worst experience possible. except for dakota, who was very professional and attentive to an animal that really hates the whole nail trimming routine, I had a difficult time with the rest of the staff. unfortunately the doctor seems to be unaware of his employees lack of interest in their jobs. I had spoken with the vet prior to this last experience and he was very professional. I believe the problem lies in their outreach coordinator who watched indifferently as I tried to support my sedated 75 pound dog and an armful of paperwork while waiting for the billing to be completed (and the conversation outreach was having with the billing clerk). When I asked the pair to please get my paperwork going instead of yakking with each other the outreach coordinator snarled, "if you want fast service maybe you should go to one of the higher priced vets who will charge twice as much." Good logic there. Would not even offer to help with an animal that was practically passed out on the floor. When I finally got my dog to the car I gave her the keys to open the door, after which she threw the keys on the floor, hidden, and when asked where the keys were, she turned her back and said, "I have no idea." She walked away and would not even offer to help me with a sedated animal. Outreach Coordinator? Not the right position for her. A little exercise with the animals would not hurt her either. I suspect her enormous weight problem has a negative effect on her disposition. Very unpleasant person. Should probably be cleaning the animal cages, would give her a little humility. Oh, one other item that clarifies this womans character. When I asked her if Dr. Shear was still with the clinic, she coldly replied, "We have never had a Dr. Shear working here." I replied, Maybe Dr. Shore?" She then replied, "Yes, we have a Dr. Shore working here. Shes not here today." How helpful. Maybe she was late for lunch. She called about 3 minutes later to inform me that the office clerk had added two extra doses of heartworm meds accidentally and that I would have to return them to the office. She was laughing while she said, this as if the whole office was having a good laugh at my expense. I could hear the laughter in the background. Doubtless all the satisfied customers will come running to the defense of this clinic. Fine. Not going back. I am sure she is ok with that. I appreciate what this clinic does. But people working with animals should be professional and helpful, like Dakota, and not indifferent and callous like this "Outreach Coordinator". two years later, I spoke with my neighbor who I originally referred to MSV after my first visit there, the one that I did not have to deal with the lame office people. He said, "oh, I forgot it was you that told me about that place." He then related how nice they were the first time and then they treated him like dirt after that visit. But he stressed it was only the office people and he also commented how poorly the waiting area was set up, and that he was scolded by front desk people to keep his dog quiet. He is not going back either. Save your dog some stress. These people really dont give a damn about animals.

Long waits, Front desk staff are very rude to just about everyone that walks in. They get annoyed if you ask any questions. I complained about their customer service and was told that they see 100 dogs per day and dont have time to hold my hand and if I needed better customer service to go elsewhere. I asked for a written prescription since the clinics price was more than double what I could get the drug for at a big box store.(Everybody thinks theyre low cost,NOT) They refused to call the prescription in. They refused to mail me the prescription. I picked the prescription up and when I tried to have it filled, the store I was at had the generic equivalent. The pharmacist had to call the clinic and they were absolutely no help. The clinic said the vet had never heard of the generic and refused to let me get it filled. The Rx was for Carprofen and the store had Truprofen. The pharmacist said in all of her years working, shed never had a vet refuse to substitute one for the other. If youre in doubt, google Rimadyl, Carprofen and Truprofen. On my way home, I called three different vets and three different pharmacys. They all agreed that Truprofen and Carprofen are direct substitutions for each other and didnt understand why the vet at West Michigan didnt know that. I ended up having to pay $45 to take my dog to another vet to get the prescription that I should have been able to get from West Michigan. Definitely not a LOW COST experience. The front end staff was more than happy to send me my pets medical records and let me know that they wouldnt miss my business.Wow, what a group!!

This full-service veterinary clinic is a god-send to the Indianapolis community. Prior to this clinic opening, there was nothing available for low-income pet owners wanting to provide decent medical care for their pets. I believe thats exactly why this clinic opened: to fill a huge need in the community. Clearly, this clinic was not opened as a money-making endeavor. Their prices are a fraction of all the other full-service vet clinics. Is the wait a little longer? Sure, but thats the trade-off for very low-cost and high-quality vet care. The owner, Dr Johnson, is a really good, experienced vet. He provides quality care without the frills. I also really like Dr Landau. If people want immediate care and a vet who coddles them, they should go to a higher-cost, higher-frills clinic. This is a high-volume clinic. They are helping as many animals as they can each day. They dont have large amounts of time to devote to each client. That is also the trade-off you make for very low-cost and quality care. My animal welfare group FIDO refers our low-income clients to this clinic all the time. Prior to this clinic opening, there were no options for them. Also, the times that I have brought rescue dogs from FIDO to this clinic, they provided great care and good information, at an extremely low cost. Many of our FIDO dogs were horribly neglected and this clinic provided good, compassionate medical care. I cannot sing their praises highly enough.

I had to write a review because of all the bad reviews this great vet is getting. I take all my animals here, and it is not a close drive either. Their prices are VERY reasonable compared to other places and they truly care about the animals, not the money! They now have several vets that work at the clinic. I have had experience with 3 (all of them had great bed side manners). I recently took my two adult dogs in for their annual wellness checks and vaccines. We had no real medical concerns, except for one thing with my Golden. The vet took her time to explain the possible condition he may have, gave her recommendations, and even sent me a very informational article the day after our visit. Furthermore, I realized that they overcharged me for the two visits (not waiving the exam fee since we got just vaccines). They cleared it up right away, and issued a refund to my credit card, and they were very helpful and apologetic the whole time! One of my dogs also had to have stitches about 6 months ago. All other places quoted upwards to $900 for his wound to be stitched. Mich Street charged me only $199 for the whole procedure, and they even called to check on him the day after! The ONLY complaint I have about this clinic is the long waits for check ups (which is completely understandable and NOT as long as FACE), and the fact there is no public bathroom (long waits make for a full bladder! LOL!).
