I took my dog into FMA the Tuesday before Christmas to get his nails cut and my fiancé, who took him while I was at work said he could hear him crying from the waiting area. They said it was normal that some dogs freak out a little but it was no big deal. Hes been to this office before to get his nails cut btw, its where he gets his shots and everything at. So anyways, a couple of hours later when I got home I realized his eye had a little bruised spot on it. I called them up and told them about it and they asked if he was puking, eating normal, lethargic, etc.. And I said no he was still acting fine, but wasnt sure what happened to cause it. They were about to close so she offered to have me come in the next day but said they couldnt get me in until 4 the next day. I took the spot just in case but wanted to get in sooner because I was worried about it. An hour or so later his eye was super red, it was progressing to the entire white of his eye. (Posted pictures of the progression below) and as time went by you couldnt even see any white in his eyes anymore. We took him to an animal clinic (recommended by FMA on their website for after hours/emergency care) as we were worried something was terribly wrong, they said it looked like he had popped several blood vessels in his eyes, and sent us home with eye ointment. The next day we struggled to get his ointment in and even noticed him trying to rub his eye and whined a little so I took him back to the animal hospital and they also agreed that it looked worse, so they did some further testing to make sure it wasnt a blood clotting problem, that it wasnt effecting his sight or causing him pain, etc.. All tests came back normal. After spending hundreds of dollars and getting some pills to reduce inflammation, we were getting somewhere. I asked the vet at the animal hospital if it was safe to assume this all happened because of the nail cutting visit, and he said yes, that either he had a restraint around his neck or was in some type of choke hold during the struggle and that if it was worse it could have possibly even caused his eyes to pop out, being half pug. His eyes have finally healed. I talked to our vet at FMA and advised them of what happened. The vet said he understood my frustration but wasnt really taking full responsibility for what happened since he was not in the room where the nail clippings occurred. He did mention he heard him though. He kept suggesting that some dogs are just really bad about it and that it wasnt entirely their fault. I understand some dogs are like that but I figured they should have told us it was a major struggle, that they also should have stopped or taken a break and asked us to come back to finish if it was THAT bad of a struggle. I feel like they should reimburse us for the money we spent since that visit caused all of this... Now they wont return my calls or anything and keep saying they will contact me. Im feeling really betrayed, frustrated and hurt. Needless to say I wont be returning to your office ever again.

0 STARS -- THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO GO IF YOU HAVE A VETERINARY EMERGENCY!!! I took my kitty here after she was mauled by a dog as this was my regular vet. My original intention was to euthanize her right away because it was looking pretty bad. The techs talked me into letting DR BACHMAN look at her and he told me she was going to be just fine and theyd stitch her up like new. I believed that he would give me an accurate diagnosis and trusted he would tell me if she was too bad off to save so I said okay to surgery. They didnt start surgery until 2 days later, essentially leaving her all torn up laying in her own filth the meantime. They sent her home with me that night after surgery -- they wouldnt even let me SEE her until I had paid them handsomely and when I did I could tell she was in a lot of pain. They gave me antibiotics and pain meds to give her and I followed their instructions to a T, still she died at home 2 days later. The morning before she passed a lady from the vet called me to check up on her and I had just given her her morning dose of the antibiotic and she had foamed at the mouth. Concerned, I told the lady calling what had happened and she "went to ask the doctor" and came back and told me that "she probably just didnt like the taste" - really?! She died that evening. She was DYING when they sent her home with me and THEY KNEW IT, Im convinced of that much. This vet will take your money in your time of need and lie to your face about your pets needs. After she passed I was angry that my baby had to suffer when I couldve ended it all mercifully right away like my instinct had told me to and I also felt bad about the money I had to shell out to "save her", money that I didnt have, for services that did not save my cat. I returned my leftover meds to the vet as I didnt want them lying around the house as a reminder and told a vet tech KIRSTIN as much -- she was beyond rude to me and told me all I cared about was money as I stood in tears over my poor kitty. This was a HORRIBLE experience and I hope no one ever has to go through what I did using this vet. If your pet is having an emergency, TAKE THEM ELSEWHERE - this is NOT the place!!!

My dogs and I both love the folks at FMA. When my 7 week old puppy Beckett went missing they were extremely instrumental getting him back home. He was wearing a collar but no tags at the time. One of the staff saw his picture on Facebook and knew he was one of their patients. Working backwards through friends Beckett was home within twenty-four hours. The fact that the young woman recognized a patient after two visits for shots just shows the dedication and care they give all the animals that are fortunate enough to have FMA as their health provider. Another example of their going above and beyond. I once rescued a crow that had been hit by a car and had its wing broken. I needed to get it to Operation Wildlife (another wonderful operation that could use your help) but the O.W.L. office had closed for the day. At the time I owned a German short haired bird dog along with two cats so there was no way I could bring the bird home overnight. FMA kindly agreed to keep him subdued and safe for night until I could get him to O.W.L. the next morning. I was told by the O.W.L. worker that the bird had a better than 90% chance of making a full recovery and released back into the wild. All thanks to FMAs caring generosity in helping an injured animal. Thank you for all you do, James Montgomery

I took my pug in for shots and was told she was in a lot of pain because she needed her teeth cleaned (her teeth were cleaned in 2015). I decided to go ahead and make an appointment. The teeth cleaning cost over $500.00. The night after the teeth clean, my pug vomited everywhere and had a horrible, loud, honking cough develop. I took her back in around 8am the next morning, extremely concerned that she was near death. I called at 12:30pm and no one had even looked at her. I was later told that her condition/state didnt warrant an interruption to morning appointments. The staff was so rude to me, including Dr Alex. The front desk people couldnt care less. Many vet appointments later, I discovered that she now has a collapsing trachea and they gave her a really terrible infection inside her trachea. I will never ever go back and of course they didnt refund my money for the teeth cleaning despite the infection they gave her of which nearly killed her. These people are incompetent, uncaring, rude, have no compassion and are truly money suckers. I promise you--they dont care about the well-being of your pet. There are too many other vet choices around--stay away from this one.
