I have been using HRH since the day I was born there 48 years ago. It used to "Treat People Better", even though lots of people did not like it, I had always had a wonderful experience. Until the new CEO took over. And slowly, as money is wasted buying new shirts, new logo, etc...new landscaping, etc...Then I had to take my husband to the ER this Thursday night who has only been to an ER 2x in 30 years. We arrived by ambulance on July 13th at 10:30pm to wait in the hall so the medical assistant could change the sheets on the bed in the Peds room we were given that was about as big as my bathroom. I was left to sit in a hard chair for 12 hours with no sleep. The ER was not busy and the staff stated so, yet we went hours without ever being checked on. A drunk, belligerent man was put in the much bigger room next to ours that had just been arrested and was transported by a Sheriff. I can tell you everyone down the hall heard his entire story along with every cuss word invented because they left his door open. If anyone wanted to rest, that wasnt happening. He was actually charged with disorderly conduct while we were there, I know this because we could hear every word. Around 3am after receiving pain meds, and epidural in his back , a steroid orally, and much more- they wanted to release us. At this point, my husband could STILL not sit up, walk, or roll over. And there was no way i couldve gotten him in my vehicle to drive 5 minutes home. Yet I was told that we could be transported home by ambulance and have a Home Based PT come work with him. Not sure who was going to take him to the bathroom unless the PT was going to stay with us? I asked why we could not be admitted and was told ER Doctors and even his Primary Care HRH Doctor did not have "Admitting Privileges". Only the Hospitalist who has never seen my husband in his life. After continuing to press, because they still werent "for sure" what caused my husband to be in such back pain when he moved at 5am, they ordered a CT scan. At that point they found a bulged disc as well, and allowed us to stay in the ER until PT could come up after 8am, as long as they didnt get full. This used to be the small town, do things right-not "I cant because of "policy" hospital. The hospital was not full on beds and we even offered to pay out of pocket. I can tell you now, after 48 years-we are looking for new doctors and a new hospital. We know it isnt the ER Doctor or Primary Care Dr.s fault, however, it is sad they have to operate within the confines of this now big bureaucracy. Go check out just how much money our newest CEO makes at our "Non-profit Hospital". It will amaze you.

On July 15th, I underwent a Total Hip Replacement with the Hendricks Regional Ortho Team. Dr. Prather leads an incredible program with his up-to-date expertise in the best outcomes for his patients in regaining a more normal lifestyle. The Pre-Op program insures his patients are informed properly to prepare for this surgery from being cleared for surgery, and understanding best outcomes to decrease risk for any infections. My inpatient stay was incredible. The nursing staff was excellent in assuring my pain was under control and all antibiotics and medications were administered as ordered and that I understood everything that was going on. Therapy was also excellent in getting me out of bed for the first time and ambulating that first day after surgery. The following day, my therapist reviewed all the necessary exercises I needed to do at discharge, had me walking the halls and ambulating up and down stairs. All precautions in the prevention of infection, and DVTs were thoroughly explained. I cant commend Dr. Prather enough in his leadership in an excellent program with limited pain post-op, and the ability to rehab with no limitations in movement. His anterior approach to THA is far superior than any I have been exposed to in my career in nursing and I would recommend him to anyone facing a total hip replacement in the future. It is now 6 days post-op and I have been off of all narcotics for 4 days now, walking up and down stairs without difficulty, progressed in my ambulation from a walker to a cane now and continue to have increased range of motion and strength in my leg. Im confident as I progress in my post-op rehab that I will get back to my active lifestyle that I am accustomed to. Kudos to an excellent team.

We just had to admit our 8yo daughter to the pediatrics unit for the second time in two weeks. She broke both bones in her lower right leg. Earlier this week, she had a plate and 4 pins inserted into her tibia to hold it together. Unfortunately, the out-patient surgery center did a horrible job managing her pain after the surgery. Once we arrived at the Hendricks Regional pediatrics unit my daughter showered with smiling friendly faces. The staff immediately started doing everything they could to make her comfortable. Within 90 minutes of arriving, she was resting peacefully. The peds staff is absolutely wonderful! They are a very cohesive group and all of them work very hard to make both the patients and their parents comfortable! Thank you!

I love this hospital!! They actually listened to me!! I have known of my daughters problem ever since she was a baby. The doctors and hospitals would just keep giving her the same stuff over and over and over. They would not do anything about it or listen to me that it wasnt working. This hospital actually listened, checked the issue out after they narrowed down a few things to make sure there wasnt anything else going on as well. So now they are treating it the way it should have been a long time ago, so hopefully, it will be taken care of and she wont have any more problems!! Thank you Hendricks Regional ER!! You guys are awesome!! The Dr was fun and the RN we had was really sweet. Thank you again for actually taking time to listen!!

I had a couple surgical procedures done and delivered two babies at HRH. The doctors were WONDERFUL! They went out of their way to care for me and my sons. The pediatricians that were on rotation during my sons births went above and beyond especially with my second son who had a heart issue. Ive also had great experiences with the nursing staff in the surgical and recovery units, and with the staff in the labs. Dr. Anita Mazdai was my OBGYN and I couldnt have asked for a better physician. I am extremely thankful for everything she has done for my family and I.

Worst billing ever! The bills lack the detail to know for what you are being billed. Information is misleading and incomplete. Additionally the billing department is completely unhelpful. I set up a $1000+ bill on a payment plan but apparently they dont have the capability to indicate the payment plan on the bill anywhere. So you just keep getting bills for the total amount. When you are receiving multiple medical bills this is extremely confusing. Ive dealt with plenty of medical bills and this is by far the worst ever.
