May be a fine doctor, but his office is run somewhere between incompetently and dishonestly. I had to come three times for something that should have taken one visit (getting a prescription for contacts... he mysteriously gave me only a prescription for glasses after my first visit, even though Ive worn contacts for 15 years. I didnt notice this until I was home). When I came back a second time, there was a $150 additional fee to get the only thing I wanted the first time, a contacts prescription. For some reason, this also required a third visit, so I could get a free sample (of the brand of contacts Ive worn for 5 years now) and the doctor could check the fit. Miraculously, they did fit, but I still did not get the prescription (again, the only thing I went in for in the first place) until I was pressured to buy contacts from them, as opposed to some website where they are half the price. This pressure consisted of him telling me a 6-pack of contacts was "included" in my earlier $150 fee, so it made sense to order from them; the staff person who I saw after the doctor told me this was false. Also, 2 of the three visits involved long wait times; I can live with this, as stuff happens in a doctors office, but there was never any apology or even acknowledgment of the wait, which strikes me as astonishingly unprofessional. Im pretty sure my eyes were undialating by the time I was examined on my first visit. The good: they could give me same day appointments for my three visits, the staff people are professional and nice, and the office is conveniently located. The prescription I got works well for me.

If I could give no stars I would. This Dr is a joke without a punchline. He makes numerous unnecessary appointments for people in order to charge them or their insurance repeatedly. My mother went to him and had her eye exam. When she called to find out about going back to pick out frames she was told shed need an appointment and to see the Dr. REALLY? For frames? (A ploy to charge her insurance for yet another appointment) She wasnt told that her insurance, the same one she had for her first appointment, the one they have on file ... they dont accept for this appointment. My assumption is its because the insurance co would catch on to the repeated visits/charges. Save yourself the time and trouble. GO ELSEWHERE!

I made an appointment for my granddaughter who has the medical card. My daughter and both of my granddaughters were there for 2 and 1/2 hours. Two other patients left because they were kept waiting so long. Very disappointed with him. My granddaughter who is 13 already had glasses for reading. He told her she absolutely did not need glasses. My granddaughter told him that words were blurry when she was reading and he told her to get up and go look out the window if that happened. How ridiculous. We are getting a second opinion. Dont waste your time with this doctor!

I had a great experience with Dr. Matthews! He was extremely smart and explained everything to me. I was brought back to see him quickly and didnt wait long at all in the room. He listened to me and was very kind. I wish more physicians were like him! Definitely recommend. Very helpful and respected my time.

The last time I went in, I told them I had different insurance that I had the previous time, they didnt want the info, said not to worry, it will be taken care of. It wasnt taken care of and now they keep sending me a bill...

Very inpatient with my 4 yr old son. My son was crying and scared but instead of explaining what he was going to do, he was shoving different things in my sons face and trying to do an eye exam. Will never go back!!!

Takes time to talk to the patient like a real human being. Long appointment for that reason. Very old fashioned office but if you dont want to be treated like a number, come here.

He refused to sell glasses because my child has the medical card. I believe that it is not right to do that as he accepted the medical card for the exam. Not happy with this Dr.
