITS FOR THE YEAR. I CALL THEM AND THEY TOLD ME I HAD BOUGHT GLASSES AT VZN EYE CARE. I TOLD THEM THAT WAS CRAZY BECAUSE I TOLD THEM I WANT TO SHOP AROUND FIRST. THE LADY ON THE PHONE DID SOME RESEARCH AND IT TURNS OUT I WAS NOT THE FIRST PERSON FOR THIS TO HAPPEN TO ACTUALLY THEY DO THIS ALL THE TIME AND THERE ARE REPORTS OF INSURANCE FRAUD FILED AGAINST THEM. MY HUSBAND ON THE OTHER HAND HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM HE WENT TO SEE ABOUT GETTING CONTACTS OUT OF POCKET. THEY HAD HIM SIT DOWN AND THEY DID A COUPLE OF TRIAL PAIRS ON HIM AND TOOK SOME MEASUREMENTS AND HE WAS HAPPY WITH THE SERVICE HE ASKED THEY LADY HOW MUCH IT WOULD BE TO GET THE CONTACTS SHE TOLD HIM THE CONTACT WOULD BE $60 FOR A MONTH. HE SAID OK HE WOULD LIKE TO GET THEM SHE TYPE SOMETHING ON THE COMPUTER AND TOLD HIM HIS TOTAL WAS $260. WHAT SHE NEVER TOLD HIM WAS THE SERVICE CHARGE OF THE TRAIL PAIR WAS $200. SO HE TOLD HER HE COULD NOT PAY THAT AND THAT SHE SHOULD HAVE TOLD HIM THAT BEFORE DO ANYTHING TO HIM. SO SHE WENT AND GOT A MAN FROM THE BACK WHO BASICALLY TRIED TO BULLY HIM IN TO PAYING. THE MAN EVEN TRIED TO BLOCK THE DOOR. TWO WEEKS LATER WE RECEIVED A BILL IN THE MAIL FOR THE $260.OO. WE ARE PROBABLY GOING TO BE CALLING OUT LAWYER ABOUT THIS.

I went to VZN because they were conveniently located for me and accepted Medicaid. They will indeed run every test that is covered and offer more that are not covered (the copay is quite reasonable). I found out that there were things wrong with my eyes that I had no idea were a problem! I have to say that my dry eyes have improved - and that I have been able to find some medications (not as potent) in drugstores that VZN claims can only be bought there. One of the treatments (punctal plugs) may have caused more infection - and understandably are no longer covered by Medicaid. So its kind of trial and error. They have softened their approach since I first started going there. I once ordered reading glasses and got a prescription for distance vision. Clearest distance vision Ive ever had but not what I needed. VZN made reading glasses at their cost. Another time I made a bad review because the optometrist (and, yes, other reviews are accurate that he can be pushy) tried to sell me some computer glasses when I complained that progressives just werent working right. Turns out he was just bragging - and for good reason. He ended up making me some AMAZING computer glasses - he really knows what hes doing - for free. If he could learn some customer etiquette he could save himself a lot of trouble. My progressives still dont sit right on my face (optometrist once came within a hairs breadth of telling me theyd look better if I used tweezers on my eyebrows - "You have to use the..."). So: all in all its a mixed bag. Excellent eye care - possibly more than you want - and friendly service - but you have to stand up for what you want.

Best optometrist and glasses center Ive been to in Chicago. The entire staff is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, and the doctor was also skilled and nice and answered all my questions. While youre picking out your glasses, if you have any questions, just ask Alex or any of the other wonderful staff members. They really know their stuff. UPDATE: (Jan. 4, 2016) This is a new update for my previous review above. I was having some issues with my new glasses so I took them back and was really taken care of in a wonderful way. Alex kept reassuring me that they would find a solution and that there was nothing to worry about. Right away, that put me at ease. Dr. Vlada then did a follow-up exam to see if there was anything that the other doctor missed during my last eye exam. She was very thorough and this impressed me since I also have a meticulous personality and I dont like it when doctors rush or dont take the time to explain things to me. After the follow-up exam, Dr. Vlada adjusted my prescription a little bit and Alex also found some problems with my new glasses due to a mistake made by the lens lab that my insurance uses. They sent it back to be fixed, and now I dont have to worry about my new glasses because I know I am in good hands. I cant say enough just how much I love this business. They make you feel like an appreciated customer. As long as I live in Chicago I will always, always go to VZN for my exams and glasses.

BEWARE! DO NOT GO HERE! They are ONLY in it for the money. They try to charge you extra for unnecessary tests. When I asked to see glasses for my 6 year old covered by our insurance (instead of the ones they were trying to upsell me) they handed me a jumbled tray and told me to search through to find the kids glasses. When I go to pick up her ordered glasses, I call ahead and ask for her prescription including pupil distance. They say no, problem and itll be ready when I get there. I get there, no pupil distance. When I ask for it, they say they need to do a special test at an extra charge. WHAT? I have her prescription glasses in my hand and you need to retest her? Either they are handing out faulty prescriptive glasses or scamming people for extra money. When I called them out on it, a man came from the back and loomed over me bullying me and telling me I needed to respect them as medical professionals. I responded that it is not disrespectful to call them out from trying to scam people. Then he sent me another intimidating text BREACHING MY CONFIDENTIAL PERSONAL INFORMATION! BE CAREFUL. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS SHADY BUSINESS!

I have been going to Dr. Nahklis for several years, and appreciate the excellent care, the friendly staff, and the willingness of everyone at the practice to answer all of my questions. Dr. Nahklis is incredibly knowledgable and extremely thorough, and she always has time to explain every aspect of the treatments being recommended. When she recommended punctal plugs earlier this year, I was worried about the possibility that it wouldnt work for me. She placed temporary plugs in my ducts to give me a chance to see if they would work for me, and then let me decide. Ive had two sets of plugs placed (because they dissolve after a few months), and they have definitely made a positive difference in my eyesight and comfort. I cant say enough nice things about this practice and all the people who work there! I appreciate everything they do, and I look forward to my next appointment!
