Do not allow your relative to be taken to Layhill if they require skilled nursing and attentive care. It could kill them. Maybe these folks are ok with custodial patients, but they are shockingly unable to cope with post-surgery patients requiring changing of drains, IV meds, gastric feeding. Their ignorance of basic techniques of cleaning drains is life-threatening. Our friend got his awful systemic MIRS from a poorly cleaned PIC line at the hospital, we know how important sterile is. Orderlies accustomed to lifting paralyzed elderly nearly used the same "belt" approach to lifting our friend with his multiple tubes, drains and IVs. Only vigilance and aggressive intervention prevented it. Most Layhill staff are defensive and unresponsive. Call bells rang for hours without response. No matter the ratios of staff to patients, usually, there was only one caring and attentive nurse on duty for most shifts, in the entire place. The others couldnt have cared less and resented that his sister (who seldom left his side 24/7) knew the care he needed and wouldnt stop until she got it for him. Even threatening a lawsuit in meetings with the administrator and chief doc at Layhill produced only promises and temporary changes. Weekends were particularly bad, I guess more senior staff were able to get weekends off, leaving less capable lackadaisical people on duty. While under their care, he had a seizure requiring a 911 run to Medstar Montgomery County Hospital, where he was admitted in very bad shape. It took two weeks of care to get him back to the condition he was in when he arrived at Layhill.

My mother has been here one day and already this place sucks. It took them 2 hours for them to get her pain meds to her. Today I came to visit her, they brought her lunch at noon. Here it is 16:23 and her tray is still here. Three different people came to the room, but its none of their jobs to take away the dishes. Theres no air circulating in the room and the air condition half way work. I wish I had read the reviews on this place before having my mom brought here. Dont bring you family here if you can help it. This place deserves the low rating theyve received from other customers. Same person who told us it was someone elses job to take away the lunch tray just came to get it, smh.

Horrible: Dont do it. The big smiles and warm voices are all a façade. If you sign the dotted line, you will be personally responsible for bills. My loved one got infection 3 times, nurses never attended to our needs, nurses stated "MAs" handled physical request. The second floor reaps of urine. First floor patients may be treated better than second floor clients. Horrible nursing staff on second floor. Not caring. In-sensitive. Money hungry establishment.

My mother was there for her stroke and by far its the worst facility for any type of care, it needs to be shut down or find people who want to do the job instead of people who want a paycheck only, I had a meeting with directors and staff higher ups the whole situation is ridiculous, Kaiser should be ashamed for this!

Improvements Needed Our loved one fell, hit his head, had a bleeding wound, and was ambulanced to the hospital. Beds with alarms are needed for patients that are at risk for a fall. More attentive staff is needed as well. We were relieved when he was moved to a better facility.

My dad at 90 has kaiser AND medicare. Had 3 mini strokes..they threw him out after 4 days!!!! Unless we paid almost 400 a day.shame shame shame. And hire some Caucasian American. Preferably with English language knowledge!!!
