** Update, added a star ** Okay, feeling better about My Eye Dr. After getting my new glasses, they just werent working well for me. I didnt like the frames I purchased and the lenses were giving me a headache. I went back in and talked to the manager Yokasta. Yokasta is AMAZING. She reassured me that I could pick different frames and that shed get to the bottom of why the lenses werent working for me. After asking more questions she concluded that I had an issue with the material the lenses were made of and we decided to have the glasses remade with plastic (not polycarbonate) lenses. She also took measurements to make sure the lenses were placed as well as possible. She assured me that if I still have problems I can come back and shell keep working with me. She was incredibly professional and helpful. I am now a fan. Ask for Yokasta. Previous Review: Mixed experience -- First impression was awful the waiting room was crowded and dirty (wrapper on floor). The selection of frames appeared very limited. The parking lot is a disaster (very small, packed, hard to get in and out). I didnt wait too long for my appointment though, maybe 15-20 minutes. The optometrist was great - funny, personable, made me feel comfortable. I chose this location because they took my insurance - but wasnt planning on buying frames there given the limited selection. I asked the optometrist for a copy of my prescription to take to another store and he was agreeable but also said that they could give me a great deal at their location. I said I would consider that (as Im on a budget). He got the manager for me and she helped me pick out frames and offered me a very reasonable price for designer frames with lenses included. So I left happy. Then I encountered incompetence with the office staff. Lenses were supposed to be ready the next day. I showed up two days later to pick them up and they werent ready. But no one called me to notify me of the delay. Okay, fine. Things happen. They said theyd be ready later that day. Called a day later and the person who answered took my number to call me back (she was going to check if my glasses were ready) ... and didnt call back. Had to call again. That sort of thing is very annoying to me. The guy who adjusted my glasses was fine and respectful and appeared good at his job. The general atmosphere was chaotic and not too professional though. So, yeah, thats about it. I might go back or might not. Not too impressed with the office staff but overall was okay.

I never write reviews anywhere but after my visit to the Myeyedoctor in Greenbelt, I had the felling that i should warn others who go for a routine eye exam.Terrible Customer Services and they are just money minded. I am a grad student in UMD and i have the state of maryland provided insurance which is the best. I called and scheduled an appointment for routine eye exam. I asked the lady in the desk to check my insurance if the procedure is covered. She said yes and i filled the papers. In the doctors table he asked if i wear contacts. i said yes but not frequently. he said ok then lets check that. I dont find anything different than the routine eye exam. He asked to to try a contact without telling me that is a different procedure and it cost 150 $ for that. He said to check with the lady in the front desk further for prescription. The lady tried to sell me contacts which was over priced so i just asked for a prescription. Then the whole scene turn grey when she handed me a bill for 40 $ copay and 150 $ for Toric contact Lens Exam. I said i didnt ask for the special procedure and no one explained it to me. I called my insurance and they say its not covered as it is an unnecessary procedure. Now i am struck with the bill which i didnt ask for . All i ask is a routine eye exam and i end with some unnecessary procedure that cost me 150$. I feel i have been cheated by them. so people stay away from MYEYEDOCTOR or if u feel u have to go because it is the nearest then by all means ask then i dont want a procedure not covered by insurance.

I was at this location recently the Doctor was pleasant and professional, I was transfer to the frames section where this guy has an attitude and has no intension to help me, he didnt even mentioned what are my options and what will be cover by my kids insurance, I had to asked will he responded ..we dont have any we expecting shipping, and he it takes more than 4 weeks for us to get shipment, I noticed he didnt want to help us. so I replied that I will go to another location or call to find out if it comes sooner I called the next day and they had received shipment. He just didnt want to help.. so my husband had to take off from work and chose frames, and told them I was going to stop by. finally I get there to make the payment but they cant find my kids Rx and frames I had to wait 1 hr and no one knows where to find them. And they tell me they cant order more because their discontinued, I spoked to the "manager " she promised to call me back , I didnt get a call back. I had to go to different locations looking for the frames, and I got to the one in Rockville they had my kids info ,Rx and had the frames, I had to do their job myself. I called greenbelt so they can request the frames to be transfer since I had already paid for it. Im really frustrated no wonder they have so many bad reviews. Ohh. Its been days I still didnt get a call back They are careless, terrible customer service, so unprofessional.

The sales-people here are scoundrels. Based on the hour or two I spent in this establishment, I can say that, despite their sign advertising "two pairs of eye glasses for $100", you’ll almost certainly pay at least several hundred dollars for an inferior product. I went in to purchase new lenses and frames. While I was looking at frames, they refused to show me anything under $150, claiming they had no others to show me. Moreover, I couldnt find any frames for less than $200 that looked as nice as the bargain bin glasses (from a different seller) that I was already wearing. While I was there, I heard some guy receive a quote for several thousands of dollars to get glasses for his family. On top of that, they told me that my basic lenses alone would cost an unbelievable $500, even with my two forms of insurance. When the sales-woman saw I was obviously about to leave in response to these prices, she offered to throw in some $180 frames for free, in addition to the lenses. I was a sucker and took the deal. When I finally received the new glasses, I found them uncomfortable to wear. I couldnt bear the strain of wearing them for long periods of time and generally had to take them off when doing schoolwork. Overall, they seemed inferior to glasses I had gotten for less than $50 (also with insurance) two years prior. Ultimately, its worth any extra effort to avoid this place.
