DR EDELSON IS THE ONLY REASON FOR THE 2 ⭐️S. He is an ER Dr. who makes the entire department look bad. My neurologist sent me to the ER on a Sunday evening. He called ahead and Dr Edelson answered. He told him he would like an MRI, to get my pain under control, to try and figure out why I was experiencing some symptoms & that I was not just there just to seek pain meds. I had been experiencing full body pins and needles sensation and severe neck pain. A week and a half earlier I had gotten an epidural in my neck that was supposed to help my chronic pain, but it brought on the pins and needles and more pain. I have a lot of hardware in my neck after a 4 level cervical fusion and 5th level discectomy 18 months ago. My husband talked to my neurologist while I was back in the ER and he re confirmed that he told Dr. Edelson he wanted an MRI ordered to see if anything changed from the last one a year ago. He also wanted pain meds ordered to make me comfortable. I wish I could give a higher rating because after my WONDERFUL nurse, Christa, checked me in, From the hallway I heard "Are you the girl Dr. Santwani ordered the MRI on?". I said yes. The nurse told me it was dr Edleson. He told me he ordered the MRI and he walked away. No physical examination, didnt ask me why I was there, nothing. I came back from my MRI and about 10 minutes later he appeared in the doorway again. He told me in a condescending voice that the MRI came back the same as the last one so hell have the nurse get me "the pain meds I came in here for and get me home." I asked him what could be wrong with me and what he was talking about. He just kind of repeated what he said before. He would get me my pain meds I was asking for because my MRI was the same and nothing was wrong. Still standing outside of my room in a condescending voice. Never examined me. Never asked me why I was there. I asked him if It could be my nerve damage? He was clueless what I was talking about. I asked him about an allergic reaction, I asked him question after question. I asked him if I should continue taking a certin medication, he had no idea what I was talking about because he didnt have my chart nor did he ever read it. I kept asking him questions and he kept blowing them off. Do you want to know when he did come in to the room and his personality changed in to a nice person who asked questions.....when he saw that I had on an Apple i watch!!!! He was thinking about getting one so he came in to my room so he could see my watch. This man has no business being a Dr. here. Shame on him for not stepping in to a patients room to care about her health but will to care about her watch!!! After that, when I asked if there was anything else he could do he told me I was lucky because 8 years ago I wouldnt have even gotten an MRI. I asked him if he was going to look and listen to me. From the safety of the hallway he asked me "What am I supposed to do at 11:30 on a Sunday night?" And he left!!!! This doctor never once examined me. Didnt listen to me. He treated me like a peice of dirt and told the nurse to discharge me. Luckily the nurses are so compassionate of my feelings and the next doctor on shift is so compassionate of my feelings. I gave Delnor 2 stars because of Dr. Edelson. The nurse briefly told the next shift APN Brian Johnson what happened because then he came in and actually examined me and listened to me. He didnt discharge me right away. He did what doctors are supposed to do, sit down and examine their patients and listen to them. He ordered fluids and gave me pain meds and Zofran for my nausea. 5 stars for the nurses and Brian. 1 star for Dr. Edelson who made me feel like less than a person, and who stood in the doorway to treat me. Shame on you Dr. EdeIson, I hope you read this and never, ever treat a person like this again.

Most of the negative reviews Ive read are for absolutely ridiculous reasons. Not to toot my own horn, but this may be the most important review of this hospital anywhere on the internet. My mother was first admitted in 2011, we found out it was acute kidney failure due to the side effects of opiate-based pain medications.. namely morphine which she was prescribed. It was a horrifying experience to say the least, but the staff there helped her come back from the brink. I could go on, but I know that at other hospitals, she wouldnt be around right now. In 2015 she was admitted again, this time for a MAJOR bowel blockage. Shes a tiny person, and I was told that normally its a simple fix but because of her size and how weak she was, that she was inoperable. They gave her a 50/50 chance to make it. Again, she beat the odds and made it out alive. In April of 2017 she was admitted with human metapneumovirus and had a fever of 103. She normally runs one degree cold normally so a fever that high for a women aged 68 with COPD, scoliosis, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, degenerative disc disease and several other health problems, its usually all but a death sentence. During this visit, her oxygen saturation plummeted to levels that a healthy, younger person would have a rough time surviving, and I was told both times to prepare for the worst. She fought and fought for two weeks, and with help from the incredible staff, namely Dr. Gordy, Dr. Bernhardt and ALL the nurses, she was released and went on to rehab This very moment, May 8th, 2017 at approx 3pm CST, my mother is once again in Delnor. She has pneumonia in both lungs. Im hopeful shell make it out again, but the reality is that she may not with advanced COPD. But I know shes in the right place and I can take solace from that. There is nowhere else in the world I would ever go after my mother literally cheated death here on three occasions. The Mayo Clinic could be across the street from my house and Id still drive the 15 minutes down Randall Road to go back. You dont leave one star reviews for a billing problem. And I dont know how anyone could say that there isnt a square inch of this hospital (and I know it very, very well) that isnt absolutely sterile. If youre in a situation where youre like me and the person you love the most, even more than you love your own self is sick or hurt, please take them to Delnor. Youll be glad you did.

I would not recommend this hospital to anyone. I cannot stand Delnor Hospital in Geneva, Il, The nurses tried to keep my Grandma for an extra day just to meet a Medicare threshold of 3 midnights in a row or some other silly formula. They were going to release her to rehab yesterday afternoon, to strengthen her arms and legs...but she was in for a hairline fracture to her neck. Since being admitted to the ER, the only thing they did for her neck was to put on a brace. No prescription meds, no traction or back brace. (She walked into the ER under her own power.) So then they would not release her to me, because they said she was too weak. BS. You put a Kitkat in front of her, which we did at the hospital, and she jumps up and comes to life. I am disgusted with the nurses who left my grandma in her own feces while they tried to figure out ways to keep her. They tried to declare her mentally unfit so they could keep me from taking her home. But I already have power of attorney - which they did not want to honor. The nurse complained about the POA form, as if she were some attorney herself. She was just an idiot trying to milk the system by using my Gram as a cash cow. Plain and simple. The only time we got any attention was when, after 3 hours, I finally grabbed a wheelchair to use to take my Gram to the car. Then the nurse proceeded to follow us about 5 paces behind. She was more concerned about the chair than my grandmother. My 92 year-old grandma does not need to stay in a hospital that ties her down for her own safety, just so they can have her stretch some rubber bands twice a day to improve arm strength. Ridiculous. Tonight my gram is home sleeping in her own bed. 6/01/04 This is a follow up. One WEEK after being admitted we still have not heard from a doctor even once. We do not have the results from her urinalysis or blood work done in the ER. DO NOT GO TO DELNOR HOSPITAL!
