I recently took my 18 month old ferret in because she was experiencing lethargy and weight loss. I was apprehensive at first, not knowing exactly what to expect with both the vet, and what my ferret might have. Over the course of the next 2 weeks, she had 4 separate visits. The first, because her physical came back normal, we started a round of medication and hand feeding, along with monitoring her weight. The second visit resulted from her not perking back up after the meds. During the second visit, a growth was found under her rib cage. The options were to either let it play out, go in and get it, or do more testing to try and determine what it was. I decided to try and have it removed. The surgery was successful, in terms that she made it through ok, but more growths were found than originally thought. Biopsies were taken and sent out, but unfortunately the day after coming home she took a turn for the worse. I rushed her back to the vet, who did a thorough exam and blood work, and while we were discussing options for treatment, she passed away from what appears to be extreme liver failure...though the exact cause isnt known just yet. With all of that being said, and even with my ferret dying in the end, I would highly recommend this vet. The level of attention and detail given to my ferret, and her brothers who tagged along to act as blood donors for her surgery, was incredible. The techs were fantastic, with a very sincere care given with a friendly disposition. Dr. Lennox and Dr. Goldstein were very knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely cared about what was happening to my ferret, and were also were attentive to how I was doing, since my pet was in dire straits. All of my visits to the vet, minus the first one, were a last minute phone call, with the clinic working me in between other appointments, understanding that my situation was urgent. The whole experience, from start to finish, has earned my respect. If you are looking for an experienced vet, who has your pets best interest at heart, then this is the place to go.

COULDNT CARE LESS ABOUT MY BIRD >:( I took my two year old Lovebird here, because he has a tumor on the side of his beak. When Dr. Lennox came in to talk to us, she took one look at him, and told me that it did need to come off, or my bird ran a high risk of dying. she immediately tried to take my bird, and run tests, but i told her i didnt have the money for anything but the initial exam. we went to the front, and i asked her how much it would be to get the tumor removed, and she told me three hundred dollars, but she would do it cheaper if i agreed to let her do it with NO ANESTHESIA, AND NO CATHETER!!!!!!!!!!! and then told me that if i did it that way, then my bird would probably die from blood loss. WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD LET ANY LIVING THING GO THROUGH A PAINFUL SURGERY WITH NO ANESTHESIA!? so needless to say, since i cannot have a credit card, because i am only 21 yrs old with insufficient credit history, they will not treat my bird, and he will most likely now die, unless i can get it to heal on its own. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS TO THIS LADY! SHE DOESNT CARE THAT YOUR ANIMAL IS SUFFERING, DYING, BLEEDING, OR IN PAIN! SHE JUST WANTS MONEY IN HER POCKET! i did not and will not pay the 62 dollars they want to charge me, they can go where the sun dont shine.

Selecting an exotic animal clinic in Indianapolis is easy in that there are so very few and also difficult in that theres no guarantee that what few there are will have a competent vet, nice facilities and a support staff with good bedside manners. This clinic has all three. Drs. Gunn and Lennox are both extremely knowledgeable and accessible. They explain everything to the best of their abilities, they call when they say they will, and they provide cell phone numbers in case of emergency. They even have people on staff who - for a very minimal daily fee - will take your pets home with them to petsit. After having to take my guinea pigs in several times for ailments (once for surgery), it was comforting to know that if things didnt go well, it would not be for the vets lack of expertise or trying. I cannot speak highly enough of or thank this clinic adequately for everything they do!

Both of the vets appeared to have outdated information on hedgehogs. They kept pushing Insectivore Diet on me, even though the first ingredient is animal by-products (bone and leftover bits from an animal, rather than the actual meat). They also recommended foods that have been known to be choking hazards for hedgehogs. Dr. Lennox was very rough when handling my hedgehog, and didnt give me a chance to calm her down for the exam, just whisked her away to be sedated without even asking if it was okay with me. Dr. Gunn checked for mites, didnt find any, and prescribed Ivomec, which is strongly opposed if you talk to any reputable hedgehog breeder, as it has caused several hedgehog deaths. While they might be a good vet for most exotic animals, they dont appear to be that knowledgeable about hedgehogs.

After a bad experience at All Things Wild, I decided to try out Dr. Lennox. My animal lover friend only recommended her when it came to her rabbits health. Just after the first visit, Dr. Lennox is the only person I trust with my rabbit! Whenever I take him there, the staff is always kind and Dr. Lennox takes the time to explain his condition to me. Having a severe upper respiratory infection from his previous home, she is performing a relatively new surgery on him. Although it is scary, I know he is in the right hands. Price wise, they are reasonable for an exotic vet, in my opinion. Some may think it is expensive but I love my rabbit so much that I am ok with paying more for knowing he is in good hands.

Its hard to find a good exotics vet and the vets here take great care of our guinea pigs. Dr. Lennox and Dr. Gunn are both very knowledgeable about guinea pigs, unlike other vets we have visited. Great bedside manner as well as patient care with both the vets and the techs. They have been wonderful with our critters through well-visits, illnesses, and surgeries and are great about answering questions via email and phone as well. They take time to explain what is going on with our pets and fill us in on all our treatment options when something is wrong. I would 100% recommend them for your exotic pet!

Its always hard to find a vet that works for you and that you trust enough to work with your fur babies. Add to the fact that this place specializes in birds and more exotic animals and then youve got yourself something special. I take my guinea pigs here when they need to go, despite the drive. The staff is knowledgeable and compassionate. More than that, as a pet owner, I feel like they are willing to work with me to make sure I know whats going on with my pet by putting things in laymans terms. As long as I live in Indy, I will come here for my smaller pets. Thank you for the work you do!
