TRISH HARTFIEL
I will never bring my fur baby here again. We brought our 9 week old kitten in Saturday at 8pm..he had diarrhea and was not as playful as normal. They ran blood work and did a biopsy of his stool although I told them it was not worms as he had been treated a few days prior. They came back and said based on the blood work our kitten had some type of infection but they werent sure what it was. They told me he was Mildly dehydrated and under weight but they wanted to treat his diarrhea prior to treating his dehydration. Please keep in mind our kitten was under a pound. They put him on Amoxicillin which causes diarrhea and reduces appetite...we brought him home Saturday at 11pm. Monday morning I woke up at 530 am and found our baby laying on the floor, he couldnt move and looked like he was dying. We rushed him back to the clinic...before they would treat him they provided me with a 1500.00 estimate..on top of the 400 I just paid them Saturday night. This time since he had to be hospitalized it cost even more. 15 minutes after I left they called and told me that he has purked up since he was giving iv fluids and glucose. I called them at 12 pm to check on our baby. They told me he was doing much better, he had eating a can of wet food, was up playing and had used the litter box a few times, they also advised they had lowered the fluids significantly and he was still doing great. I had only paid to keep him in there until 6pm..during my checkins they told me he should be ok to go home at that time. The Vet called at 730 and told me they hadnt stopped the iv to see how he is when not recieving it. We picked our fur baby up at 8pm...I asked why he appeared so out of it..they told me he was tired. He was filthy and looked like he had been sitting in his urine. We were home in 10 minutes and our baby couldnt stand when I placed him on the floor, he wouldnt eat and was lethargic...but it was doing great, right!!! It saddens me to say our kitten passed through the night. I feel they took the money but didnt treat him correctly or as they said they did. Our kitten had scratches on his ear in more than one place which he didnt have prior to going here,...they dont know how that happened. Im furious with this place. The result of them not treating him correctly the 1st time he was in, resulted in death.

I just returned from my 2nd trip to AEVS, happily with a corgi whose stomach is now free of a chunk of bone! After a day of exciting bone-gnawing, he suddenly started vomiting in early evening; and when he started moaning and whining, I knew something was pretty wrong. (He never seemed to notice when an entire toenail was pulled out at the park this summer, so I know his pain threshold is high!) The vet tech examined him gently, kindly and thoroughly; the vet palpated his abdomen etc., then recommended x-ray to see if a bone bit was lodged within, and sure enough, there was a chunk in his stomach. They induced more vomiting, and out it came! Hopefully thats the end of it-- two hours later, hes almost back to normal. Cost of xray, exam, vomit-inducing, and sub-cutaneous fluids: $430. That doesnt seem out of line to me-- as someone else said, its an emergency room! I didnt have to wait, its clean as a whistle, and everyones polite and kind. They send you away with a detailed diagnosis on paper, along with follow-up instructions, which they give you aloud as well. Our other visit: over the summer, both our dogs got into something late at night (probably an insect nest of some kind) that made both their faces swell horribly in the space of a few minutes. We were pretty freaked out, and after looking up stuff on the web, and giving them some childrens Robitussin, gave up and ran them over there at 2 a.m.! Excellent, intelligent vet gave them both steroids (after a thorough exam) which brought the swelling down visibly within an hour. They gave us a cut-rate, as it was two corgis came in with the same problem, at the same time! I was pleasantly surprised to get a follow-up call from the clinic. Really a completely satisfactory experience. Its great to know that you can go right over to a reliable place in the middle of the night if necessary. It would be nice it it were free, but thats what I think about human health care, and thats not going to happen too soon, either. ;-) Actually, I wish I could just have my own health care at AEVS-- they spent more time with my dogs than some doctors have spent with me!

I took my cat to the AEVS in Eden Prairie over the weekend since there was a scab around her nipple by her right front leg. The vet, Dr. Erica Moore, diagnosed it as a cuterebra. She then proceeded to use forceps to take the cuterebra out of her as she pinched the top of it off causing some bleeding for my cat. I was then told that they need to cut the hole open further to proceed further in taking the cuterebra out and my cat would need to be put to sleep for that. They took her in the back to anesthetize her and cut her open. Since they were struggling to pull it out - they investigated further to determine it was not a cuterebra but just her nipple. The vet stated the nipple was inverted although if that was the case - she initially would not have been able to pull on it using forceps! The incompetence of the vet at this office is off the charts! Basic anatomy of a cat was not known to her! In the picture below - top photo is before the vet examined her and bottom is after. I would not recommend this place to anybody! The discharge method was unbelievable as well since they just threw my cat in the carrier and gave her back to me. My cat was not brought back into the room and I was not told/shown what was done. I didnt get to see what was done to her until I got home! Never ever ever again! I wish I could post the before and after pictures I have on google. They are posted on their facebook page under visitor posts unless they decide to delete my post. Reviews are also not set up on the facebook page which means all posts can be deleted!

First time there, a Thursday evening around 7:30. We were seen within 10 minutes. I was impressed with the place itself (the building and cleanliness and it was just a welcoming and inviting atmosphere), and I was impressed with the vet we saw and the tech. We sadly ended up having to put our 17 year old cat down that night, unexpectedly. The vet was VERY informative about all the options, the costs of each option, his thoughts on what might be wrong, etc. When we made the horribly sad decision to put him down, the vet was accommodating, let us sit in a comfortable room with him for as long as we wanted, and also let us stay with him after he was gone as well. Which I loved. Being able to hold him for a while to just let it all out was very healing. One thing I loved that they did was put an IV line in his arm before bringing him to the "comfort room" so when the time came to give him the shots, I could just keep him in my arms and we didnt have to stress him out in his last moments by sticking him with more needles. It was a calm and beautiful way to see him go. AND, 4 days later I received a hand written card from the vet with his condolences. Which I would expect from my regular vet, but not from an emergency vet who had only seen and treated him once. Overall, 100% satisfied with this place! Im comforted knowing they are close, convenient, 24 hours, and have good people there. Hoping I never need to go back (have 2 little puppies currently), but if I need to, I will fell confident going here!
