This clinic does not have a Certified Avian Veterinarian in house, do not fall for the gimmick! They advertise as an avian/exotic focused clinic, however, they do not have the credentials to back up the claim and my parrot suffered the consequences. Went in for a simple exam with a healthy bird and my bird was physically marred for life when they used an improperly sized device to preform an exam on a large bird. The device, according to the vet was intended for a smaller bird, but they chose to use it anyway. Adding insult to injury, the staff were completely unprofessional, disregarding my animals well being and my peace of mind. I was treated as an overreacting lowlife who was attempting to get free services, and the clinic was obviously only attempting to protect itself. When my bird was harmed in the checkup they downplayed the injury, which drew blood, caused permanent disfigurement (per the vet), and cause my bird to be visibly traumatized. Additionally, cats roam freely around the clinic which caused additional stress to my pet. Make the drive to Louisville, KY, and go to Dr. Sam Vaughn at Stonefield Veterinary Associates if you value the safety and well being of your parrot.

I have been here many many many times. Overly priced, they can be rude, and forget it if you have an emergency over the weekend! You wont get a call back! They used staples for an amputation on my bunny, when they should have used stitches, now she has a huge hole into her stomach from pulling them out. I couldnt get ahold of them all weekend after leaving many messages with the on call doctor. I am far from happy right now. Update: We have switched to The Village in lexington about 6 months ago. They are amazing!!!! Our doctor even calls me to check on the rescues that we take in. I recently got a letter in the mail from Pennyroyal stating that I will never be able to return after the review I made here. I find that odd...wouldnt a business want to make it right? Especially considering we have spent around 2,000 there

On call emergency Dr for my rabbit was extremely careless and rude. After convincing her that I was worried and could not do home remedies, she reluctantly agreed to "drive an hour to get there." She said nothing to me for the first 10 minutes after parking her car and unlocking the office door. I had mentioned to her that my other rabbit had been neutered elsewhere due to lack of funds, when she stated "Well if you are going to use their services, you need to use their emergency services too- But quite frankly they dont have any." My baby rabbit died the next morning. Not saying it was her fault, but I definitely feel like she cared less. Which didnt help my grief.

Had an emergency last night. Only contacts for emergencies wouldnt see my bird. Drove from Lexington to Richmond KY. The DR in Richmond said she doesnt work on birds and to see my Vet as soon as they opened this morning due to my bird being critical . I was in parking lot when they opened and the staff acted annoyed that I was waiting. When I went inside the staff was rude and said there isnt any bird Drs today. I asked if she could call someone because my bird is critical. She told me NO. She continued being given rude. Ive went there for over 25 yrs and will never go back

By far a worthless place for emergency. The first time I tried contacting them a few years ago was for my sons bunny. It was late night and just like one other has stated on here there was no call back from the on call dr. Today is no different. My sons other rabbit died that night. Today his new rabbit that he has had since the last one is bleeding and no idea why.tried calling several times with no return call. I dont ever rate or write reviews on anything but I am pissed to no end. Will never recommend this place to anyone.

Pennyroyal has a wonderful team dedicated to your animals. I brought my African Fat-tailed gecko, Book, in to see Dr. Lacki after discovering a lump on his hemipene and she was so amazing with him. At first I was worried people wouldnt take a gecko vet visitseriously, but I was mistaken! They really love animals there and care deeply about every species. She helped me to understand every step of the way and made sure Book was safe and comfortable. Hes back to health, eating well, and very active! Im so thankful.

I have recently begun bringing my corn snake, Max, to this office after he decided to stop eating. He is now getting injections that will hopefully get him back to normal as soon as possible. The staff is absolutely wonderful. They answered all of my questions and really made me feel comfortable. I can tell they truly care. Its a small thing, but they remember our names and that makes me feel so welcome in their office. Max hates the injections, but he is a snake and honestly he brought this upon himself.

I have been many times with my birds. This is my go-to avian vet, but only one of their vets seems to know what they are talking about with the birds. The others handle my birds poorly, doesnt listen to me about their problems that they may or may not have, and is rude to me. The one that is good is Padalecki or something around that. Always polite and has the best manners, VERY GOOD with my animals, and you can tell they payed attention in vet school and has a passion for what they are doing.

Wow! I have been to a lot of veterinarians, but never one this amazing! Their knowledge of the most rare pet species is unparalleled, not just in Lexington, but everywhere else Ive ever lived. Have an exotic pet? This is where you should be taking them to make sure they receive the best care possible.

I thought that the prices were so unrealistic for a hamster. Just for 2 baby hamsters it would be $110 plus the additional cost of care. I love my baby hamsters, but thats way to much considering hamsters run about $10 each and only live for around 3 years. Never would or will go there. Terrible
