Outstanding team of veterinarians. I volunteer and foster for a local rescue organization and have taken three cats to both their Norwalk and West Des Moines locations. My vet at the time had been unfavorably treating one of the three cats with no luck. After 5 months of trying to find a diagnosis for her, I decided to try Family Pet. I was seen promptly, and left with a plan for her. She was suspected to have IBD. After seeing them, she improved. Took her for an ultrasound (they have so much equipment and know what they are doing!) and confirmed she was suffering from IBD. Within a week, she felt better, was gaining weight, and her accidents were dwindling quickly. I was so impressed and so relieved that she was comfortable and we knew what we were going to do for her. I have since taken in two more cats to the West Des Moines location and met with Dr. Jen. She spent almost an entire hour looking at one of cats that was in horrible condition. She sent me home with medications for him and he improved! It was heartbreaking to see him suffer, but after seeing Dr. Jen you can imagine what a comfort it was for both him and I. I am taking him back to have his teeth fixed up and nurse him back to health. I was shown better ways to clean their ears, their eyes and information on what to look for and thorough intructions on how to treat my other cats I foster. They carry an additive to add to their water for dental care and that is a proactive approach I appreciate so much. Dental problems can cause so much damage to your pet, wow. I would strongly suggest that everyone take their pets in for regular dental checkups. It is SO important. The third cat was seen for a general wellness checkup and is my own personal pet. He is feline herpes positive and my previous vet had told me he had a polyp in his ear and it could be removed. She charged me for surgery to remove it, I picked him up and she advised me she had tried to remove it but could not and had ruptured his eardrum in the process. He returned home with me and I continued to moniter his ears. There was no sign of damage at all to that ear. After seeing Dr. Jen she promptly advised that he did not have a polyp after all. (I was relieved, but irritated that I had spent almost $400 at my previous vet to treat it. Money down the drain.) His teeth were also in poor condition due to the herpes virus. She removed four of his teeth which she showed me had to come out. He was back to crunching his food in a week. Imagine my relief?! I wasted so much money and time before going to Family Pet. I was frustrated beyond belief. Everytime I have taken a cat to Family Pet and seen Dr. Jen we have resolved their problems. Anyone who wants to adopt a rescue cat wants them to be in excellent health. I can send them home with a new owner now and have faith that they will enjoy them to the fullest and I can confidently say they are in excellent health and provide them with accurate documentation to prove it. I cannot praise them enough. Dont waste your money going somewhere with no results. Its hard on your pet and hard on you. I am a lifetime client with them. When my fosters are happy, Im happy. I strongly recommend you take your animal(s) in to see them and see what is going on. We as humans cannot see and know the hidden issues that may be taking away years from your pets life and your time together. Noone wants to give up even a day with their animal, thats for sure. We signed up for the Care Credit program (which you can use yourself for personal services you need, eye care, medical care, a long list of things) and I cant stress enough to get this and have it. Your pet might be good today, but may have an issue in the near future. Noone can know. The fear of not knowing how to pay for an emergency is removed with this program. Have it, use it for proactive care. Especially dental. No more insurance programs you pay monthly for. No more wondering what is covered or pre existing. It covers it all and you just use it ad you need it.

I have been taking my English Bulldog to Dr. Jen for a year now. My bulldog was living with my boyfriend and he didnt pay much attention to her health until he and the dog moved into my house. I started noticing that my dog was getting patchy fur and scabs all over her body. Dr. Jen advised us to switch her food as she suspected food allergies, but we thought it was possibly summer allergies due to the time in which all of this occurred so we kept her on regular pet store food. Throughout the past year, she continued to have several outbreaks from her allergic reaction to her food. As soon as we switched her food to the recommended food for her she improved drastically (we probably should have listened months prior to this!) Unfortunately, right when her skin/coat cleared up from her allergies, we noticed a lump on her neck. It was hard, and it seemed to pop up there overnight, so we figured it was a cyst. It turned out to be a cancerous tumor. Dr. Jen removed the tumor and called me after hours to tell me the type of tumor it was when the results came in. We had to have another surgery on her neck to remove the rest of the tumor as they didnt want to "overdo it" so to speak the first time without knowing how much tissue to remove. My dog had her 2nd surgery 3 days ago. She didnt seem ok when I went to pick her up and had some severe swelling around her incision site and far more bleeding than I thought was ok. The vet techs (which are also ALL amazing - including the front desk staff) took my dog back and Dr. Jen decided to keep her overnight for more observation. Dr. Jen called me three times over the weekend to let me know how my dog was doing. To me, that is the best service any vet can provide when all youre doing is sitting and worrying all weekend. I wont be taking this dog or any other dog in the future elsewhere.

Dr. Jen and her staff are awesome! I recommend them highly! I took my cat in because she had a extremely bad case of Diarrhea, while I was there they notice the lumps on her breasts. I had taken my cat to many vets prior to Dr. Jen and no one mentioned or even commented on the lumps. She said that Miss Kitty needed surgery asap. We are a couple with not a lot of money for the surgery. Dr. Jen worked with us(where other vets would not) she quoted a price, but when she got done with the surgery, it was more intense then she thought so again, she worked with us. She ended up having to remove all her breast and she also took a sample of her colon to be tested. Unfortunately we got awful news. She had cancer. Dr. Jen would call when she was off of work and fill me in on the details. When it was time for Kitty surgery I told her that I had lost a cat in surgery, and I asked if I could stay and she said of course. Trudy kept me posted on Miss Kitty condition the whole time. Believe me if you have a pet you need to take them to Dr. Jen and her staff. Brianna and Lyndsey was so helpful and kind as well, I would call all the time and ask questions about Miss Kittys condition and they would explain things to me to help me out, and calm me down. They truly love animals at the pet center! I just cant say enough how much I think so highly of them. Personally I could keep going on how I think, but I only have so much room. Please just take your pets to them, and you will not be disappointed at all!! Thanks again, Jim and Cheryl Crawford
