Due to moves and job changes/insurance changes Ive taken my one year old to four different pediatricians. Dr. Karna was by far the worst weve been to. My baby was terrified of her and the stethoscope. I get that Dr. Karna has no control over what my baby is scared of, but once baby started crying Dr. Karna became brisk and impatient; she didnt try a single thing to make baby girl feel comfortable with her. She was immediately impatient with her and kept forcing the stethoscope on her. When I tried calming baby down, Dr. Karna acted as though I was spoiling my baby and said something akin to, "Well I cant do my job if you dont hold her still." So I strong-armed her the entire time. NOT the type of response Id expect from a pediatrician. After that, Dr. Karna couldnt seem to leave fast enough. She was at the door trying to leave before Id asked her a single question. (As a first time mom I have a lot of questions and wanted expert medical advice.) I tried one question, which was met with a curt reply as she stood half way out the door. I didnt bother with any more. Not only did she fail to address my concerns, she spent minimal time examining my baby and asking (trivial) questions about her -- never asking for elaboration or clarification. She did not ask a SINGLE question about development. How on earth Dr. Karna has returning patients in beyond me. She lacked patience, compassion, professionalism, discretion, and was altogether completely unhelpful. I wish I could afford to take my baby in for a re-do well-baby appointment somewhere else. Alas, I am stuck with google until the next insurance-covered well baby visit. Heaven help me. (One star for friendly office staff and getting in quickly. Both things I would gladly trade in for a long, productive, helpful meeting THAT IM PAYING FOR with the pediatrician.)

Im not sure how someone could have a bad experience with Dr. Karna. It must have really been a busy or off day. (In response to the bad review) I have always thought she was very kind and patient. She is very gentle and sweet and caring. My son likes her a lot, you can tell because he is always very calm in the office. She is very direct and to the point so perhaps this was perceived as being short but she just will tell you like it is. I didnt give 5 stars because I feel that the only area of inprovement could be if Dr. asked more questions. I think she doesnt because she can assess a childs overall health and development through her exam but as a first time mom sometimes you dont know what questions to ask so it helps to have someone who is very detailed but again I think this is simply because she can see if there are any problems through examination and growth charts. If not, why make mom worry about another silly thing?? I started bringing my son to her at 1 week old and plan to continue. We have had no issues with appointments or staff either. They are great!

Words can’t describe how amazing this pediatrician is. She’s patient, kind, loves her job & flexible to name a few great qualities. I feel “safe” with her and respect her fully. She never makes me feel “silly” for asking a question (I’m a first time momma). I strongly recommend Dr. Karna to anyone looking for an amazing pediatrician. Our children are most precious gifts, and with Dr. Karna you will feel completely satisfied and in great hands. I really lucked out finding her!
