Yes, its a long one. Billing is the reason for my score and I honestly wish I could rate a zero score. My husband had been referred to a program that is offered by Central DuPage hospital. Although the same non surgical weightloss program, or ones similar, are offer at other hospitals we chose to go through CDH for very specific reasons. The most important reason was that our insurance was accepted, or so we were told multiple times from the staff at CDH. My husband and I thought we did our due-diligence by making sure to verify that our insurance Blue Cross Choice PPO was accepted. We confirmed 3 separate times with 3 different individuals before my husband started services only to receive an outrageous bill a month later. Needless to say we were furious about the bill but also freaked out b/c the services we did have to be repeated monthly per the requirement for the program. We immediately called billing to discuss the issue and we were immediately told that they did not take our type of insurance. WHAT!?!?! After checking 3 times before services started??? The rep said the bill wasnt final and they were still talking to the insurance company about the bill and we should wait to get the final bill. She told me not to worry that she was handling it. after a month we received more bills and we still had not received word about a final bill or status of the negotiations with BCBS. In the meantime we called BCBS and they said they were willing to cover 50% but it was up to the hospital if they were going to accept it or not. We decided to call again to get updated about the situation. This time we spoke with Fabiola. She said that the bill was finalized and we did owe the full about. We couldnt believe what we were hearing. We explained that we initially were told multiple times that there wouldnt be a problem with our coverage. She said she understood but it sounded like she didnt care at all. She offered us a payment plan and we immediately asked for the call to be escalated. This needed to be resolved. She said she would get back in contact with us about the escalation. She did follow up 2 days later, which we were grateful for, but she then said the supervisor reviewed everything and confirmed we did owe the full amount. This was unacceptable. We then asked to speak with the supervisor personally but were told he/she was not available and she would have them call us when they became available. No one called us back. We called 3 days later to speak with the supervisor and resolve the issue. We were connected to another rep who kept saying the same things and talked about client responsibility and that we should have checked with our insurance company. We asked the hospital! The source! We couldnt believe that they werent taking any responsibility for the situation. We demanded to speak to the supervisor and the rep said again that they were unavailable and I had to wait for a call back. We felt like we were getting the run around and the reps were getting ruder and ruder every time we called. Almost to the point of being insulting. The only resolution they ever offered was a payment plan if we couldnt pay it all. We gave up and hung up with the rep after they would not connect us to the supervisor and kept repeating that it was our responsibility. Again, we were given incorrect information and made our decision to partake in services based on that information. We ended up using other facilities for bloodwork in the meantime but my husband is still required to have monthly appointments. 3 days later we get a call/voicemail from the supervisor, on a different line than we asked to be called on, saying we asked a supervisor to call and we have payment plans available and to call to set something up. I broke down and my husband didnt know what to say. This has been by far the worst experience with a hospital or medical facility we have ever experienced. We are going to have to pay thousands of dollars for a mistake made by the staff of CDH. Fair? No. Its criminal.

I had what is to be my last child here and out of the 4 different hospitals I delivered at this was the worst! We did have some good nurses, but the majority were rude and they put my babys security tag on so tight it cut his ankle and he was bleeding! In the 3 days I was there the only good nurses we had was the first one and last 2. I also have hypothyroidism and one of the nurses discontinued the medication I am supposed to take daily. Lucky for me I keep my medication on me so I didnt miss taking it and it only took 2 days for one of the nurses to catch this error!! We were also told we were going to be discharged and due to lack of communication had to stay another day! The list goes on with comments and what seemed to be on going lack of communication the whole time. This is my last child I will be having due to getting tubal ligation surgery and they ruined the whole experience of bringing my baby into this world! I was in tears I was so upset and never wanted to get out of a place as bad as this hospital! I will never recommend this hospital and will never go back!

We had our second baby here a couple weeks ago. I can honestly say there is no other place I would ever have a baby. The level of care you receive from the nurses, doctors, lactation consultants, etc, is beyond superior. Our nurse, Shannon, from labor and delivery actually stayed past her shift in order to be there when our baby was born. This made us feel like we were more than just patients. The other labor and delivery nurse, Tricia, was amazing as well. She took great care of us before we were transferred to the mother/baby floor. We had several nurses take care of us over the 2 days we were there. Laura, Lauren, Susan, Tia, and Anne Marie were all wonderful! They were all so helpful and had great senses of humor. This place feels more like a hotel than a hospital. They have 24 hour valet parking, in-room dining service, and beautiful modern rooms. If youre trying to decide where to have your baby definitely take a tour of this hospital!

They claim to be one of the best hospitals in the USA. After several visits with my elderly (in their 80s) parents, I have to agree without hesitation. Everyone... and I mean everyone ... was very compassionate and understanding. From the reception in the ER, to the ER nurses and doctors, to the asstants and nurses on the room floors, they were kind, friendly and knowledgeable. Its sad to say, but the elderly often get marginalized and not taken seriously. Its particularly bad when you have to deal with large institutions. Not the case at CDH. I was amazed at the respect they gave to my parents EACH TIME we went to CDH. They listened to their concerns and fully answered their questions. I can not more highly recommend this hospital. I will go out of my way to go there.

I own a healthcare company that fits right within the service footprint and market demographic of Central DuPage Hospital(CDH). Based on receiving their discharged patients, and taking treatment orders from CDH attending Doctors, we know great healthcare when we see it. This hospital, from the board room all the way to their home health agency in the home consistently strives for the best of healthcare, and the lives of their patients prove it. Their standards are high, and as result they are hard on themselves as they continuously improve. Their management is talented and patient service oriented. Our organization has learned much from the high standards of CDH and our central and western DuPage suburbs are fortunate to have them as our primary healthcare center.
